Web App – iGas

iGas is a web app that allows you to search for the cheapest gas prices based on zip code. When you go to the url – http://cybernetnews.com/igas/ – on your iPhone, it opens a browser in which you can enter the zip code you want to search in and what you want the search to be sorted by…you can sort by; Unleaded Price, Plus Price, Premium Price, Diesel Price and Gas Station Name. Just tap on Sort by and select the option you would like to sort by…once you have made your selection tap Done in the right corner. This will bring you back to the main screen where you can then tap Go to start the search. It brings up a list of Gas Stations and there prices starting with the lowest price and going down to the highest price. The results give you the name of the Gas Station, the address of the Gas Station (which you can tap on and it will bring it up in Google Maps!!!) and the price of the gas (with the date it was updated below it). Based on what you sorted by…you will see that price first in the list. So, if you searched by Unleaded Price…it will display them in order from lowest to highest based on the Unleaded prices but, it will also show you whether that gas station also has results for Plus, Premium and Diesel and the prices of each of them as well! If you scroll all the way to the bottom, you are also given the option to change the zipcode to start a new search. Usually, we do not do reviews on web apps but, this one is really nice. It is simple, very user friendly, great interface and quick….oh, and I almost forgot the best part, it doesn’t have any ads on it!! I hate when there are so many ads on a web app that you can’t even figure out how to use it!!! Overall…very good! For more info about this web app and info on how to add it to your iGoogle…..check out THIS link. Below are some screenshots:

  1. this igas is disconnected.. There not mobile no more.. It was excellent while it lasted.. :( it surly will b missed!!

  2. I have just begun to use this app – so far so good. Two recommendations: 1) When you click on one of the gas stations listed, it brings up detailed info on that station, including the address. This is great – but what would be even better is to then be able to click on the address and have it automatically get loaded into the GPS function of the i-Phone 3G. I am planning on using this app during a cross-country trip and have no doubt that I will be able to save a ton of money by knowing which gas station has the cheapest gas. It would be nice to also save time by being able to very easily find that gas station. The second recommendaiton is to allow for a city name to be entered (instead of a zip code) to focus the search on. When going cross-country, you know what city is coming up, but to find the zip code requires a lot of extra steps on your i-Phone.

  3. Gas prices these days are just getting higher, i think the government should focus more on alternative energy.~;`

  4. I have been surfing online greater than three hours today, but I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours. It is pretty price sufficient for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made just right content material as you did, the net might be a lot more helpful than ever before.
