ContactFlow 0.4

ContactFlow This is a pretty cool new app! Think AppFlow (now XLaunch) only with your contacts! ContactFlow opens to this SWEET Cover Flow style contact list of your contacts photos. You can then tap on a photo and call that contact. When you tap on a photo…you will get a pop-up giving you the available numbers for that contact and the option to cancel…just tap on the option you would like. After the call is finished it will bring you back to the ContactFlow app. This app is actually in a French source but…the app itself is in English…so it’s all good. This app worked great on 1.1.3 however, [Read more…]

StatusStyle 2.2

StatusStyleVersion 2.2 or StatusStyle adds some really cool new features. Not only can you change your StatusBar you can now change your Carrier Text and your Time Text!! However, when I tried to change my Carrier Text…it didn’t change, even after a few tries and restarting my iPhone…then when I went back in and turned it off it erased my current custom carrier logo and set it back to the stock AT&T. Nor did it change my Time Text…though changing the StatusBar still works. The previous version of this app made it compatible with all versions of firmware so, it shouldn’t be caused by the fact that I am running 1.1.1. Hopefully [Read more…]

Mahjong 0.3

Mahjong Version 0.3 of Mahjong has a few new features and visual changes. You can now freely move the board around by tapping and dragging it where you would like it, making it much easier to play…you can also zoom in and out easily. A few more Boards have been added…before there were the default, square and dragon…cross and hourglass have now been added. Note…this version of the app is available through the BigBoss source and not the iSpazio source which the previous version was through. Below are the screenshots: [Read more…]

OpenSSH 4.6p1-2

Version 4.6p1-2 of OpenSSH is available in the Installer.app through the Ste Packaging source. When you install this version you will get a little pop-up screen with the following information: “Please exit Installer and turn your iPhone off and on, after this update finishes.” This is what Ste has to say about version 4.6p1-2 of OpenSSH: [Read more…]

1.1.4 has been released

1.1.4 firmware has been released today. Do not update if you want to keep all your programs and themes. There is no know jailbreak at this time. I am trying to find out what the update changes but I’m assuming it has to do with the SDK. Please comment with your source if you know what the update is about. Thanks!

1.1.4 iPhone Firmware

*UPDATE* Everywhere I’ve read says so far only “bug fixes”. Erica Sadun is upgrading now so we’ll know more soon!

*UPDATE 2* ZiPhone is going to work to jailbreak 1.1.4, we just have to be patient while he tweaks it. See ZiPhone.org for info.

findme – LowJack for your iPhone

TwitterErica Sadun is at it again with a completely amazing app! Findme is just a script that runs in the background and print the lat/long of your location. But when combined with Twitter (a buddy tracking web application) findme becomes one of the coolest iPhone hacks yet! Before I explain the whole hack, check out the end result on my twitter twitter.com/JakesiPhone

The first great use of this I thought of, is my trip to Italy this summer. I can give my Twitter URL to family and friends so they can see my progress through the country. But the intended use is to set up your Twitter as a private account, so only you can check it. Then if you iPhone ever gets stolen, you can see where its at! Which has potential in the future to be so much more. The script could be modified to take a photo and record the location, so you could possibly get a picture your thief caught red handed! That is of course my pipe dream, but the ability is there. Just need some one to develop it.

Check out the Hack after the break. [Read more…]

How to Take Screenshots

I get a lot of questions from people asking how we take our screenshots. There are actually a few ways to take screenshots…I have used all of them (sometimes all of them to take screenshots for one post)! Below are some of the options.

Dock
The Dock application comes with a screenshot feature. A lot of people miss it because the screenshot icon is grayed out. To take a screenshot with Dock you just bring up the screen you would like to take a screenshot of and then open the Starbust that Dock puts in the lower right corner of your iPhone. [Read more…]

Caissa Chess 0.89

Caissa There are a few pretty cool new features with version 0.89 of Caissa. The most obvious is that the options in the lower menu now have little icons! Very cool! Also, there is now the option to flip the board…this will flip the black and white piece to the opposite side of the board…so, if White is on the top of the board and you tap Flip, it will move it to the bottom and put Black at the top. There were also supposed to be new letter markings…making the bottom go from H to A instead of A to H but, mine did not change. [Read more…]

Taskbar Notifier for 1.0.0-1.1.2

I was soooo excited to see that the dajavax source not only had the updated Taskbar Notifier for 1.1.3 but also versions 1.0.0-1.1.2!! Jacob had wrote a post about this app and it’s updates for 1.1.3…and let me tell you…I was feeling a little left out! I love this app and it is even cooler now that it not only adds an icon to your Taskbar when you have a missed text message or a new email but when you have a missed phone call (and those icons are just so cute!)!!! Now all it needs is an icon if you have a new voicemail! Check out the screenshots below. [Read more…]

PhotoDial 1.0

PhotoDial A new app PhotoDial is available through the Makayama Software source. This app allows you to call someone by selecting their photo…in order to use this app you will have to have photos added to your Contacts. PhotoDial opens to thumbnails of all your contact’s photos (and for the life of me I cannot figure out any order they are in…definately not alphabetical). To scroll through your contact’s photos just swipe you finger on the screen…you will notice that there are the infamous “white dots” at the bottom so you can tell where you are in your contacts. You can also tap the plus button in the upper right corner to make the photos bigger and then scroll through them that way…just tap the minus button in the upper left corner to make them small again…hit the minus button again to display nine or sixteen photos at a time. Along the bottom menu you will see five options; [Read more…]

Updated to iTunes 7.6.1.9

I just updated my iTunes to the newest version (7.6.1.9)…so far, everything seems to be working fine, my iPhone synced with no problem. I’m not sure what the update to iTunes changes (if you do…let me know in the comments) maybe they are preparing for the release of SDK?! Anyway…so far no issues with the new version of iTunes and my 1.1.1 iPhone. Though, I only have 127.4MB of free space left…I better start uninstalling!!

How to create a symbolic link

A lot of apps or addons to apps use the root folder instead of the mobile folder. When running 1.1.3 this is annoying when installing a theme, eBook, etc.

For example let’s use the app Books. Some eBooks when installed through Installer place the eBook file into the /private/var/root/Media/EBooks folder. Now with 1.1.3, the Books app needs the eBook file to be in the /private/var/mobile/Media/EBooks folder. Notice the only thing that changed is the root to mobile but without this change it won’t work. So, you can create a link from one to the other. Below is an example [Read more…]

Tetris! 1.2

Tetris! Tetris! is tetris hence it’s name. It is far superior over Tetromino which is also a tetris game. You can get it from the newATTiPhone.com source. It requires Jiggy Runtime in order to actually play it so, make sure you install that first! When you open up the game for the first time it will ask you for your name. The game requires a name because Tetris! has a high score table. On the actual game screen you will notice the buttons “pause” and “hold piece”. The biggest difference from Tetromino is that there is NO physical arrow buttons. Tetris! uses the capabilities of the Iphone/Ipod. You use finger swipes to play the game. Swiping your finger upward will [Read more…]
