		<description>LOL, I never thought about it that way. For me the 0th fret was annoying because it overlapped the nut (more guitar lingo), at the top of the neck. With this fret gone, the app has a smoother look.</description>

The frets on the guitar neck are used to determine the note you&#039;re playing on each string. i.e: the 5th fret of the 6th string is an A note. on the 3rd fret is a G (they are those pieces of metal that are glued to the neck).
An &quot;open fret&quot; is just the string played open. No fingers on the neck. So there&#039;s no reason to appear on the fretboard, since you&#039;re playing an open string.
I hope the info was somehow usefull.
