3G iPhone to be released at WWDC June 9th

If you read our news page you already know most of this info because everyone is talking about it. Now of course Apple hasn’t announced this but there are so many signs like this internal memo from UK carrier O2:

“Due to the highly successful sales of the Apple 8GB iPhone, supply chains have run out of stock and will not be replenishing stock of this product as it has now gone to end of life.”

The 3G iPhone will most likely be announced during the WWDC, June 9th – 13th with sizes of 16GB & 32GB and minor design changes. Rumor lists include true GPS, thinner design and camera in front (video chat).

  1. In my mind; end of life of the 8GB iphone doesn’t necessarily allude to preparations for a new version of the device, it could simply be that revenues are higher for the 16GB model, or that it’s being discontinued because the 16GB model has or will effectively take its place.

That said, a new version of the device is inevitable; it’ll be interesting to see how much of the speculation is true.

  2. Phil, Washington, DC says

I will believe it when, I see it…then I’ll buy it. Then Jailbreak it.

  3. thats crap, i brought my iphone on monday and now there bringing a new one out, i think i might take it back!!! get my money back

  4. Thinner design? And the thing has 3G? That’s some seriously horrible battery life.

  5. iChopPryde says

Wow I might just be tempted to buy the new iphone if it has a camera on the front and its 32gig size that would be absolutely perfect hard drive size!

  6. i hate when this happens, the iphone isnt even a year old and theres already gonna be a new one. then they will forget about the old one. for example, i have a psp and then they go and make a psp slim, and release skype for the new one, but not the old one. i know im gonna get the 3g iphone, but i already have an iphone and i love it, i dont want to ‘forget’ about it. im sure they will start making apps for the new iphone that wont work on the old one. in a way, i dont want this rumor to be true, even though it probly is

  7. ok well kewl I’ll use my baby 4 gig just for testing :) I’ll get the new one .. if not for the camera alone.. till then would love an app that let’s you see yourself when taking pics.. while very cute my friends are tired of seeing my left eye and ear :)

  8. Still not perfect .. cut and paste WITH the camera on the front and 32 gig with real mms … THATS A PERFECT PHONE!!

  9. i cant wait

  10. off topic.. ok what’s with the ALLIPODHACKS REPO? When you install it you get a bunch of pop ups with messages about how he isn’t approciated for all his hard work. I mean seriously? I don’t know about you but when I’m lost in my iPhone world.. I really don’t need a guilt trip while trying to install a source.. whine whine whine .. this website is WORK .. I really wish he or she would remove those ” oh woe is me ” pop ups!!! :) sorry had to be said..

  11. More info at Engadget – The second-gen iPhone: 3G, GPS, only slightly thicker

    – The first thing people will notice: the 2nd gen iPhone will be about the same size and shape as the first gen.
    – It will, of course, have 3G. And proper GPS!
    – The most noticeable physical difference is back of the phone is no longer metal — the whole thing is glossy black, from top to bottom.
    – The volume buttons are now chrome.
    – Because it’s got a little less metal to deal with, it doesn’t have quite as many angular edges.
    – The battery is (still) not removable.
    – The phone itself will be slightly thicker than the first gen device.
    – The headphone jack will no longer be recessed, and will finally be flush with the body.
    – The device itself uses roughly the same size and resolution screen as the first generation product.
    – No solid word on battery life or storage capacity.

  12. so do i need to sell my 8gb unlocked iphone now to get 3g phone or should i wait….prices would be outrageous for early adopters…

  13. SeijinZero says

will the 32gb iphone have a bigger partition for apps? otherwise why bother!

    • Alan Moore says

i dont see y not? and if you jailbreak you will be able to use bosstool to move your apps to the bigger partition soo….

  14. Stephanie says

So with the new iphone coming out, will it be locked to just 1 network? and what about hacks? will the new one be able to be hacked? they might have made the coding tougher as the old one everyone managed to hack……..

I dont think i am gonna buy a the new one until there is a hack available for it.

  15. Okay.. I have a 16gb and I would love to get the 3G when it comes out. Do you think if my iPhone “breaks” and i go to the Apple Store I will be able to get the new one instead of the old one? Even if I pay the difference in price? (if there is one)

  16. Bernard Tse says

So the new iphone is out in this June (as i expected)
by the way, i will go to US this summer, i want to get the new 3G version, jailbreak it, and then bring it back to my country. Is that possible? i heard that you have to sign a 2 years deal with at&t so…..

  17. Im hearing that this a total rumor and while they may release a new phone soon , all this talk ( along with the fake touched up pictures) is all hype.. who knows what to believe anymore.
