TimeCapsule 0.31b1

TimeCapsule Version 0.31b1 of TimeCapsule adds one new features (but it is a cool new feature!). You are now able to hide applications. However, when I installed the update…TimeCapsule would open to the splash-screen, go dark like it was trying to load the application and then close back to the SpringBoard. I tried restarting my iPhone to no avail. So, I took a chance and I uninstalled iVirusScan. After iVirusScan was uninstalled…I restarted my iPhone and tried to open TimeCapsule again and it worked. So, I’m not really sure what the deal is with that….maybe not compatible with each other? However, that is not the only problem had with this update. When I finally got into TimeCapsule…all my back-ups were gone. I also had some issues with the Hide Feature but first let me explain the Hide feature.

The Hide feature can be initiated by tapping on the top status bar which then turns on Hide mode. Once Hide mode is one, just tap on the apps you would like to hide and they will turn grey. You can then tap on the Status Bar again to turn off Hide mode. When Hide mode is on, the status bar will be red…when it is off, the status bar will be grey. If you selected apps to be hidden, when you turn off Hide mode, they disappear from your list of apps that can be backed-up. To unhide them, just turn Hide mode back on and tap on them again which will ungrey them. Then tap the status bar to turn off Hide mode and they will be added back on your list of apps that can be backed-up.

I did have a few issues the first few times I tried to use the Hide feature. It would try to load Hide mode but then my screen would freeze and I wouldn’t be able to select anything. It would only freeze for a split second but, I still was unable to select apps to hide them. So, I opened and closed the app a few times and turned Hide mode on and off a few times and it started working! Let me know how it goes for you! TimeCapsule is available through the databinge source.

  1. you backups are gone? as in deleted?
I think the issue with TC and McAffee is not specific to this release.. 1 person has reported the issue for previous version of TC, with TC crashing if McAffee is installed

  2. I found the same issue in respect to McAfee iVirusScan with TimeCapule.

    TimeCapsule won!!!

Once I un-installed McAfee iVirusScan worked well.
Only thing I found that differed from your original post is that I did not loose my previous backups.
Not sure why mine remained and you lost yours.

  3. I didnt havę that prôblem luckly timecapsule worked just fine with mcafee installed

  4. Good I came to know that Mcafee and TC have a Conflict !!
Now I will not install Mcafee !

TC is the best !!! :)

  6. Hey Folks,

If like me you struggled to get your Installer Sources Restored:

    Method 1

    1) before you restore your iphone use winscp to navigate to /var/mobile/library/installer (fw1.1.4) or /var/root/library/installer (fw1.1.2 and below). extract and copy PackageSources.plist and TrustedSources.plist to your desktop.

    3) proceed with restoring-jailbreaking-unlocking-3rd party app installation of your iphone.

    4) then using winscp, navigate back to /var/mobile/library/installer (fw1.1.4) or /var/root/library/installer (fw1.1.2 and below). copy back the PackageSources.plist and TrustedSources.plist to your iphone.

    5) launch installer app and refresh our sources. that’s it!

    Method 2

    1) before restoring your phone, if you have timecapsule installed, back-up your installer using timecapsule.

    2) using winscp, /var/mobile/library/timecapsule/installer(fw1.1.4) or /var/root/library/timecapsule/installer(fw1.1.2 and below).extract and copy PackageSources.plist and TrustedSources.plist to your desktop.

    5) launch installer app and refresh our sources. that’s it! ;)
