OmniFocus Coming Soon

OmniFocus OmniFocus is a task management program that is scalable from entire projects to simple shopping lists. Many Mac users already know what Omnifocus is but if you want to learn more details about the desktop version and their services check out their website. I’ve had this great idea for an iPhone app but it looks like they beat me to it. Although my version requires running in the background. Basically it notifies you of tasks based on your geo location. Now since Apple won’t allow it to track you and can’t run in the background I assume you will have to open the app to check if there is something you need to do near a specific location.

Here’s how I’m guessing it’s could work: Let’s say you live in a residential area but you’re going into a certain area where there is many shopping centers and stores or a mall would work too. Once you enter the area you could open OmniFocus and it would locate you. Then it would tell you what needs done in that area and what stores are around, then give you shopping lists, etc. It could tell you what to pickup, what bill to pay, what sale you wanted to check out, and even remind you to get your oil changed since you’re near a quick lube.

The possibilities are endless but here’s some more features. OmniFocus adds audio recording and pictures if you want. Sounds like MoleSkine. Not only does this keep you on task and remind you of things, but you can build task lists too. Since this app isn’t out yet, we will know more details when it is released in the app store. This will most likely be a paid for app or come with the paid OmniFocus service.

Appkle has a push service for all apps. they said in keynote . so need of background jobs you will get notifications

    • That’s correct, but the push service is one way, to your iPhone from the service. It only allows for badge, sound & text notifications. Your GPS location won’t be tracked and if the app is closed, so it can’t remind you to pick up your dry cleaning if you’re near the dry cleaners because it can’t send your location. This is because Apple doesn’t allow the app to run in the background and doesn’t allow realtime tracking info to apps.

  2. Sidebar question:
A while back a app called: MCleaner was released but to date no review has been offered of this app.
    Is there a reason why?
Is it to much lick iBlacklist, or is it Blacklist?

Since they all cost money I was hoping that additional light could be shed on the app and its differences or what it offered over the related to apps.

    Thanks
