iBlackList 1.9.1 – Filter Incoming Calls and Texts

iBlackList I have tested this application many times on many different version and have never done a reivew of it due to the fact that I did not think that it functioned well enough. Well, I am actually quite satisfied with version 1.9.1 of iBlackList. Below is a full review of the application. However, I am going to give a brief warning first. I have never used a call/sms filtering application that works completely perfectly and iBlackList is no exception. Please read this review and install at your own discretion.

iBlackList is an application that allows you to filter your incoming calls and text messages. After installing the application you will want to restart your iPhone. Do not skip this step…make sure you restart after installing. When you open iBlackList, you will come to a password screen. The default password is 1. After you have entered 1 and selected Confirm Access, you will get the main menu. There you will see quite a few options including; the option to Enable the application, Blacklist, Whitelist, View History, Active List, Call Settings, SMS Settings, Scheduler, Extras and Password.

The first thing you will want to do is change your password. To do so, select the Password option. Here you can choose to turn off the password and you can change your password. Once you are finished, select Save Password.

You will be brought back to the main menu screen. You will now want to set up your lists. To add a number to your BackList or WhiteList, just select it. Here you will get a default category titled General BL. You can delete that category and create your own if you would like. Next, you will want to select a category (either General BL or one you have created). The next screen is where all the numbers in that category will be listed…select the + icon in the upper right corner to add a number to the list. You can add a number from your Contacts, from your Recent Calls or from your Recent SMS. You can then choose if you want to block Calls, SMS or both from that number. You can also change the Display Name and Display Phone Number for that Contact. When you have everything the way you would like it, select Add to List. You will then see that number added to the list. You can add more numbers to the list by selecting the + icon again or you can go back to the main menu by selecting Back.

Back on the main menu, you can also view your Call History. The numbers you enter into your BlackList will not show up in your stock SMS application or Call History (if they leave a voicemail, it will go into your stock Voicemail) however, you can see them in the View History option in iBlackList. It will display the date, time, contact name and contact phone number. In the lower menu bar, you can also choose to see only missed Calls or only missed SMS. If you select a missed call on the list, you are given the option to call the number back. If you select a missed sms on the list, you are able to view the enter text message and then are given the option to reply.

Back on the main menu, you will notice an Active List option. This option allows you to choose which category list you would like active. It displays all the categories you have created in your BlackList and WhiteList. So, lets say you create a Family category in your WhiteList and you are about to go to a meeting or to bed at night, you can select your Family category and you will only receive calls from numbers in that category. Or, lets say you have a BlackList category titled Do Not Answer, you can select that category and filter only those calls.
iBlackList 1.9.1 iBlackList 1.9.1

You are also able to choose from Call and SMS settings. In the Call Setting, you have the option to have Calls sent directly into your Voicemail, get a Busy Signal or No Action. The Busy Signal option will give the caller a quick busy signal and then the call will drop. The No Action option sounds will ring and then goes to your voicemail, like a normal call would (though, you do not hear it ring…it only sounds as if it is for the caller). I have tested all of these options and they all work correctly. The Call and SMS Setting also have the option to turn on/off Save History, Delete Recent Calls, Restrict Number, Address Book Only, Show Statusbar Icon and Vibrate.

Back on the main menu, you also have the option to turn on a Scheduler. This allows you to schedule categories to turn on/off at specific times during the day. So, if you do not want a call from anyone but family from 11:00pm until 7:00am, you can select the Family category and the set those times for each day.
iBlackList 1.9.1 iBlackList 1.9.1

The Extras option allows you to turn on/off Call Privacy, SMS Privacy and Call Forwarding Privacy.
iBlackList 1.9.1 iBlackList 1.9.1

This is a very in depth application that has a ton of features. If you take the time to learn what everything does, it can be a very useful application. I only had a few random issues when using iBlackList and most of those were my own fault! To help avoid any issue, make sure you restart your iPhone (not just respring the SpringBoard) whenever you make changes in the application. Also, the free version of the application only allows two number in the BlackList and two numbers in the WhiteList. The full version costs $8.00 USD. iBlackList is available through the iClarified source.

Note: Don’t forget to Enable iBlackList – make sure to restart your iPhone.

which one is better? iblacklist or Mcleaner

    • That has been my question for the last 2 weeks.
      Thanks for also asking…

I have heard NOTHING from anywhere as to this application.

      Hope to soon though

      Thanks

    • I have used all 3 and I find that iBlacklist is the most stabe amongst them…

    • mcleaner, the setting to hang up a call or ignore a call does not work, the calls are blocked, but the caller is still able to leave voice message and also SMS message, i have been e-mailing them for three weeks now, and the person seems like he can’t speak english, keeps asking what is the problem and i have e-mailed him the issues 4 TIMES!! i told him the soft ware does not hang up the call or ignore the call. That is when i get a e-mail asking what is the problem THREE TIMES, iblacklist works, but i am still working with it, calls are blocked and busy signal works, but SMS are still geting through. give me a min.

    • I used iblacklist before, sometimes it blocks number that’s not on the block list, but the ‘send to busy signal’ option works. Mcleaner’s ‘hang up’ option does not work when selected, it keeps sending the calls to vmail, even though it doesn ring the phone.

  3. i forgot to restart when i enabled it and now its stuck on the apple sign??? how do i fix this??

    • Use SSH and delete iBlasklist under Applications. Hold the home and on/off button till iPhone reboots. you should be able to get Iphone back up and running.

    • i had the same problem and i had to restore my iphone ;(((

I like the product. However I was fairly amazed when I went to the company website. In order to buy the product, instead of simply listing a email address to paypal the money directly to them, they wanted me to enter my paypal email address and password directly into their site. No way in the world……Think they are a bit confused over website security for paypal. I am awaiting a reply back from them.

  9. avicenna says

    Hi Robert
have you any e-mail address of iblacklist ????if you have please let me know , thanks

    hi jeremy
    thank you for e-mail address

  11. I too am curious about the payment for this app. 8 bucks is a good deal. Still wondering if Mcleaner is better though

    • I’m not sure how you would define better since both programs do the same thing. Try them both and make a decision based upon what you like. The options for MCleaner is easier to understand IMO although I do use iBlacklist.

  12. Did you purchase the full version of iblacklist?
Still not sure about putting my Paypal out there

  13. I can confirm that I made payment and got my code via email a day later. After making payment via paypal I sent a copy of the receipt to the developer to speed up the process.

It’s a great program and $8 is a great price as most of us spend more money on a starbucks coffee.

  16. I bought this app…its amazing! i recommend it over Mcleaner and all others. It does a fab job!

  17. ronal mesa says

hi i need to now how to istall iblacklist in the 1ers generation iphone but upgrated to the 2.0 version thanks

  18. in the “extras” section of the app, here are the instructions from the iBlacklist website:

“- Call Privacy – This disables the popup of missed calls on your lock screen.

    – SMS Privacy – This disables all types of notifications about missed SMS’s, including the popups.”

My question is whether these setting apply only to those numbers/calls filtered by the app, or if turning the settings on will eliminate all pop-up notifications about missed calls/SMS’s? The only pop-ups I want to eliminate are those for filtered numbers. The rest are quite useful. Any help?

    Thanks!

Does iBlacklist work on the new 3G iPhones?

if so how do you load it> Has anyone got Installer 4.0 beta to work with this – I think this is required to access the source on a 3G iPhone

  20. how can i buy it by appstore (i have a 3g iphone and i dont want unlock it)

  21. this one guy says

i just updated the iblacklist and it messed up my phone.. did anyone else update thiers too and is there a solution to it? because now it goes back to the apple symbol like when it restarts, and there is a spinning cog now. so if theres any way i could fix this, please help me out..

  22. I encounter problem with my iphone and I restored it, however, after I restored it, I have problem installed back IBlacklist , i received prompt message of “Main script execution failed!” …I can find the icon but unable to un-install it. Can anyone advise?

  23. Had no problems with iBlacklist for some time until I upgraded to the new version. I then also got the spinning cog which stayed on the screen. The only thing I could do was to reset the phone by hoding both buttons, and uninstall, then re-install the application from scratch… New version worked correctly then. Apart from this issue, have been very impressed with the app, no complaints.

  24. I have just installed this App and it does not seem to have affected my phone, my issue is that it seems very complicated to set up or am i just being dense? when i try to enter a contact to block (SMS) it takes me back to my home page and i have to start again, am i mising something really obvous here, has anyone else had this problem whilst setting up, please help as i think this is a great idea and would love to be able to use.

  25. Only works with 1.1.4 !!!

  26. BJ996 – Agree with you, does not work and further more it is too COMPLICATED to use, have used ACM on a nokia, worked wonderfully well – I heard Mcleaner is pretty good and on the face of it looks like ACM, this iBlacklist does not have divert call to a specific number, unless i am missing something, Bottom line is it should be easy and quickly used. This is not

  27. when is iblacklist coming out for 2.0 firmware with out bugs, becuase on 1.1.4 if the blacklist number called consecutive time back to back to back to back the number will glitch through and the phone will ring!!!!! which is not good at all?????? ANYONE KNOW!!!!!!

  28. can anybody help me, please? i placed a password in my blacklist but now i can’t seem to remember it? does anybody know how could i retrieve it or whatever?

    thanks.

  32. “Use SSH and delete iBlasklist under Applications”
Could someone please advise what “SSH” is? Do you delete IPhone applications from your laptop (with Iphone connected) or directly from the IPhone??

  33. When filtering calls and text will they show up on the carriers call log bill?

  34. Irine Ram says

Hey, I installed iBlacklist but it’s not showing up in my iphone – what do I do?

  35. louistenstageous says

    Brooke,

Are applications like iBlacklist only available on jailbroken phones because you can not program apps to do what they do on a regular iPhone? In other words, can you not write code to access or filter incoming calls or texts on a non-jailbroken iPhone?

  36. Its useful app to filter your calls;)

  37. Ihave version 3.1.2 on my phone. I installed the app with no problem- I setup a BL contact and it filters it so I dont hear/see it ringing however the call still goes to voicemail even though I have it set to busy signal. has anyone else seen this?

  38. How to use this

  39. Yeah, I bought this product then not three weeks later, broke my iphone physically. I’ve sent them at least three emails with my new Serial number and they are just blatantly ignoring me and won’t let me activate the phone on my new number.

They’ll take your money but sure won’t give you any support.

  40. i am interested in this product for the full version is the 12.00 for a full time subscritpion or is that a yearly fee

  41. tried this does not work well.I tried to protect by password and I can’t input password because I have not access to the complete keyboard.and i have to dig inside the config files because uninstall/reinstall/reset/power off does not clear the ini files…

  42. Have been using this app since last week. Setting up was a bit confusing but after a few attempts managed to work out the settings. Now it works just fine. Great application ! Does a good job.

  43. i purchased iBlacklist a few months ago after being harassed by these random 11 digit “252” numbers that would call me 10+ times a day and a person would go “hello? hello?” with a dog barking in the back and would not respond when i demanded to know who was calling and then hang up. i have a feeling this is voice recording of some sort and a scam to try to get people to pick up or something…since i’ve got iblacklist, i havent been harassed by these calls. and if a new number comes in, i just add in to the list. its definitely worth the purchase, since most phone companies charge you a monthly fee anyway to block numbers and at least this one you can manage on your own. im very pleased with the product despite being skeptical at first.

definitely get iblacklist if you are being harassed by scammers! it works!

  44. With IBlacklist… can someone tell me what happens when someone on your blacklist sends you text message?? What kind of notification do you receive and what kind of notification do they revceive?

  45. How do you find calls made to people on the IBlacklist of someone else’s iphone phone?

  46. When you have this for a non-jailbroken iPhone 4, I’ll buy it immediately. I’d gladly pay $20 for it on a non-jailbroken iPhone.

  47. why not just jailbreak the iphone? Apparently it’s the best thing you could do as long as you have Cydia. But I have a question for someone/anyone… Is is true that you can hide the numbers dialled or missed from your normal call log? Same thing for texts. Can you separate the texts that you don’t want people to see in your ordinary phone ‘inbox’ and keep them stored separately??

  48. Question:

iBlacklist sms/mms/phonecalls history be visible on the carriers phone bill?
