I guess that apple is going to allow people to sign a contract that says you will activate the phone within 30 days after purchasing it or get fined for when you do eventually activate it. This way people can still activate the phones at home, but if they wait too long they get screwed with bills. So basically, don’t go buy an iphone for someone right away, and then wait until Christmas to give it to them.

No mention of Rogers $35 activation fee.
Do Americans pay this as well? Or are Canadians the only ones who get gouged by this.

No, I won’t buy them a Gift Cert because the whole point is for them not to stand in line!

You’re right, you won’t be able to unlock it as easily, but even for jailbreaking an AT&T one you had to re-activate them with iTunes.

BUT, we are never going to be able to get an unactivated iPhone without the contract !
