This is the mobile messaging application we’ve all been waiting for. AgileMessenger is a multi service chat application that includes ICQ, MSN, AOL, Yahoo!, Jabber and GoogleTalk. This application is smooth, works over edge or wifi, has tons of features, runs in the background more. Yes, running in the background is going to effect your battery but this can be changed in the Preferences. The interface is great and the tab feature works great.
My only complaint is the sound effects. The current sound is a little annoying and once a sound is made my audio becomes all muffled. It would be sweet if each service had their own original sound effect. I made a quick video to show you how great this really is. You can get AgileMessenger through the ModMyiFone source.

looks awsome :) but the sound effects is indeed annoying. You should be able to turn them off. Hopefully in a future update! :)
Well this is the one I have been LONG awaiting.
I used this with on my i930, Axim 40h, m220, and let me share you that in my opinion its the BEST by far.
I was SO, SO, happy to see this appear in my Installer yesterday, I actually wondered it could be the same app,
I feel like I got a ole friend back, after trying what chat apps that found for the iPhone this by far is the best for me.
Its user friendly app with a lot of options.

this is awesome…. But there is a lot to improve like sending photos that you have in the camera roll (now you can only take a bew one), and a lot of settings like name, and others…
the greatest thing would be a setting for appear like if you were in a computer…would be great!
Conclusion: uninstalled the mobile chat and took this for my applications

Has to be the best looking chat app so far and runs great. Shame i cant use it as i keep getting bad username/password even though they are correctly filled in :(, mind you that was over edge havent tried over wifi so fingers crossed it will work then but im not putting much faith in it working tho as fring seems to be the only chat app that works for me with MSN
Very good app! I installed it on my ipod touch but sometimes it crashes. When i write to others i can’t see what i’m writing because the backround of the text is black… Can i solve this?
I have this problem too
other Chat problems had the same issue, this is because they don’t use a color as background, but components of the iPhone SMS interface. Since the ipod touch doesn’t have it, you get the problem. If you install SMS (i think it was SMS) on your system this should work.

Good question Jason, I would like to know that as well. If its data usage I will be all over it and I mite still get it if its not, but i will be more reluctant to use it if its free.

I have a way to fix the muffled sound you will need to replace the NewMessage.wav file in /applications/am/resources folder with one that is higher quality i used a .caf file i downloaded from the customize app and used quicktime to export it as a .wav and it works great no more muffled sound let me know if this works for everyone else

great application, however I can’t use it to send SMS to icq users, it tells me that it is not posible to send a message to an offline user (all the contacts I have in icq are only ‘phone contacts’ so they are always offline)..
You can use two fingers scrolling left to right to move between tabs, as well as double click on names to start a chat.
‘rigid menus’ in the menu also takes away the annoying bouncy feel of the menus.
Brandon- can you use http://drop.io/ to post the new sound file so everyone else can use it?
The one thing it doesn’t do is sending offline messages…some of my friends were on invisible mode and sending me messages and i couldn’t respond to them back unless they go back onto visible..
@Douglas Where did you get that sound when you type on the iphone keyboard? It sounds different than the stock one.

and when the chat name is too long i can’t close it because the name is in the “menu” button
and i came up with something, lets rename the contact :D
but no, i can’t rename them when i try it, it says “failed”

Just tried it over wifi and MSN still doesnt work for me. Is it becasue my MSN ends with .co.uk instead of .com as googletalk logs in fine. Shame cos i love the look and feel of this app :(
The Copy and Paste is GREAT!!…what a great app.
I can’t seem to DELETE a contact….anyone else having this problem? I seem to have a huge list of contacts that are NOT online…that I hvae no clue who they are…but I can’t delete them.

I can delete and rename contacts. Interestingly when a buddy IMed me this morning I could not IM him back because it said he was offline. I simply re-added his email address and magically he was online. So I think there are some bug issues that have to be worked out. This was on an MSN account where that happened to me.
Wow the best Chat application for the Iphone so far. I also can’t seem to rename a contact and whenever i press the home button it disconnects me.

This app was awesome until I updated to 1.0.18. It now crashes whenever I try to open a new chat window on MSN. Also my AIM wont sign on anymore. I get “System. Rate limit exceeded (reservation). Please try to reconnect in a few minutes.” Everything was working great on 1.0.16. Anybody else having these problems? This is one of those “Oh man, I should have waited for a review about the update from AppleiPhoneSchool!” lol.

This app is a lot better than the mobile chat app. Just like some of you guys said, when the received message sound came on it muffled my sounds and the stock sound was pretty annoying. I simply ssh’d into my iphone and replaced the default received message sound in agile mobile with the received message sound from mobile sms(The mobile sms sound was an .aiif file, so i just changed it to .wav to work with agile mobile). I also didnt like the icon that agile mobile has so I found one online that I liked and ssh’d that as well. No more ugly icon and no more annoying/muffled sound!
whenever i try to install this app, it downloads, then when it starts to install the installer quits back to my home screen… any ideas? it does this whenever i try to install an ap!

i can`t seem to make it connect to my icq , i put the ID and the password i click connect then i see the Icq on my computer gets message i had been signed off cos i was signed up on other computer but the iphone continues trying to connect and after alot of waiting it goes to offline status . Is it possible this to be because im trying to use it from my wireless at home ? may be i need to set some settings on the router to fix it ? browsing , apple weather and all other aplications seem to be ok with the wireless …

installed the application yesterday but have an issue with contacts showing up as “offline”. I can receive the messages from people but can’t send them. Does anyone know how to solve the “offline” problem?

finaly i installed agilemobile after 3 days and now is working , it’s nice but sometimes crash.
if yours always , keeps saying package failed , you must try again and again at least 20 times per day , so i did it like that and i install it .

hmm… The app doesnt work on edge for me. Is anyone having the same problem?
it was working great for me intially. I hit exit while in an IM, and now I can’t get it to connect to any networks anymore.
“All connections failed” is the error I get now. Which is odd, as it worked perfectly yesterday.
Shame too, as its a great program when it works.
