Update on What PwnageTool 2.0 will Support

Dev TeamThe Dev Team continues to keep us updated on their progress. They are still trying to work out a few bugs (scroll way down) but, they have posted a list on what PwnageTool 2.0 supports so far. It looks as though everything can be jailbroke and activated however, they do not have the iPhone 3G unlocked yet. Check it out:

So, currently (when released) PwnageTool 2.0 will support:-

    • iPhone (1st Gen) with 2.0 – Activated, Unlocked & Jailbroken, (with support for third party applications).

    • iPod Touch with 2.0 – Activated & Jailbroken, (with support for third party applications).

    • iPhone (3G) with 2.0 – Activated, Jailbroken (with support for third party applications).

We’ve made some progress on the baseband unlock of the 3G device, but at this point PwnageTool will not support 3G unlocking or BootNeuter on the 3G device. It is, of course supported on the first generation device with 2.0. We’ll push out an update with 3G support if and when it is completed.

As soon as we fix this up and test a bit more we’ll be ready for release, we’ll get back to you with a release schedule soon.

Below is the rest of the update via the Dev Team.

So we’ve been working hard on getting the release ready and during this process we’ve been fixing some final bugs, the actual base of PwnageTool application is working fine and working with all devices that we support. We’ve been restoring our devices to various firmware revisions so that we can try to reproduce the conditions that most users will have. We are able to fully install any applications on any part of the current devices running 2.0 (and b103) and these versions are the iPhone 114, iPhone 2.0, iPhone 3G.

Apple released an update (b103) just before we were about to release and that support had to be added to the current version, it is pointless to release something that doesn’t work on devices out of the box (we’ve been told new 3Gs will have this firmware), we don’t want drama, and we want to do as little support as possible, so we want to make it right the first time.

It was lucky that we delayed slightly as we discovered a bug that causes unexpected behavior when using AppStore and third party applications on the same device. We are working on fixing that bug now, we don’t anticipate it is a big one, it has some really odd side effects, causing WiFi dropouts and the loss of stored passwords for WiFi networks. Of course this is only a minor software issue, nothing like the horrible static MAC address that another “elite byte adjuster” forced upon their users.

  1. So how about the Windows users? Winpwn?

  2. Eeek get that baby released soon. my 1st gen iphone on 2.0 is screaming out for the installer.

  3. what does “iPhone (3G) with 2.0 – Activated, Jailbroken (with support for third party applications).” actually mean? what do the “unlocked” part do?

    • Unlocked enables you to use any sim card on any GSM network. Jailbroken enables you to install third party applications via installer and cydia and if you are on 2.0 firmware, also from the App store.

    • so if you already have an AT&T sim-card it should work even if it isn’t unlocked? just activated and jailbreaked.

    • Yes.

  4. Do they always have to bring in the Ziphone issue? let it go guys…that’s old news. we have all moved in but you!!!

    • You so call dev team is already selling the unlock code. Same thing they’ve always wanted to do with the last one and zibri and others released for free. Key work unlock not jailbreak.

  5. this is good i cant wait till the 2.0 fermware jailbroken and hopefully they can get instsller and customize and thie app store on the jailbreak

  6. patient is a virtue that our society needs but does not have …

So how come there is no Pwnage 2.0 for windows? I mean it would make sense to support the widest possible user base.

  8. I originally used ziphone to jailbreak my first generation iphone, after many restores and a lot of reading, i decided to try iliberty+. From what ive seen and also read i can say ziphone is horrible. Plus the devolper is known to be “sloppy” NO ONE SHOULD USE ZIPHONE, restore and use pwnage or iliberty(+)

I have used ZiPhone to jailbreak my phone and haven’t had a problem whatsoever. I am completely aware and understand that not everyone has had my good fortune. I’ve read BigBosses warnings also about ZiPhone. If given the choice I might not use ZiPhone again. However my iPhone hasn’t had the need to ne restored for months. And that’s with all the abuse I put my phone through 3rd Party Applications wise.

I’m a WINDOWS user so once WinPwn is released and I actually get my hands on a iPhone 3G I will of course go that route. Its sad what is being said about Zibri. If he indeed did steal anything to make ZiPhone then shame on him. But I WILL say that in all my experiences with ZiPhone I haven’t ever had an issue. Everything works. And my iPhone looks awesome in all its Customized goodness. I’m in no rush for iPhone 3G. However once I KNOW for sure I can jailbreak it and KNOW that all my favorite 3rd Party Apps (the ones that Apple don’t like) are updated then 3G iPhone here I come. I figure by then I’ll actually be able to get one without having to stand in those rediculous lines (maybe) LOL.

  10. I used ZiPhone with my iPhone 1.0 and it worked pretty well.

After hearing about some of the bugs with it I switched to iLiberty.

    iLiberty has been perfect.

I have never used the PwnageTool with my iPhone 1.0.

    The PwnageTool looks sweet.

I am looking forward to using it.

    8-)

  11. well, ziphone is ok. Nice app and I use it all time for jailbreaking, activate. Not for unlock. Yes there is big problem after unlock.but not with all versions. I think v.2.5.x was.

Anyone knows who is that “elite byte adjuster”?

  13. I never had any problem neither with ziphone and haven’t as said above, had to restore in months too :)
    Looking forward to 2.0 :)

i have a 114 iphone unlocked and jailbroken with ziphone.. i was wondering about upgrading to 2.0, how will that go? i mean people who upgraded already have iphone-bricks now.. so when should i do the upgrade? maybe when winpwn 2.0 is released.. ok, but will i have to do a restore guys? i mean will i have to restore my iphone and then upgrade to 2.0 and then pwn or will i just upgrade and then pwn keeping all my apps and data? in other words, will there be a conflict between ziphone and winpwn when i upgrade without restoring??

  15. i began to understand what dv team are hiding and what zibri are trully hiding i think ill wait for zibri to unlock the iphone and dev team i can say one thing to u the public is for u but not all the public only the “plz i want to unlock it no matter what wak wak wak wak cry as u want and unlock it but dont say no i shouldve wait for zibri and i think zibri will release ziphone 4.0 soon and before u wak peaple can see dev team loosing its wak peaple for all the problems will come out !!!!!!!
