Pwnage has been released. We will be testing it shortly. This is only available for the Mac at this time. If you try it, let us know your results in the comments.

UPDATE: You will need the 2.0 firmware. Use the file you used to upgrade your iPhone to 2.0.
UPDATE 2: So far, not as easy as predicted. Only the 1st Gen iPhone is supported at this time for unlocking. If you’re looking for apps, they aren’t there yet. Installer isn’t even available. Cydia is but no apps yet. There is OpenSSH so you can dig into that if you want :) So, unless you are looking to unlock the 1st Gen iPhone with firmware 2.0, I would wait until Installer and some apps are ported over to 2.0.
UPDATE 3: A few bugs I see. First, you can’t run pwner unless you go through making the custom firmware. Let’s say you’re going to do a second iPhone. You have to go through the process again. If I’m wrong about this let me know. If your iPhone has been pwned before you don’t need to do it again.

then it worked on my G5, but my phone failed to DFU.

There is no installer on 2.0 jailbreak, just Cydia and not many apps either. You can’t use some if not all apps from anything pre 2.0
Ok.. Got Bootloader 4.6.
Pwnage made a Restore ipsw on my desktop.
Now I am waiting to see what School says before I go any further.
(They can probably write off a new phone if it fails! LOL)
According to the dev team, you cannot brick your iPhone under this bootloader. If the phone freezes you just keep trying. I’ve not found one person who follows the directions, to brick their phone, yet.

Ya, isn’t the real problem that none of the 1.1.4 programs in the installer would work with this?
I know a new installer is coming (or included?) but the programs won’t run. None of them.

Yep. In fact, there is a warning in Cydia on launch telling you not to expect any 2.0 apps for a few weeks.
Installer should be ready in a day or two, but you’ll run into the same thing there.

If you use expert mode it says Installer not supported by Cyndia is. That is another installer.

Hey..i used this….i had 1.1.4 i restored using the custom firmware…but i get the emergancy call screen…the fone isnt activated….is it just me…or are all ur fones not activated ?…any help wuld be awsome thanks

Are you AT&T? Did you anser the question correctly when it asked if you were AT&T?
Try a restore (Alt-Click) restore in iTunes and pick your original ipsw for 1.1.4. Then upgrade to 2.0 then use Pwnage.
That should help.
hi, I made the same silly mistake..simply create a new custom ipsw with pwnagetool and this time choose no for “legit” user .. put your iphone into recovery mode and restore it like you did before..
If someone creates a success PWN file and saves it on their MAC will the file work on a PC and if so can someone share??

i cant do it on rapidshare (200 MB limit), but im uploading to megaupload now. once thats done ill give simple instruction on how to do it on windows based off what i understand from the dev team, who gets full credit for this by the way im just giving windows users a quick break.
unfortunately i found out that its illegal to post this or destribute a modified one and would not want to risk getting this site or myself in trouble so im not going to post. if anyone has any suggestions on how to send this legally, id be happy to, although i take no responsibility and do not gaurantee it to work.

Just be patient.
For the iPod touch there isn’t really any reason to use pwn. There aren’t any installer apps so you could just download the 2.0 firmware from the internet and then use iTunes alt-click to restore to that firmware.
I just got a successful pwn, and then realized the same thing. This didn’t do anything to my iPod to allow me to install/mod.

doesn’t matter. you can create the .ipsw even without an iphone connected. in pwnage you can choose what bootloader you want to use, i recommend a neutered one, then it makes the .ipsw and when you restore your iphone in itunes it will neuter the bootloader when it is done restoring.
ok.. does it pwn the device first.. or does it just create the custom firmware? if so .. can we get a copy of the pwned 2.0 ipod touch ipsw?

Wait, I see a bit of contradiction. Or maybe, I’m just confused. Doug, you said that the iPhone software cannot be redistributed, and this will not be available on this site. But, you guys have a page that offers all of the different firmwares except the 2.0 version for the iPod Touch.

Actually the firmware on my site is a direct link to Apple’s servers. That is the difference.
Doug, i understand.. you guys do need to be carefull..( i really like this site.. it is the most straightforward and honest site out there for this type of info!..would’nt want it to go anywhere) but.. can you find out if that will work?? i think that it will not… because when i upgraded to 2.0.. i lost the pineapple logo and custom boot screens.. so i think it will have to be pwned again to use the custom firmwares…just what i think…
it would work because the original firmware (from apple) is obviously the same for mac and windows. i would send it if we could think of a legal way to distribute. (at least i believe it would work).

it will Jailbreak but NOT UNLOCK your 3G iphone… Read the blog… Doug has resumed it all… And if your not with a Mac, it won’t do anything since the Windows version is not out.

has failed to enter DFU mode
Same here :/ (on 2g iphone)
My phone has never been powned, so iI’m selecting NO and instantly comes this failed DFU message. (I’m trying to follow BigBoss guide but I think he confused NO and YES.)
Do we have to enter DFU manually before the it’s done making the .ipsw file? I did and iTunes starts automatically.
That screen confused me too. It’s just a sample of a message you might get in the future. Click the arrow at the bottom to continue past that ‘message’.

just try again. make sure you are payin attention specifically. if you jailbroke 1.1.1 you would understand this and after jailbreaking a few times afer restoring on that and using 1.1.2 the same way you get the hang of it: moral of the story, just try again because i messed up the first time but the second went smooth and that was the only thing that didnt work for me initially but it only cost me twenty seconds.

The only way to get apps at this point for the iPhone 3G is the App Store.

The Dev Team Mentioned a work around for that on their blog…

I ran into errors several times, and even had to restore my phone to the backup I did just before attempting this. My problem came from me having the phone connected the whole time. It would never properly enter discovery mode. And when I attempted to do it myself.. it would throw errors when restoring from the file.
Attaching my phone when asked at the end of the process seems to have worked so far…

at the end when it asks you if your iphon/ipod has been pwned if you say no it just tells you to go into dfu mode when you restore with the custom firmware instead of actually pwning the device

Yes, and any apps you have downloaded from app store for a new phone will sync across to the 1st gen iPhone on 2.0
It works great!! there’s no installer !! yet but everything else worked gr8 awesome work dev team!!!! just had to find official 2.0 firmware and bootloader 3.9 and the pwnage 2.0 creates the custom 2.0 firmware and use it to restore from itunes. thanks lot lot !!!

Great. Downloaded it, but the program doesn’t seem to fully launch. I’m just left with the icon in the dock, and in the menu (and you can’t access any sub menus from that). Any clues gratefully followed.

I have upgraded to 2.0 using the Pwnage tool. Everything seems to be working except my mail. The mail application opens but crashes. Is there anyway we can fix this.
ssh into your phone and reset the permissions of the mail.app…I had this problem once on 1.1.4 and that was the cause…

well i found a way to create a US i tunes account with X amount of money in it! i guess this will allow me to buy apps from the app store even if my region is not supported! i think. i will let you know is what i am doing works!
