@Jesse
How did you get JB'ed? You really need to know about iTunes AND the iPhone to JB 2.1 at this time.

Right above this one ^^^^^^ scroll up, but if you are new at this I suggest you just downgrade your iTunes to 7.7.x and restore with the 2.0.2 firmware, repwnn, and wait for the new Windows version of Pwn. Then you can update to 8.0, and Pwn with the 2.1 firmware. BUT, then, again, if you're JB'ed, you can follow the steps in the post.

If you are on windows, read my post - if you are on OSX downlaod the latest Pwn. If you cannot update then one of these options is necessary. Are you JB'ed?

I cuold not wait for WinPwn or Qickpwn for Windows (I did this before even the MAC version came out) - it was a bit of work, but worth it! iPhone 2G jailbroken, unlocked and activated running 2.1 firmware and iTunes 8.0 - all syncing is good and all apps (Cydia and appstore - I don't use Installer) are working great!

To summarize - if I had to redo everything anyway - I uninstalled iTunes 8, made sure all of ANY itunes related software was uninstalled, and installed iTunes 7.7.x and then restored and then restored again with Winpwn 2.5. THEN I uninstalled AGAIN! :) and then re-installed iTunes 8.0 (no syncing in the meantime) and updated to 2.1 with 8.0. AND IMPORTANT - after you are done updating to 2.1 with 8.0 and you uninstall 8.0 to prepare for the quickpwn as Big Boss has instructed, BEFORE you install the 7.7.x iTunes delete ANY itunes*.itl file that does not have a specific date appended to it - iTunes 7.7.x will not start and 8.0 did an automatic sync (although short) without asking and even though I unchecked automatic syncing during the install of 8.0) WHEW! Any questions? Sorry but I went through a very long process and I hope I help!

Big Boss's Instructions:
Step 1) Download the 2.1 3g firmware or 2g firmware.

Step 2) Install itunes v8 - you can get all versions of iTunes here.

Step 3) Update the iphone with iTunes and make sure it is activated!

Step 4) Uninstall iTunes v8

Step 5) Uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support (From Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel)

Step 6) Install itunes v7.7.*

Step 7) Download quickpwn with the correct 2.1 bundle inside it here.

Step 8) Run quickpwn…select your iPhone1,2_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw or iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw from step 1.

Step 9) You can select cydia and installer and logos if you wish (make sure you select Cydia).

Step 10) When it is finished the phone will reboot…Cydia and Installer will NOT be visible

Step 11) Download TotalCommander and t-pot addon

Step 12) Install TotalCommander and in the left pane navigate to T-PoT.1.1.zip and click on it. It will install t-pot automatically.

Step 13) Download the mobileinstallation patch

Step 14) Use Totalcommander to install patched mobileinstallation to /System/Library/PrivateFrameWorks/MobileInstallation.framework … clickon the dropdown box [-\-] top left and select network neighborhood then t-pot. Reme, ber to back up your original mobileinstallation first!

Step 15) Still in TotalCommander delete /private/var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installation.plist

Step 16) Reboot the phone and all is good!

Yes, as mentioned above the new update doesnt alter the baseband so your phone will remain unlocked. (im on Orange UK)

Ive upgraded my 1st gen from WinPwned 2.0.2 to 2.1 with no problems at all. The phone does seem to run faster, especially the contacts. Time will tell im sure..

Your phone will no longer be jailbroken though, so no cydia or installer. I for one am not that bothered about cydia or installer since there are plenty of apps in the app store.

Hope this helps! Cheers
