Lightsaber Unleashed

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

LightsaberLightsaber Unleashed, formerly known as PhoneSaber, has made it’s way back into the App Store. If you recall, it was removed a while back due to some copyright issues with Star Wars. Well, it seems that the two (the developer and the Star Wars people) have worked together and come up with Lightsaber Unleashed!

When you open the app you get a Star Wars splashscreen and then an info screen. Once you have selected Lightsaber, you will get the main app screen. Here you can pick between 5 characters each with their own light saber color, picture and even a bio [Read more…]

Poll – What type of applications make up the majority of apps on your iPhone or iPod Touch?

AiS It’s poll time again! The last poll was – What firmware is currently running on your iPhone or iPod Touch? Below are the results based on when we added the poll just over a week ago.

* 1.1.4 and below (15%, 494 Votes)
* 2.x (2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, 2.1) (85%, 2,707 Votes)

Total Voters: 3,201

I am on firmware 2.1 (jailbroke using Pwnage…borrowed a Mac to do it!! :) ). It seems that most of you have also upgraded to 2.x as well. Still a feel people holding on to the good old days but, the majority have taken the plunge to the new firmware. I have a feeling some of the 494 still on 1.1.4 and below have unlocked iPhones!!

You can still vote on this Poll in our Poll Archive page. You can also vote/view all the past polls on the Poll Archive page as well. Here is the new poll:

Which type of applications make up the majority of apps on your iPhone or iPod Touch?

Workaround to Unlock & Jailbreak an iPhone 2G to 2.1

iClarified Now, I’m not sure if it works with a 3G iPhone, so feel free to tell me in the comments. The guys over at iClarified (which are notorious for findings and mods) have made an article on how to Unlock/Jailbreak an iPhone 2G. Here’s the link to the article; it also contains download links for everything you will need to do it with. Looks like a easy-ish process, but that’s for you to judge!

Un-Unlockable – Slide to Unlock Mod

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WinterBoard I noticed a pretty cool mod today in Cydia called Un-Unlockable through the ModMyi source. What the mod does is make your “Slide to Unlock” transparent. This means that it will not show up on your lock screen. Instead, you still just see your wallpaper on your lock screen. The “Slide to Unlock” is still there and you still have to slide to unlock your iPhone…you just cannot see it. The first time I locked my iPhone after installing this mod, I panicked a little…I was like, crap it’s gone now what do I do!! But, like anyone who has had an iPhone for a while and uses it everyday, my finger knew exactly where to slide even without having the “Slide to Unlock” prompt. Though, it would definitely keep people out of your iPhone who do not know how to use one!!

Once you have installed Un-Unlockable, [Read more…]

Some of My Favorite Customizations

Apple iPhone SchoolA lot of my friends have iPhones and iPod Touches now and always ask me what I’ve done to customize it and where I got it. So, I thought I would post an article with some of them so everyone can check them out.

Starting with the top of my iPhone, the cellular signal bars… I like to change mine to multicolored bars. So when the signal is low, the bars are red. As the signal is stronger the color moves to orange, then yellow, then green for full strength. I found a couple of options in Cydia that allow you to do this. One is called “Color Signal Bars” and one is “Colored Signal Bars”. The colored one is a little too neon green for me so I went with the first one. Something really annoying with this is that when your status bar is light when some apps are open, the bars turn black. I want them colored all the time. If anyone knows of a different one that is better let us know in the comments. I may just have to SSH in and manually change them :) [Read more…]

AptBackup 1.1-3

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

AptBackup AptBackup is an application in Cydia that makes restoring 1000% less painful. It is in the BigBoss source and is a 43 kB download. Here is the text from the app:

IntelliScreen 2.2

Available In: cydia       Price: $4.99 – $49.99

intelliscreen There is an update to IntelliScreen 2.2, a lock screen enhancing application, in Cydia today. Below is a complete list of changes, bug fixes and known problems. One things that I did find interesting is that the update is said to make IntelliScreen compatible with firmware 2.1 however, Doug and I have both been using IntelliScreen on our 2.1 for a while now and it seemed to work fine. So, I’m not sure what the deal is with that.

One cool new feature includes a new vibration alert that will vibrate with; Mail=2 fast beeps, SMS=2 slow beeps, Call/VM=3 beeps, Calendar=4 beeps. Another cool new feature is that after you make your changes in IntelliScreen, it no longer resprings the SpringBoard. After you make the change and select Apply, the app just closes. It is kind of weird at first because you expect it to respring but I definitly like it!! They also say that that overall InteillScreen is [Read more…]
