AppStore Apps Free Today

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

There are a few apps that are free in the App Store today that are worth mentioning. The first is Fuel Log which allows you to keep track of your miles, gallons, mpg, cost, cost per mile and even gives you a graph of your fuel efficiency. A simple application but definitely a useful one and it is free until Sunday, October 26th 10:00 PST. The other application that is free for a limited time is Invazion which is Asteroids type game. Doug is pretty sure this one wont last long due to copyright so, get it while you can! Both apps were previously $2.99.

Search 1.0

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Search Search is an application that allows you to search for keywords in your Mail, SMS, Notes, Contacts and even on the web. When you open Search, you will notice a lower menu bar with the options; Mail, SMS, Notes, Contacts and Web. At the top of the screen is a Search bar. You can select any of the options in the lower menu bar and then use the search bar to search within that application. The thing that I like about this application is that once it has found an entry you can then select it to see the full Email, SMS message, Note, Contact etc. The Web option will search Google keeping you in the application instead of directing you to Safari so…that is also nice.

New Poll – What type of theme do you have on your iPhone or iPod Touch the majority of the time?

AiS Time for a new poll. The last poll was – On a daily bases when are you mostly likely to charge your iPhone or iPod Touch? Below are the results based on when we added a week ago.

* When I’m in the car. (8%, 125 Votes)

* While I’m at home. (40%, 606 Votes)
* Overnight while I sleep. (66%, 994 Votes)
Total Voters: 1,513

Well, it looks as though the majority of you charge your iPhone or iPod Touch at night while you are sleeping. Doug does that too! I am totally a day charger…I charge my iPhone pretty much all day long since I’m always at home on my computer. You can still vote on this Poll in our Poll Archive page. You can also vote/view all the past polls on the Poll Archive page as well. Here is the new poll.

WootWatch for Today’s Woot-Off!

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

WootWatchWe’ve wrote about Woot before with the application called Woot Assist but with today’s woot-off I’ve found something better called WootWatch. If you’re not familiar with Woot, they sell one item per day at bargain prices until it’s sold out, then you have to wait until the next day for a new product. Every once in a while they do a woot off where once the item is sold out they do a different one all day long.

WootWatch is very nice. At the top you get a nice image of the item, and if there are two images you can swipe to see the other. Double tapping the image brings it full screen, then just tap the x to go back. Under the title is the item’s title and price. Swipping up on the title brings up the full description full screen. Tap the title again to go back. There is a refresh button in the bottom left, and a W! button in the bottom right that takes you to the full site in Safari. The center has a “I want one!” button to purchase the item, again through Safari. [Read more…]

WinterBoard Mods

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WinterBoard There are quite a few mods in WinterBoard today and I want to mention a few…one of which I am excited to tell the ladies about!! I always try to post about any mods that are aimed toward us females, only because there are not a ton of them and so it is nice to know about the few there are. Well, I honestly have not found that I am overly impressed with but, I really like a new theme called KillSignCarbonPink the other mods are titled; Sun and Moon SMS, Icon Shadow and Icon Glow.

KillSignCarbonPink is a very complete theme. It contains icon, slider bar, keyboard, dialer, wallpaper, system, badges, SMS Bubbles, loading screens, battery and many more mods. It is pretty clean and nicely put together. There are a few things I’m not huge on but overall, a decent theme you will want to check out. The next mod is an SMS mod. It changes your SMS Bubble to an yellow and a pearl color. The yellow sms bubbles have have a star and the pearl have a moon. It also has a star wallpaper. It sounds like it could be cheesy but, it is actually a decent design. [Read more…]

3G….Finally!!!

AiS Guys…I’m soo excited. I sat down to write a few posts as we travel and what happens, I look down and I have 3G on my iPhone!!! We do not have 3G where we live (we are supposed to have it no later than Thanksgiving) but we are currently going through Minneapolis, Minnesota and for the first time we have 3G!! YAY!! So, I took a few screenshots and Doug did a quick network test using iNetwork Test (an App Store app). We are currently getting around 1304kbps download where we normally get between 50-150kps. So…I was totally excited. It is amazing what a difference there is when you have 3G!! Everything seems to run faster…even just loading all my text messages! Let us know in the comments what you think of your 3G or lack there of!

Date & Time WinterBoard Mod

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WinterBoard Date & Time is a WinterBoard mod that adds the current date and time to the StatusBar on your iPhone or iPod Touch. I’m not exactly sure why you would need this mod because the time is already on your statusbar and the date is on the Calendar icon. But, if you are looking to see the date and time with one glance…this might just be the mod for you. I did find that if you are using an app that has statusbar notifications, it can overlap the notification depending on how many you have. You can get this mod via the iSpazio source.

The New Look of BossPrefs?

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

bossprefs BigBoss’s website has been moved to a new url (thebigboss.org) and while I was checking it out today, I noticed that he posted about some work he is doing on a new app. I know quite a few of you really like BossPrefs so, you might want to check out the new app. Below are some screenshots and a description from BigBoss’s website.

“The toggles drop down when you swipe along the status bar. It is very fast and can be used while in any app without exiting the app. Suppose you are in Safari but realize your 3g is not yet enabled. Simple! Just swipe the statusbar and tap 3g and resume in safari where you left off. No need to exit safari and load settings or bossprefs.

iDrums 1.0

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

iDrums is a drum simulation application. Once installed and opened, it displays a basic drum set. You can then tap the drums and symbols to get a audio simulation of that instrument. The sound is actually pretty decent. Though, I have no idea how to play drums so those of you who do will have to let me know if they really sound good or not!

Reaction 1.0

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Reaction is a simple little application that “tests your reflexes.” When you open the application, you will get a splash screen. You will then get a pop-up in which you will need to select Play. Once you have selected play, you will see two faces. A larger mad face and a lower smiley face. The larger mad face will change to a smiley face. When it does change you will need to tap the lower smiley face. You will then get a pop-up saying how many milliseconds it took you tap the lower smiley after the upper one changed. If you tap the lower smiley before the upper one charges, you will get a pop-up saying that you need to wait. There is also a “i” icon in the lower left corner that will give you more info about the application. Honestly, I thought that this application was a joke and something was going to jump out at me! Just when I was like all focused and what not…I was convinced something was going to jump out! Personally I do not find this app to be the most entertaining but, let me know in the comments what you think.
