“Apps running in background”… But if I understood it correctly, there will be no applications running in background. There will be only push mechanism, that will notify OS that something happend and OS will then update app icon and will play sound…

I chose MMS because for copy/paste, backgrounding and video recording there are very good FREE 3rd party alternatives (although they require jailbroken iPhone/Touch), and MMS is a commercial app.

Dunno if PdaNet (for tethering) is a freeware, but it’s also available.

I previously used backgrounder to run programs in the background but I was using up too much memory with programs running like that, and apps would crash frequently. It would be nice to see Apple implement this feature themselves.
