I’m sure many of you have heard about the iNav theme…if not, WHAT! JK, it’s totally ok if you haven’t heard about it especially because I’m going to tell you about it right now! iNav is a theme pretty much like no other theme out there. Since it’s release, there have been many themes based off of it but, it was definitly one of a kind! It does take a few minutes (ok, like 20 minutes) and a little work (no SSHing though!) to set up this theme so, I’m going to walk you through it. Our two year old actually uses one of our old iPhones (1st gen)…we have a case on it and child proofed it as much as possible. It keeps him busy wile we are waiting for things…like at the doctor’s office or in a restaurant…he loves it! So, I’m sure most of you are familiar with the game that has different colored dots and the spinny wheel that tells you where to place your appendages called Twister. Well this app attempts to capture that same concept minus the spinney wheel. Finger Twister is a 1-2 player game that can be pretty challenging as dots appear and move around to different locations on the screen. The one player mode starts out with one dot and then quickly moves to two and then three. The hard part is remembering which finger needs to move to the next dot and doing so with out lifting any of your other digits already occupying other dots. [Read more…]

As I was looking over this wallpaper pack, I was thinking…I don’t normally write about wallpaper packs that have a specific theme. Then I realized that I always write about Nature wallpaper packs and that technically is a theme! So, out of fear of being too bias, I bring you Audi Collection v1. STIKi PICi is a fun little application that allows you to enhance your photos. It is based off the concept of the Asian photo booths known as purikuria.
Once you import a photo from your Camera Roll (or take a photo) you can then add frame, stamps, writing and conversation bubbles to the photo. There are a decent amount of frames and stamps to choose from. You can choose both a inside and border color for the writing tool as well as the size of the tool. There are a variety of conversation bubbles to choose from…you can also choose the color, size and font of the text in the chat bubble. One of the first apps I downloaded was Apple’s very own Remote app, and though I don’t use it very much, I was definitely impressed with its ease of use and functionality. It was cool to be able to control my iTunes library on my home computer with my phone. With the success of the Remote app, I wondered what else I could control with my iPhone: my T.V, my lights, or my thermostat? With Nam’s Remote, I don’t get to do any of these things, but I do get access to a few interesting features.
Overview
Nam’s Remote was pretty easy to set up. You will need to download a separate application for the computer that you intend to control. After adjusting the settings on this app, you then need to establish a connection to your iPhone/iPod. This involves knowing the IP address, but the program helps you find it with ease. Once connected, you then have access to a wide range of functions ranging from using your iPhone as a trackpad (my personal favorite) to using it as a keyboard or controlling other programs on your computer such as PowerPoint and Windows Media Player. BrainFreeze is a challenging puzzle game. The object of the game is to get each of the two cubes that are the same color to touch one another. I know, it sounds like your typical puzzle game but, this one is unique. When you tilt your iPhone or iPod Touch (or touch the screen…depending on which setting you have on)…all the blocks move in that direction. At first, the levels are pretty easy to get you used to the concept of the game. However, as the levels go on, they introduce different “challenges” into the game play such as fences, arrows, blocks, lock areas and pits. I have been looking for a good Birthday reminder application for a while now…before firmware 2.x I had a Birthday reminder application that I used titlediBirthday. However, the app was not updated for the 2.x firmware and I still haven’t found an app that I like. Well today, I received an email about Birthday Reminder. It not only lists all your upcoming Birthdays but, it also allows you to receive an email reminder about them.
When you open the app, you will see a list of all your contact’s Birthdays. For each contact in the list, it displays the person’s name, the month and day of their Birthday, how old they will be and how many months it is until their next Birthday. If you select one of the contacts on the list, not only are you are given a little more information about them but, you can also open the contact in AddressBook and edit contact information right in the Birthday Reminder Application! TiltShift is an application that allows you stimulate miniatures. “This application simulates a tilt-shift lens that tricks your mind into viewing a photo as a miniature scene like a model railroad for example.” However, it can be used for much more than just simulating miniatures…it allows you to blur parts of your photo giving you the ability to create some depth of field. You do not need to be an expert in photography, or even know what any of the above means, in order to enjoy this application. Trust me, I’m not extremely knowledgeable when it comes to photography terms and what not but, I like that I am able to bring one part of my photo into focus while leaving the rest blurred. It has been a while since I have wrote a new QuickTip so, I thought I better get back to it!
QuickTip – Have you ever opened an application or been using an application only to have it completely lockup? In these instances, you can do a hard restart of your iPhone or iPod Touch. To do so, just hold the lock button (that is the button at the top of your device) and the home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo on a black background (you usually have to hold the buttons for around 10 seconds before this happens). You can then release the buttons and your iPhone/iPod Touch will restart.
