Tap Memory – Test And Expand Your Memory Abilities

Available In: App Store       Price: $1.99

Tap Memory Tap Memory is a game that will “test and expand your memory abilities.” The object of the game is to remember the numbers that were displayed on the screen and then tap the them in the correct order…as quickly as possible!

When the app opens, you get a main menu with four options; New Game, Resume Game, Multiplayer and High Scores. If you select New Game, you are then given three difficulty level options; Easy, Medium and Hard. Once you select a difficulty level, you will get the a screen displaying which level you are on and which wave with-in that level. Each level has five waves. When you begin, there will be circles with numbers in them. You must then quickly “memorize” all the numbers. Once the numbers disappear, you then tap the circles in order starting with the circle that contained the lowest number and ending with the circle that contained the highest number. The game starts off easy with just three numbers and a slow disappear rate however, each wave gets a little faster with-in the levels and each level adds another number! You also get more points the faster you tap the circles. It quickly becomes difficult!

As you play, your running score is located in the upper left corner and your level/wave is located in the upper right corner. The little arrow icon in the lower right corner will bring you back to the main menu. Once you “lose” you will be given a pop-up in which you can enter your name and then choose whether or not you would like to save your score.

Back on the main menu, the Resume option allows you to resume a game you have already started. If you close and reopen the app, your current game is saved…which is nice! The Multiplayer option allows two players to play at the same time. You have the ability to chose the number of levels you would like to play in mulitplayer mode and the difficulty level. Basically, you just switch back and forth playing each level/wave. The High Scores option allows you to view all your local high scores for each difficulty level and the global high scores. If you select the Global option, you will be brought to an outside web browser where you can view the top 100 scores. You an also view the game instructions by selected the “i” icon on the lower right corner on the main menu.

The only suggestion I have for the game at it’s current state is that it would be nice to not have to start over each time you lose. It can get a little annoying going all the way back to the first levels when you lost on level four! So, the ability to start back up where you left off would be nice.

Tap Memory is nicely design, addictive and fun. As the game progressed, I found that it got very challenging and my brain really started to work! I personally like these type of games however, I could see how this one might get a little boring after a while. It was fun to continue to try and beat my previous score but, I kept waiting for something different or new to happen and it never did. I think the $1.99 price tag might be a bit high…I would put it more around the $0.99 mark. Now, if they added a few things to spice up the game…then I might put it back up to $1.99. Though, if you are like me and enjoy these types of games, it is worth taking a look at.
