IFDark No Logo – iNav WinterBoard Theme

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

winterBoard ifdarknologo4 IFDark No Logo is an iNav inspired theme, actually it is basically like a skin to the original iNav theme. It is definitely one of the easier iNav themes to set up. To do so, you will want to have all your application in an Apps and Games folder except the following; Phone, SMS, Email, Safari, iPod, Camera, Photo, Games and Apps.

You will want one icon on each page of your SpringBoard (in the same order they are listed in above). The icons need to be in the third row, the third icon in (see screenshots below). Once you have all nine icons arranged correctly, you can go into WinterBoard and activate the theme. [Read more…]

SBSettings Update – New Features and Bug Fixes

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

SBSettings It seems that BigBoss has been working hard because today we get another update to SBSettings. This update adds a few new features, some tweaks and some bug fixes. A few of the new features include the ability to change the date separator to either / or . and the ability to change the time to a 24 hour time. I also like that a little hand icon was added to the toggles in which you can hold down to activate the hold feature (though, the actual hold feature is not available on 2.x firmware). Below is the complete change log for version 2.99-2. [Read more…]

Star Defense – More Video Demos

Available In: App Store       Price: Coming Soon

Star Defense In my original review of Star Defense, we had been informed that the game would be released in the month of May. Since then, we have seen a few more demo videos and the projected May released date has been removed from any info. However, ngmoco (the developers of Star Defense), have a Press Event coming up on June 8th for Star Defense along with a few of there other apps (fast-paced shooter Death Match: Live Fire, the charming pet simulator Touch Pets: Dogs and the epic Rolando 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid).

Whether we actually see the apps released that day or not…I’m not sure but, it has got to mean that we are getting close. Below are a couple more demo videos then have released in the past few days [Read more…]

Photos of 3rd Generation iPhone

Appleumpcfever.com has posted a bunch of pictures (most blurry) of the new iPhone. They confirm a few things that we already have heard as rumors like the compass, video recording, auto focus, battery percentage, and the ability to send video in MMS. The link I’ve posted above is the translated version into English, originally in Chinese. So here’s the pics: [Read more…]

Jailbreak Firmware 3.0 Beta 5

QuickPWNI’m really hoping that the new firmware is released in just a few days at the WWDC event. Until then, I’m going to jailbreak my iPhone again. I’m currently on the newest firmware, 3.0 Beta 5. QuickPWN is able to jailbreak it so, here we go: [Read more…]

1*1 SpringBoard – No Web Clips Needed.

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

1*1 SpringBoard 1*1 SpringBoard is a mod that, when installed, automatically puts one icon in the middle of each page of your SpringBoard without the use of blank icons or web clips. There are a few things you should know before installing this application.

1*1 SpringBoard is not activated via WinterBoard, it is a mobile substrate application which means there is no icon for it, it just runs in the background. Which also means, you will want to prepare your iPhone BEFORE you install this application.

If you are familiar with iNav themes, then you will understand what I am about to tell you on how to prepare your iPhone. If you need more info about how to set up your iPhone or iPod Touch for a iNav theme…please check out THIS review.

You will want to have all your apps/games in an Apps and Games folder created using Categories that way you can have only the nine icons you would like on your SpringBoard. [Read more…]

The Sims 3 for the iPhone and iPod Touch

Available In: App Store       Price: Coming Soon

The Sims 3 I know all you Sims fans out there are waiting for the release of Sims 3. Well, it seems that they are going to be releasing it for the iPhone and iPod Touch as well. According to the demo videos below…it will hit the App Store on June 2nd! Just a few more days! No info on how much it will cost but I think it is safe to say that, based on Sim City and the depth of the game, it will be in the $9.99 range. Probably totally worth it.

Below are a few demo videos and screenshots of the app. [Read more…]

WinterBoard Settings Update – Hide WinterBoard Icon

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WinterBoard Settings There was recently an update to WinterBoard Settings. I actually have not done a review for two updates now so, I will talk about both the 0.3.0 update and the 0.4.0 update.

The 0.3.0 update adds an “Enabled” button to WinterBoard Settings. This button actually enables/disables the any mods/themes/hacks that are installed for WinterBoard. It basically turns WinterBoard on and off. So, if you have Enabled turned off, if you make changes in either the WinterBoard application or WinterBoard Settings, they will not display.

FYI: Enabled is automatically turned off when updated/installed which totally had me confused because my WinterBoard application was not working and I thought I broke something…then I remembered the update to WinterBoard Settings. [Read more…]

SBSettings Update – Significant Update…Lots of New/Improved Features

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

SBSettings SBSettings recently had an update to version 2.99. The update bring some significant changes to the application.

Some of the changes that I really like are:
    • The ability to move the toggle order. This allows you to move the toggles you use most often to the top of SBSettings.
    • The ability to enable/disable mobile substrate applications (those are apps that run in the background and do not have icons). That way you can turn them off without uninstalling them.
    • The addition to the Extras and Options.

In the Extras and Options, I really like the ability to turn off/on the numeric wifi, numeric GSM (ph one strength) and numeric battery. I also like the ability to add the date to the status bar and they ability to enable/disable SBSettings on the lock screen and during a call. I am constantly trying to launch SBSettings from my lock screen only to remember that I cant! Now I can! YAY! [Read more…]

Custom HomeButton – Choose a Home Button Double-Tap

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Custom HomeButton Custom HomeButton, is an application that allows you to choose your Home Button double-tap. I have actually been waiting for an application like this. On the 1.1.x firmware, I used an application called iPhoneHome. It was not updated for the 2.x firmware. However, Custom HomeButton actually gives me a little more functionality than iPhoneHome did.

Once installed, you can get to the Custom HomeButton settings via your stock Settings application. In the settings, you have the option to enable/disable the app and choose what you would like your Home Button double-tap to be. You can choose from the stock apps, App Store applications, Cydia applications, a list of websites or set a custom app/website. [Read more…]

Gmail

If you’re like me, you use the iPhone’s Mail app all the time. But if you use Gmail you should take a look at gmail.com using Safari. There’s been a lot of updates recently and Google is using HTML5 which makes the app really sweet. The video below shows you some of the features and how they look while in use.

Firmware 3.0 Preview: Maps

MapsSo far, there are no changes to the Maps application for the iPhone. There are some other features that include maps that are new to the 3.0 Firmware though. First, developers can now integrate Google Maps into their application. This is part of the new developer APIs in the 3.0 Software Developer Kit. This should help with some sweet weather or real estate apps.

Tweetie

Available In: App Store       Price: $2.99

TweetieFor me, this is the best Twitter client for the iPhone. I know people really like others, like Twitterrrific, but I still vote for Tweetie. You can easily set up and access mulitiple Twitter account. There are three different themes to the layout and design of the app, which is huge for me because I like the dark theme. You can easily access your main stream, @replies, direct messages and favorites from the main screen. The more tab, of course, has even more features like access to your own profile, go to user, nearby, trends, search and you can save your searches. You can post pictures or your location in tweets. Under a users profile you can reply, direct message, follow, stop following, see recent tweets, see recent replies to that user, see who they are following and who’s following them, and block or unblock. The best feature of all for me is the ability to customize the app like changing the theme, and the way your retweets look. [Read more…]
