SBSettings Update – Significant Update…Lots of New/Improved Features

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

SBSettings SBSettings recently had an update to version 2.99. The update bring some significant changes to the application.

Some of the changes that I really like are:
    • The ability to move the toggle order. This allows you to move the toggles you use most often to the top of SBSettings.
    • The ability to enable/disable mobile substrate applications (those are apps that run in the background and do not have icons). That way you can turn them off without uninstalling them.
    • The addition to the Extras and Options.

In the Extras and Options, I really like the ability to turn off/on the numeric wifi, numeric GSM (ph one strength) and numeric battery. I also like the ability to add the date to the status bar and they ability to enable/disable SBSettings on the lock screen and during a call. I am constantly trying to launch SBSettings from my lock screen only to remember that I cant! Now I can! YAY!

BigBoss is actually revamping BBSettings to work with the 3.x firmware. Those of you who are on 3.x firmware have a few more updates than those of us on the 2.x firmware. Below are the change logs based on which firmware you are running.

Changes for 2.x firmware:
    • Added ability to move toggle order around.
    • More app: Added mobile substrate extensions manager. You can now troubleshoot a poorly performing device by disabling and enabling various installed mobile substrate extensions. (Requires respring after toggling).
    • More app: Added numeric wifi, numeric GMS (phone) to extras menu. (Note: the 3.0 version of numeric battery looks different. Remember this is just enabled by SBSettings. It’s a feature of springboard).
    • More app: Added statusbar date toggle button in extras menu to enable or disable statusbar date.
    • Revved version to 3.0 since this version works with iPhone OS 3.0. It should work with 2.0-3.0.
    • Reworked how root requiring toggles work. As such, we can now system out to processes as root. This enables Safari download and other toggles! (Expect them soon).
•You can now select from several options to customize the behaviors of SBSettings:
        • Enable or disable the U/I from lock screen
        • Enable or disable the U/I during calls (for those of you that kept having the U/I activate on your cheek).
        • Enable or disable the date in status bar.
        • Enable or disable the memory free in status bar.
        • Enable or disable numeric battery, wifi, or GSM (phone strength).
    • Revamped the U/I on the more – extras screen.
    • Internally, I have made the toggles SDK more extensible enabling direct access to system() calls within the toggles. I expect another small flood of new toggles like safari download, samba, or syslog toggles. These tasks were impossibly difficult on 1.x sbsettings and are now trivially simple.
    • DYLIB: Massively reworked SSH and EDGE toggles. Solved the low memory freeze ups previously seen when hitting refresh or trying to toggle EDGE or SSH. This was a major issue on current versions of SBSettings. It seems totally solved.
    • DYLIB: Massively reworked WiFi toggle since it didn’t work on 3.0. It toggles very quickly now.
    • DYLIB: Massively reworked phone toggle (airplane) since it didn’t work on 3.0. Phone toggle is also instant.

Changes for 3.x firmware (these are in addition to the changes for the 2.x firmware):
    • You can now have more than 12 toggles. (On the 3.0 OS). When you have > 12 toggles it will let you scroll like categories app or such.
    • DYLIB: Modified for all the changes required to work on 3.0 (with proper patched jailbreak, not working with public jailbreak on 3.0).
    • DYLIB: Added a single tap status bar to close the SBSettings window in 3.0 only. This is because home button brings up the search and there was some interference (enough that I felt annoyed). So you can swipe to open the window, tap to close.

tried to turn of wifi to see if it worked. now in safe mode. is that a bug? or is there someting causing that?

  2. iLove my iPhone says

under mobile substrate i see 4 apps ive installed in cydia and one i dont remember installing called PreferenceLoader. anyone know what that is?

  3. Thanks for the Info.Much Appreciated

  4. SBSettings does not run dock app from the lock screen IF you have set up password, nor request password. In my opinion this is very correct, but an improvement on asking the password should solve this issue.
Over all, nice update. Thanks a lot for the community!

  5. takes more ram up, from 41mb (ver1.1) to 35mb(ver2.99)

  6. SBSettings. What do the numbers mean for numeric gsm? I thought they were percentage but sometimes I have 130 so that doesn’t make sense. Anybody know?

    Thanks,

    David
