New iPhone 3GS Commercials

iPhone 3GS Commericals We knew it was only a matter of time before Apple released some iPhone 3GS commercials. Below are two new commercials. The first commercial shows off the new Copy and Paste Feature and the second show off the new Voice Control feature. What is weird is that copy and paste is a 3.0 firmware features and not specific to the iPhone 3GS. What is also weird is that that commercials say, “This is the new iPhone” not “This is the new iPhone 3GS.” And, once again, they have changed the theme song! *tear. I always get a little sad when they change the theme song (they have changed it with each release of a new iPhone…so, three times). The new theme song is “If I Had Eyes” by Jack Johnson. Email Multiple Images – 3.0 Firmware

Email Multiple Images One cool new feature of the 3.0 firmware is the ability to send more than one photo or screenshot (or any image that is on your iPhone or iPod Touch) at a time via email. The guide will show you how to quickly use Apple’s built in feature that allows you to email up to five image and how to email more then five images. This is a feature I LOVE and use all the time so, I thought I would make sure everyone knows how to use it! Below are step-by-step instructions.

Simplicity – WinterBoard Theme

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

##ICON_NAME## simplicitytheme2 Simplicity is an icon set that contains 27 of the basic icons. The theme does not contain anything but icons so, you are able to customize the rest of it yourself. There are two downfalls with this theme; it does not contain an icon for the Stocks app and it is designed for the 3.0 firmware. So, if you are on 2.x or below, the Text icon will also not display. If you are comfortable with ssh, you can ssh into the Library/Themes/Simplicity.theme/Icon folder and change Messages to Text…then it will display correctly. You can get Simplicity via the modmyi source.

WeatherIcon Updates – Status Bar Improvements

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WeatherIcon The WeatherIcon mod has had quite a few updates going from version 2.1.4 to 2.1.9 (below are all the change logs). I found that the updates have the mod working very nicely….even in conjunction with the Status Bar date mod via SBSettings. Let us know in the comments if you are still having issues with this mod. Apple’s iPhone Optimized User Guide

Apple's User Guide If you are looking for a way to learn a little bit more about your iPhone or maybe have a question about how a specific feature works…you might want to check out Apple’s iPhone User Guide. It is a nicely iPhone optimized user guide with a ton of info. The User Guide’s web address is http://help.apple.com/iphone. You have to be on an iPhone or iPod Touch for the Guide to display correctly. [Read more…]

Some Wiggle, Some Don’t

##ICON_NAME## Doug recently found a bug in which some of his icons wiggle and some of them don’t while in “wiggle” mode after installing an app. Below is a video demo. Yes, it’s backwards…don’t ask!

Enable Battery Percentage on iPhone 3GS without Jailbreaking

##ICON_NAME## One of my favorite mods on my jailbreak iPhone is that I can display the exact battery percentage of my battery on the status bar. Well, Apple has made this feature available on the iPhone 3GS. To enable the Status Bar percentage just go into your stock Settings application, then the General option, then the Usage option. In the Usage option, you will find the Battery Percentage feature…just turn it on. [Read more…]

Change the Theme on an iPhone 3GS without Jailbreaking

settings I know some of you are bummed that you can’t jailbreak your iPhone 3GS. Well, if you are craving a new theme, you’re in luck…Apple gave you an option. You can invert your iPhone so that it is white on black instead of black on white. Apple says it is for people who have difficulty seeing black on white or to make it easier to see at night. I say, they are secretly coming over to the dark side! If you would like to change your iPhone’s theme so that it is White on Black just head over to your stock Settings application, the General Option, the Accessibility option and you will see a White on Black feature….just turn that guy On. TweetMic – Send Audio Tweets

Available In: App Store       Price: $0.99

TweetMic We recently did a review of FaceMic, an application that allows you to record audio and then send it straight to your Facebook page (posting it on your “wall”). Well TweetMic is the same concept only via Twitter. It allows you to record audio and then send it as a tweet. Very cool.

TweetMic functions basically the same as FaceMic. When you first open it, you will need to go to the Setup option where you will enter your Twitter info. You can also change the default phrase under the Setup option. [Read more…]

WeatherIcon Update

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WeatherIcon It seems we have another update to the WeatherIcon mod. Once again, I had no problem with the update on an iPhone running 2.2. The mod also seems to be working a little better with the 3.0 firmware. The Status Bar part of the mod is looking much better and it now visible instead of being too high and getting cut off. I did notice that the Status Bar mod does not work correctly if you are adding the date to your Status Bar using SBettings. It did take a few resprings and disabling/enabling to get it to work correctly (Status Bar) but, that could have to do some of my mods and not the actual WeatherIcon app. [Read more…]

Info on the iPhone 3GS Jailbreak via the Dev-Team

devteam If you haven’t already heard, the Dev-Team has released some info about the iPhone 3GS jailbreak. It seems that it is “possible” but not likely to happen any time soon. Below is what the Dev-Team has to say: [Read more…]

CardSnap – Converts Photo to Contact Info

Available In: App Store       Price: $9.99

CardSnap I’m not a huge business card user. In fact, I carry a few of them mostly so I can throw them into a fishbowl in order to win a free lunch at a restaurant. However, I can imagine how useful it would be to have an application that would take business cards and effortlessly import their information into your contacts list. CardSnap attempts to address this by using a proprietary method similar to OCR but not really (or so says the app’s description).

Upon opening (and waiting for) CardSnap, you are given the option to use the camera to snap a picture of the business card. You can also load photos from your camera roll or from your photo library. However, since the main selling point is to use this application in real time, I wanted to focus on the camera option. After taking a picture, you can move and scale your picture before deciding to upload to the servers at CardSnap. Once you’re satisfied with your business card’s readability (this may take some time with the iPhone’s pitiful camera), you submit the card, and wait for a response. Other options in the application include a menu to review your submitted cards, an info screen that offers a user’s guide, and a settings screen that allows you to use groups with your contacts. Metallic Glass Theme – WinterBoard Theme

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WinterBoard metallicblacktheme3 Metallic Glass Theme is a theme with transparent icons. Many of you know that I am always on the look-out for a new style of transparent icons (because you can change the wallpaper and feel like you have a whole new theme!). This theme contains a wallpaper, dock, sliders, 58 icons, loading screens, custom UI….etc.

I do have a few problems with this theme. The Message application doesn’t have an icon. There is an icon for SwirlyMMS so, you can always change it to your Message icon using ssh. And it doesn’t seem like the theme has the correct dock but, you can always use the transparent dock and it looks fine. You can get Metallic Glass Theme via the BigBoss source [Read more…]

SlideRules – Puzzle Game

Available In: App Store       Price: $1.99

SlideRules Growing up, I used to love those little number puzzles that you’d get in “goody-bags” where you would try to position little plastic number pieces in the correct order on a plastic square. When I received the application SlideRules by AntHill Games, I initially thought that this game would be similar to those nostalgic games. After playing with the app, I learned that SlideRules actually offered more than just a one time opportunity to have fun. [Read more…]

Friday Night Movie Night: AT&T Navigator

Available In: App Store       Price: $9.99 per month

YouTubeSince I’m not going to spend the $9.99 a month to have this feature, here’s a video I found on YouTube. I’m holding out for TomTom’s app and hoping that there’s no monthly subscription.
