1 Million 3GS iPhones Sold

iPhone 3GS Ok, many of you have probably already heard about this but, in just three days (from Friday to Sunday) Apple sold over a million 3GS iPhones. So much for the thought that the new features were not cool enough for people to upgrade! It would be interesting to know how many of the 1 million are new iPhone customers and how many are upgrades.

Apple also said that in the first five days of the 3.0 firmware release, over 6 million people have download it! I think out of all the firmware updates, more people have upgraded to 3.0 than any other firmware. Let us know in the comments if you didn’t upgrade to the 3.0 firmware and why you didn’t!

“Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.”

  1. Stevey101 says

Wait… “Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO.” … Is he back?

  2. Yeah I would like to know how many are new iPhone owners. I for one have not upgraded due to swirly not being ported yet. I knew that it would be slow going as it was a year ago when 2.0 came out.

  3. I really find it hard to believe that that many people have upgraded. I really dont see the 3gs as something you gotta have.. especially if you already have an iphone 3g. I can see how it would be if you have the first gen iphone.

  4. I upgraded to the 3Gs and I also kept my 3G with 3.0 jailbroke. I don’t plan on selling my 3G anytime soon.

  5. cant wait for it to be in Malaysia!

  6. 1.0 million in US only? No I don’t think so.

It must be total global sales.

I have not upgraded because Redsn0w is too buggy.
