ViDICTO+ Mytrip: “Learn” a new language through pictures, voice, words, and phrases.

Available In: App Store       Price: $1.99

ViDicto+ “Pronto? Buongiorno. Arrivederci!” This was a typical conversation between my wife and me during the weeks leading up to our honeymoon trip to Italy. Neither of us had any experience speaking Italian, so we downloaded a few podcasts and began practicing as much as we could. I also downloaded a free app that used Google’s translation dictionary to fill in during emergencies. What I really wish we had had was something more visual, something that could help us with pronunciation, and something that could be quicker and less cumbersome than a big dictionary. [Read more…]

Odessa, Ukraine – July 28, 2009 – Today Readdle announces the upcoming launch of Cannons, a pirate-themed puzzle game, on the Apple App Store. Cannons utilizes a classic puzzle genre with addictive story driven gameplay, three action packed game modes, an innovative ship upgrade system and worldwide scoreboard.

Cannons is a story about vicious pirates, great sea battles and enormous treasures. Players take command on the ship to fight enemy captains and fortresses in a quest to obtain the gold. The battle is based on linking tiles with fuses to a burning torch thus firing on-board cannons. By firing multiple cannons at once players can earn coins that can be used to upgrade the ship’s weaponry.

The game challenges players by increasing the number of shots required to win each fight as the storyline progresses. Additionally, there are three separate battle modes: the Classic Battle Mode which limits the time allotted to defeat the enemy, the Strategic Battle Mode which provides only a fixed number of torches per fight, and the Arcade Battle Mode which requires players to complete the level before new tiles fill up the screen.

“Stunning graphics, a compelling storyline, three distinct game modes, and an online scoreboard system—all essential ingredients of a really good iPhone game; however, only precisely-tuned controls and gameplay as addictive as Cannons can elevate a good game to this level of greatness. There are few truly original puzzles on the App Store that can keep people entertained for hours and there is no doubt that Cannons is certainly one of them,” – said Alexander Tyagulsky, Readdle CMO.

Pricing and Availability:

Cannons will be available on the App Store at the beginning of August at the price of USD $2.99. More information about the game can be found at Readdle’s web site (www.readdle.com)

Dock (an application launching utility) on 3.0 Firmware

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Dock It has been a long time (and when I say long time… I’m talking like August 19th of 2008 long time) since I have done a review of Dock, an application that allows you to launch other applications. Honestly, I didn’t even know if it was working on the 3.0 firmware so I decided to give it a shot and, apparently it does work on 3.0. I do think however, that this app has been through more transformations than any other app!

To use Dock, you just drag your finger up from the bottom right corner (or left… depending on your settings) to the middle of your iPhone or iPod Touch’s screen. This will bring up a list of applications. You can then drag your finger up and down to scroll through the applications. Once you are on the app that you would like to launch, just let go and it will launch. You can choose the applications you would like in each Dock via the apps settings. [Read more…]

iNaise – WinterBoard Theme

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

iNaise inaisetheme3 iNaise is a WinterBoard theme that contains a dock, 3 wallpapers, badges and 37 icons. The thing I like about this theme is that the icons aren’t so styled that you cant use the WeatherIcon mod, you can still have the WeatherIcon mod activated and the theme will look decent. One catch, if you are on the 3.0 firmware, you will need to shh into the Library/Themes/Inaise/Icons folder and change Text.png to Messages.png. You can get iNaise via the MacCiti source. Friday Night Movie Night: Removing iPhone 3GS Passcode and Encryption

YouTubeI’m not putting this video out there for you to learn how to hack into iPhones. I’m doing it so you can see how weak Apple’s security on the iPhone is. Hopefully you will be a little more careful about what you put on your device :)

Friday Night Movie Night: BaDaBoo

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

YouTubeThis game is addicting. It’s really simple, you just swipe your ball and hit the other balls to make them change color to the same as your ball. Of course the best part is, it’s free.

Friday Night Movie Night: WiTricity: Wireless Charging

PowerThis video isn’t specific to the iPhone but I thought I’d share it just to show the possibilities of the future. It’s originally from BBC. It talks about wireless charging devices, and I’m not talking close contact like the Palm Pre, this is actually wireless.
