  1. its not working for me, tried like 10 times keep giving me message try again. Tried from both end since me n my wife both have 3gs and i m running 3.0.1 fw and my wife has 3.1fw. But i did update with the latest i.e 5.5 carrier file which can be seen under about in setting.I don’t know whats the deal about at&T sucker.

  2. 3.1 is necessary?!? Good thing mine has already been working on jailbroken and unlocked 3.0.1!

  3. Worked perfectly fine for me. iPhone 3G 3.0.1 jailbroken. First picture I sent took about 20 seconds and the other person said they got it.

  4. Works for me.

  5. I don’t get the update. Is it because I’m running 3.0.1?

  6. ANyone have the new ATT_US.ipcc file?
    On the mac it’s in:
The update adds a 37k file (at least on the Mac), named: ‘ATT_US.ipcc’ file to your /Users/[Username]/Library/iTunes/iPhone Carrier Support/ folder if on a Mac.

I ain’t updating mine to 3.1 to get this :)

  7. I’ve been trying all day in iTunes and mine won’t see the carrier update either. I’m on 3.0 (7A341) jailbroken.

  8. Wait they are forcing an upgrade to 3.1 in order to activate MMS??? Wow I’m happy I’m jailbroken. I’ve been using MMS for a couple of weeks now. Today I switched my plan back to the iPhone Messaging Plan and all is still working well.

However it seems that tmobile ppl are not getting my picture sends. But if they go into their account they see the pics. Weird…

  9. I got it to work on my Iphone with 3.0.1. I figured that the method previously introduced here would work since AT&T has most likely removed all the opt-out codes from the phones. Just follow the instructions on the link below and you should be good.

    http://www.appleiphoneschool.com/2009/09/12/how-to-enable-mms-picture-messaging-on-your-iphone/

This method had not worked for me before today.

  10. http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/CarrierBundles/061-7282.20090925.3Sph5/ATT_US.ipcc

Heres the link to the 5.5 carrier file. works fine on 3.0.1. no need to upgrade to 3.1 :D

  11. AT&T sucks. I have an iPhone 3G but with an iPhone 2G data plan. I have the latest update ipcc file and I still can’t MMS. It’s sad how they chose money over customer satisfaction.

  12. Mine started working yesterday around noon. Had the carrier file already installed; just a matter of waiting till they took the block of my account. Glad I’m jailbroken because I will not ever go to 3.1 until it can be broken. I love my Cydia and themes…

  13. I agree. I will stay on 3.0. Everything is working on my jailbroken 3GS 32G MMS, tethering. I won’t dare upgrade. My iPhone is running without problems. Unless the next upgrades allow me to choose themes. I will run 3.0..forever. Although, my Foto Timer app won’t let me install it on 3.0 any more. :-(

  14. Worked for me!!

  15. yeah after the update ,rebooting, resetting network settings, it still doesnt work for me :(

  16. I got the anwser says

MMS is hit or miss, works sometimes! AT&T should have released it on Monday and told is to expect problems, then have apple help them work out the problems all week..
    What u guys think?

  17. Hey I have previously used the method you guys provided for enabling MMS earlier before the approved MMS came out, and i have a 3GS on 3.0.1 and i followed exactly what you said, and it worked,………

However I can only text message pictures, not videos? Anybody else have this problem? Or any ideas to fixing it?

    • No problems but can’t send videos more than 4 seconds. Useless.

    • I sent a test video to my own cell number and it was definitely longer than 4 seconds. Made the video myself from the camera option…

    • I also sent one that was 15 sec long. MMS working great since one week ago on 3gs running 3.0 and jailbroken ; P My pic mssgs are taking about 20 sec to be sent

    • I tested it again and I can now send videos, however the longest one I could send was about 1:10 ………..better than nothing i suppose

  18. what r the mms settings for att

  19. Awesome! It’s so awesome finally having this. I now see what I am missing.

  20. Screw AT&T they suck….

  21. Works great 4 me didn’t have 2 upgrade 2 3.1 version either and still have all my stuff

  22. finally they release it and then NICKLE and DIME us to send pic/vid msgs. Its not enought that we are forced into buying unlimited data plan which is limited in every way!

  23. mine sucks, got two iphone 3gs one with 3.1 not jailbroken and other 3.0.1 jailbraked with 5.5 at&t carrier file on both. Now i can’t even text . I text from both side it shows send but we don’t receive. By the way 1 phone belongs to my wife . I dont know whats up with that.

    • Both phones need to be updated to 3.1 to be able to properly pic msg. Also make sure you check for an update in itunes to get the upgraded carrier settings. I have a 3g phone with 3.1 jailbroken only because i found a 3.1 jailbroken ipsw file cause i don’t have a mac. after updating both, restart them and let them sit for about 10 minutes and then they should both work.

  24. Does anyone knows how to access the map location sharing using the MMS?

    • tap the pin hit the arrow to expand into location at the bottom tap share location select mms n viola

    • Nice, finally the missing feature to finalize my MMS experience…Thanks a whole bunch, the funny thing is that none of the apple support personnel knows how to do this. They said this option are not available LOL!

Thanks again, really appreciate the quick response.

  25. I have the original 2G data plan with an iPhone 3G I brought off the streets a while back. When you call AT&T to get MMS resolved, did they flip the switch on MMS or changed your data plan to 3G? My contract is over for I was one of the early adopters back in ’07 and I’m not trying to sign another 2 year. Hopefully there’s a way around this without being raped. If anybody found a solution, please inform me. Thanks.

  26. somehow….accidentally rather, I got MMS, Tethering and Visual Voicemail to all work in harmony on 3.01 JB…..still don’t know what I did and I can’t replicate it on my friends phone. It must have something to do with the way I jailbroke it on 3.0?

  27. Can anyone here explain how and why is it possible to enable MMS on a 2G iPhone when AT&T advise that it would never work regardless?

I was actually just messing around and trying to see if the phone would actually work if I update its ipcc file to 5.0 under iTunes and when I did that I inserted my sim card which runs on my 3GS. After rebooting the phone and resetting the network, I began sending mms messages and have my friends to do the same and for some odd reason it worked.

So I decided to use a different sim card which ran on my motorola razr and added the data plan for mms capabilities. AT&T advise me that if the line reads that I’m using an iPhone and not the Razr that my mms will stop working….curious that I am, I used the iPhone anyways after I establish in the system that I have the Razr. After doin this the mms still works even as we speak, I actually verified that my device showing on my plan is now an iPhone and not the Razr. Despite of that information my plan stayed the same just like when I have the Razr and not the iPhone data plan.

Any feedback on this are gladly appreciated, Thanks!

    • …FYI My device is an iPhone 2G running on a 3.0 OS and Jailbroken.

    • Hey Rome,

Glad it works for you,but keep your eye out when they change or if you get a text or e-mail,they have the right to change your data plan regardless. I use two phones and no iphone account, but i have been using my iphone regardless,so they actually contacted me with a date ending about contacting them,so keep a eye out.

    • Will definitely look out for that but what I don’t understand is that the MMS actually works on an iPhone 2G when AT&T insisted that it will only work on the 3G or 3GS iPhone. FYI, MMS still up and running on my iPhone 2G with unlimited data plan for a motorola razr.

  28. wow my mms was working fine for a while .. but today it stopped . .i can still receive pics but everytime i try and send a pic it doesnt allow me to

  29. after updated the mms my voice mail not working ? anyboudy have this problem ?

  30. Can anyone explain how to SSH the carrier file onto the phone? My iTunes isn’t prompting for the carrier file update.

    • Can anyone explain WHERE to SSH the carrier bundle to on the phone, I know how to SSH, just not where to put the file.
