Chromiphone is a WinterBoard theme that contains 91 icons, a wallpaper, dock, status bar, page dots and badges. For some reason this theme seems familiar to me but, I see a lot of themes and sometimes they blur together! You can get Chromiphone via the modmyi source.
How to Install a Theme:
1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the modmyi source installed in Cydia.
3. Search for Chromiphone in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the Chromiphone Theme.

Categories Update – Back-End Changes

Categories, an application that allows you to organize the applications on your SpringBoard into folders, has been updated to version 2.8. The update makes quite a few back-end changes to the app. Check out the complete change log below.
Note: We did have an issue updating Categories on one of our test iPhones. It took all the apps out of the folders and made the folders unable to be deleted. However, I updated Categories on my personal iPhone and I had no issues at all… it kept the folders and all the apps inside them.

SnapTap – Use Volume Button as Camera Button

I can’t really show you any screenshots of this app, but it’s an awesome hack that’s worth the $0.99. What it does is make your volume buttons become your camera button when the camera app is open. That way when taking pictures you can hold it like a normal camera. It also makes self portraits much easier! It not only works for the camera but to activate the video camera and stop it. Lastly, it works in all apps where the camera feature is used. I tested it in a few apps like Facebook. Again, I recommend this app, awesome!
Twitter Plugin for LockInfo

A couple updates to the plugin for LockInfo that displays Twitter on your lockscreen have come out recently. Last night the update added the users avatar and it looked great! Unfortunately it was making the hack pretty glitchy when I would scroll up and down so I had to hide it. I emailed the developer, David Ashman, and he told me he’d get an update out soon to fix it and he sure did! This morning there is another update that fixed the glitching. Now it scrolls nice and smooth and I can see the avatars of my tweeps. Thanks David!

Black Friday iPhone App Sale

Ping! which used to be free and then recently raised their price to $0.99 is now free again for Black Friday. Ping is an instant messeger app with push notifications. You can only talk from Ping! to Ping! app but if you’re looking to save on text messaging this is a great app. A recently new feature is the ability to send picture. Honestly, even with the sale price, I still think the TomTom app is way over priced, but if you’ve been waiting for it to go on sale and $69.99 is a good deal to you, then today’s your day. Apple has a lot on sale today but one product that’s one of the better deals for the iPhone is the mophie Juice Pack Air for the iPhone 3G and 3GS. We recently received one for testing and will be doing a review in the future. If you’re interested a case with battery power, I do recommend this one. It’s much sleeker than the previous version and at Apple.com you can get it in an exclusive color, Red, for $58. Regular price is $79.95 so you save $21.95.
Apple Discounts Confirmed for Black Friday

At the time of writing this article, Apple has still not posted special pricing in the US store but they have in the UK. Here’s a few screenshots of the sales. Apple may wait until the entire US is in Friday before changing their site. In the UK, discounts are small but include iMacs, Macbook Pros, iPod Nanos, the iPod touch, Apple TVs and a whole bunch of accessories.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving from everyone here at AppleiPhoneSchool.com! We hope you get to spend the day relaxing and spending time with your family (and maybe watching a little football!). Doug and I traveled all last night with the boys to spend Thanksgiving with our families today. We totally used our iPhones to stay entertained during the drive! Doug used GPSTracker to embed our current location on his facebook and our personal website as we drove (and insisted on showing it to me every hour or so!) :) He did have to use Backgrounder to keep it running in the background.
P.S. Any old school jailbreaks remember what application the icon I used for this post is from?? :)
