i think the only way a company could beat iphone is to out do the iphone by a mile. that’s what apple did and that’s why the iphone holds the title. droid can’t just make something to match it. they need to smash it into the ground. maybe if the droid got a flash play or some how where to get 4g service, something like that would help beat the iphones title. something that the iphone can’t compete with until the future. the iphone has set the standerd for all phones across the world. good luck beating it. until then i’m sticking with the iphone

I owned the Droid Eris for 24 hours and returned it today. It’s complicated, the user’s manual is not yet available, the battery drains quickly, and definitely not an iPhone. It’s different, and one should appreciate the differences, but it’s not for me.

I use the Verizon WiFi with my iPod Touch and it works perfectly. But I also need a reliable phone, and AT&T’s network doesn’t do it for me. Since my Verizon Razr is getting old, I tried the iPhone, and returned it too. Waiting for the iPhone on Verizon; that’s a dream come true.

I played with the Droid today and I tried to like it. It is NOT an iPhone and although you can find some of the same features, nothing was a easy and clean as with the iPhone. It seemed like it was trying to be an iPhone and many disadvantages were apparent. #1 Can sync with iTunes and it is NOT an iPod, scrolling is jerky, cumbersome menu screens, app store not up to snuff, etc, etc. It may take some sales from the iPhone because it is better than previous offerings of smart phones from Verizon. Some people simply won’t switch carriers. Now they have an option to motivate them to stick with Verizon. Also, if people decide to buy Droid, they will be locked in to carrier for a couple years (unless early termination fee isn’t problem).

At this point, I think the carrier has a lot to do with how well the phone sells. The Iphone was different bcos Apple seems to be a cult. Verizon needs to give their custom base something to hold on to instead of switching to ATT for the iPhone.

I had the 2G phone with Tmobile (long time customer). I really did not like ATT and it service. I bought the 3Gs (ATT Service) just becos I like the phone. I had the G1 and gave it away. Did not like the phone.
There is no phone like the iPhone. It is very difficult to switch from the iPhone to anyother phone.

I would like to use the Palm Pre but I won’t touch Sprint from a mile. I think it would have been an iPhone killer if not for sprint and its horrible service and expensive plans.

As for Customer Service and pricing, Tmobile is the best.

I was reading an article this morning reporting on the stores selling Droids in Manhattan. None of them had lines waiting for the stores to open and at the writing of the article they all had plenty Droids in stock. Will some happy customers with Verizon get a Droid instead of switching to an iPhone? I am a good deal of them will. Will users who know of spotty AT&T service in their area stick with Verizon for that reason? Again I am sure they will. Is it the end of the iPhone going up in market share while others gets smaller? Not just because the Droid came out.
Probably the easiest response Apple could have to the Droid is another software release that would address some of the still lingering complaints with the OS. Open up some more customization that is clearly doable with jailbroke phones. Allow the lock screen to be customized, wall paper, themes, etc.

I am guessing there has been a persistent bleed from Verizon to AT&T due to the iPhone. The Droid will surely slow that down a little. And, if just a single person buyers a Droid instead of an iPhone who was considering both, well, there is an affect on iPhone sales. More impact will be felt by RIMM and their Blackberries though.

I paid the termination fee to gladly leave the Blackberry Storm in the dust and purchase the IPhone. Verizon wasn’t the problem, it was there phone. Now with the Droid occupying there time, the IPhone just may stay exclusive to AT&T. I live in an area saturated with orange on those maps Verizon is showering us with…

If you live in one of those areas on the map with no orange coloring, you should get a Droid. I live in NY, plan on staying here till I die, so I am happy with the IPhone. And AT&T’s coverage, here…LOL…

And by the way, Droid is ugly in my opinion and I don’t like the keyboard. If my IPhone wasn’t jailbroken, I might feel differently about feature comparisons. I watched that video comparison on here like most and the IPhone still rocks…
