Are any dev’s working on bringing iOS 4 to iPhone 2g? It’s obviously not a hardware issue, as the hardware is virtually identical to the 3g, its just Jobs wanting my money…. But my 2g works wonders still and I want iOS 4 (primarily for iBooks)

I have a question I have never had to deal with before. I have a 3gs and want to upgrade to 4. The problem is that my phone is synced with my MacBook pro. The fan died on the mbp, and I wand to start using my p.c. Anyway since it has become my htpc. The obvious problem is the migration of sync. I would like to not lose my emails and contacts (and aps too) when I redo my phone, but it says it will erase everything. So, how would I go about backing up my phone without losing my stuff? I’d appreciate help on this, thanks

just attach your iphone with the new computer. when it shows up in itunes, right click the icon on the left panel and create a backup. The only thing you would loose will be the music & video files.

thank you very much! I kind of thought that I could do that, but I am new to windows (well, recent windows) and am still unsure how that all works…man, I just need to get my mbp fixed
anyway thanks again
A huge chunk of these updates are already available on my jailbroken itouch – I’m not so sure I want to upgrade! Will I be able to jailbreak this new OS?

Yes. What iPod touch do you have?
I had been using android for a few months on the Nexus One while I waited to update to iOS 4, now that I got rid of the N1 and am using a 3GS again I will never go back to android.
Apple has nailed multitasking, folders are awesome, overall the only other improvement I could see would be offering the iPhone on more carriers.

Thanks finally for some content. Keep things coming.

I updated to the new 4.0 firmware and i knew that all my jailbroken stuff would go away. However my custom carrier logo still stayed and i dont know how to change it without setting up as a new iphone. if i were to get the new iphone 4 and restore from a back up would it then transfer onto the new iphone? its a dead give away when taking it to apple to have it serviced.

Yes, it stays when restoring from a backup. The way around it is to change it back before you upgrade.
thanks so much doug for taking the time to respond to my question. I know your a busy guy! Now that I’m on the 4.0 software is there a way to change it now?

Is anyone using a Bluetooth keyboard on iPhone 3GS other than Apple’s since updating to iOS 4? And if so, which one?

Just picked up a Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard 6000 from Staples for $50, works great.
Is anyone else having a problem with the screen not displaying during a phone call and/or as the call is ending?? I upgraded to iOS4 and have lost that function, which I’m not sure is a bug or a software issue. Basically, I have to wait for the other person to hang up their phone and for mine to reset afterwards to the home screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
