The new jailbreak is out! Just visit jailbreakme.com from your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and follow the instructions. We’ll have video and more soon. Video below! We’re also going to post a list of apps that work and don’t work from Cydia. Please let us know in the comments or @reply us at @iphoneschool.
Note: There have been some errors with some people losing old text messages and some losing the ability to place a call using FaceTime. There are fixes on the way. A quick fix for FaceTime problems are to sync your iPhone and make a backup by right clicking on it in iTunes on the left. Then restore your iPhone and then restore from a backup and it fixes it. While writing this article, the dev team fixed the problem. New users wanting to jailbreak are fine now. To fix already jailbroken try updating Cydia and resetting network settings or just SSH and do the following:
For existing users, chmod 755 /private/var/mobile/Library; chmod 755 /private/var/mobile/Library/Preference then Reset Network Settings.

Didn’t work for me. First time it crashed. Second time, after telling me of the crash and suggesting it might work if I ran it again, it just showed a star backdrop and froze. Nothing else. Tried a few times. Oh well… still waiting.
the same thing happened to me.. i even let it sit like that overnight–didn’t work. anyone help?? i’ve been waiting to jailbreak it for soo long and now it’s not working
Before I “Slide to Jailbreak,” is this also an all boot rom jailbreak? I’ve been waiting patiently with my 3GS since Apple released the new one last October. Other than that, glad to see the revival of jailbreakme.com!
A bootROM jailbreak cannot be exploited while the phone is turned on and running, a bootROM jailbreak is hardware specific. BootROM jailbreaks take advantage of the hardware of the phone to load custom code on it (reprogramming it almost) by use of a computer. In English, you cannot reprogram a computer by running software on the computer you wish to reprogram, the act of reprogramming must be done by another computer.
Ok. So let me rephrase my question: I’ve got an MC model 3GS, can I use this new jailbreak?

Clean up your search history and then go to the “jailbreak”
it’s still not working for me.. do i have to delete all of my bookmarks and stuff too? that might of happened when i cleared my history… i’m not sure..

If you use this does everything on your iPod delete? Like is all your stuff still on the iPod?
When will this be updated to include iphone 4 running 4.1? I cant jailbreak with the current tools cause my computer isnt an Intel based Mac.
It most likely wont be. It was a PDF exploit in Safari. Apple has fixed it so this won’t work again unless there in a new Safari exploit.
