The iPhone 4 unlock is ready! Remember, unlocking is different from jailbreaking. Unlocking lets you use your iPhone on other carriers. Of course, in the US the only other carrier that works with the iPhone is T-Mobile. This unlock is done by first jailbreaking the iPhone allowing applications to be installed that Apple doesn’t approve of. Then, in Cydia, you will need to add this source: repo666.ultrasn0w.com Then you can install ultrasn0w.
ultrasn0w 1.0-1 is compatible with iPhone4 on baseband 01.59 and 3G/3GS basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 05.13.04.

I do have an Iphone 3 GS that runs FW 3.1.2, Baseband 05.11.07….unfortunatly I do not know if my iphone is unlocked out of the box or if it is necessary to activate it after updating to 4.0.1. As I know there is no hacktivation possible if not done with the original simcard the iphone is originally locked to. But how do i know? I do have an old AT&T Simcard that was sent with the Iphone when I bought it (i actually use an italian carrier) but when I insert the AT&T simcard into my iphone it says: No Simcard installed.
Now to my question: How do i know, if the originally AT&T simcard lets me activate my iphone after updating it? Can anyone help me?

Dude just borrow the simcard who has at&t installed simple ur phone will be activated
Its just not that easy to find someone with an AT&T Simcard here in Italy :). Thats why I asked if there is maybe a possibility to find out if that simcard isn’t working or if there is any other possibility to know if my Iphone would need an hacktivation.

Maybe you can buy another sim card (pay as you go) and pop it in and see if it picks up a signal…If it says no service then it is not unlocked,but if it does pick up something,then it is…

I do have the Pro version Doug, it’s nice, but buggy right now. The only real difference (although a very nice difference) is the ability to view the log anywhere very akin to sbsettings. Sometime today the add-on which makes the notification more Palm Pre like (bearable) is expected to hit the fan, I am understandably excited to give it a try.
Also, I wasn’t so much as disappointed in you guys, more just overly excited about the notified project.
My friend has a old 3G iphone and currently uses att with another phone.. If he were to unlock it and put his sim card from his phone that he is currently using can he use the iphone without having to have a iphone data plan and just use it as a phone for calls and texting?
Yes, it should work. Just use wifi for data.

Hey guys. I need help. My visual voicemail is not working. I can still receive voicemail the old way if have to dial 1. But no notification whatsoever that I received a voicemail. I tried calling AT&T and they reset my network settings but still can’t receive any visual voicemail. Does anyone experience the same thing since you unlock or jailbreak your phone?
