3G Unrestrictor – Enable Wifi Features Over 3G & EDGE (FaceTime on 3G!) (video)

3G Unrestrictor has been updated to work with iPhone 4 and firmware 4.x. You know what this means! FaceTime calls anywhere! Now we’ve tested this out, and really it works better on 3G than it does on EDGE but it does work. Once installed you can just open the app and select apps you’d like to fake out. This makes them think your phone is on Wifi instead of 3G or EDGE. Other apps that this can help with instead of FaceTime are the App Store, which won’t let you download apps over 20MB. This goes for videos in iTunes too. Although Skype recently announced the use of Skype over 3G, you can avoid additional costs if they ever do decide to charge for it. Another place this will help is when videos download over 3G they are compressed more which makes them more blurry. With 3G Unrestrictor, YouTube thinks it’s on Wifi and will download the full resolution version.

Description

3G Unrestrictor allows you to go around the iPhone’s limitations and restrictions of not being able to use some applications like FaceTime, Skype or SlingPlayer while on a mobile internet connection like 3G or EDGE as well as many other things. It allows those things by tricking applications into believing they are on WiFi, even though they are on 3G or EDGE.

What you can do with it

It allows you for example while on 3G/EDGE/GRPS:

* Make and receive FaceTime calls while on the go on 3G!
* Watch high quality YouTube videos, just like on WiFi
* Download apps bigger than 20MB from the App Store
* Download music, TV shows and podcasts bigger than 20MB from the iTunes Store
* Make free calls using VoIP software like Skype without additional fees
* Watch TV with SlingPlayer, HavaPlayer, EyeTV, Sky Mobile TV or other TV apps
* And much, much more since 3G Unrestrictor works with almost all apps (Check out the verified apps section to see with which apps 3G Unrestrictor DEFINITELY works!

Features

* Works with almost all applications (check the verified apps list to see which apps DEFINITELY work)
* SBSettings toggle: Quickly enable and disable whether apps should be unrestricted
* Can detect when application might be trying to check whether they are on 3G and ask whether you want to unrestrict them(disabled by default)
* Easy to use interface where you select apps that should be unrestricted

Devices and Firmware Compatibility

The following devices are supported:
iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and the iPad (3G model).

You need firmware 3.0 or higher to be able to install 3G Unrestrictor. It is fully compatible with iOS 4!

Apps verified to work

3G Unrestrictor is able to unrestrict almost all apps. This list only lists apps which the developer personally verified to be working. If the app you want to use with 3G Unrestrictor is not in this list, the chances are still EXTREMELY high, that it will still work.

  1. I purchased 3G Unrestrictor for 3GS. How do I transfer license or tell cydia that I already purchased? I’m using the same acct in cydia.

    • You should be able to sign in using the same account and it will show it’s purchased. You can set up 4 devices. I would contact @saurik.

  2. As cool as that was!!! Your setting a bad example for all those young drivers. Still awsome though!!!

  3. Doug Chapin says

I had 3G Unrestrictor (before it was updated to work with facetime.) But I purchased My3G (through Rock) and it works with facetime. What I am wondering is if I run both, will there be a problem? Anyone running both?

  4. with the recent change in data usage from at&t to charge more for less…, is there anyway or anything yet to trick the iphone that its on wifi all the time so it doesnt count for using data, or does at&t track that through the towers. ect. and not the phone itself?

  5. My phone is unlocked and I have T-mobile. When i put my sim card into the Iphone 44, Facetime is now longer an option. is this compatible at all. I also have trouble using mms.

  6. Does it allow us to use the 200Mbps plan as unlimited? Please let me know if there is something that can do that. Thanks.
