iSkin Duo Case for iPad – Review

iSkinThis is the first case I’ve used on my iPad besides the Apple case. If I could rate the case based on looks it would be a winner, but the type of material used (silicone with Microban® antimicrobial technology) to manufacture it makes it a fail in my book. The material is just too smooth and slippery. Setting it on almost any surface that is at an angle, even my jeans, causes it to slide down. Something more rubbery and grippy would make it a perfect case. It’s easy to get on and off but the material is so flimsy it just feels cheap. I’ve been pretty impressed with most iSkin products, like my iPhone 4 case (iSkin solo), but I can’t say that about this case.

Another fail in the design is the grips that are located on the back of the case. They are only on two corners of the case. Since the iPad is held both vertical and horizontal, there should be grips on all four corners.

I do like that the front border is covered all the way around. This lets me hold the device knowing I’m not touching the screen causing accidental multitouch gestures. In regards to protecting the iPad, I feel it’s doing a good job of that. Besides no cover for the screen, this material does seem to protect well.

Overall, this case is just not for me. If it was more grippy then I would be in. Honestly, I couldn’t wait to get the case off and get my Apple one back on.
