  1. Although I do agree with most of your statements here by the latest tech news you’ve got a couple of things wrong, not necessarily saying your wrong it could be a typo or we could be saying the same thing. The first thing that I noticed was the A8 processor, there isn’t an A8 processor nor should there be one any time soon the name A4 was given because the A4 processor is a single-core Cortex A8 processor. The next processor is said to be an A9-based multicore processor thus being called the A5, one step up from A4. The second thing I noticed was the dual boot mode for CDMA and GSM iPhones and iPads, I don’t think that there would be a dual boot mode because it is just a small chip. Although it is all operating from one device there is still no dual booting involved, it’s all in the hardware. With AT&T its all off the sim card, which is completely removable, while Verizon has a built in chip(virtually a sim card) that receives the data, and can’t be removed. What is supposed to happen or what I believe is going to happen is that the will just add in that chip along with the sim card tray. Or maybe a possibility but not likely knowing AT&T always being last to the finish line, maybe AT&T will have a built in chip too and then the can dual-sim/dual-boot it.

  2. No way will we see a USB or SD card slot on the iPad. Especially if it’s going to be thinner! Apple already have a healthy profit line in selling the adaptors, why would they want to put an end to that?

We may want them, but there’s no chance of Apple actually doing it!

qualcomm has been making a dual architecture combination CDMA/GSM radio for quite a few years now. a boot into alternate mode won’t be necessary. a soft switch on the fly is all it would take.

  4. Dane K. Johnson says

Do you guys remember when Cingular switched to GSM and the were offering “gate” phones that would switch from CDMA and GSM automatacly?

  5. Stickconsultant says

This reminds me of Doug’s original post/rumor about the iPad before it was launched – some said he was crazy to suggest it would have iPhone operating system….

  6. In iPad 2, I think we’ll see:

    – thinner & sleeker
    – remain 10″
    – front and rear cameras
    – multicore processor

    I don’t think we’ll see:

    – higher resolution 2048×1536 resolution at a 260 DPI
    – sd card slot
    – usb port
    – dual mode CDMA & GSM to work on any carrier

It just doesn’t make sense that Apple should turn on its heels and give us USB ports on this device. Nor does it makes sense for them to give us SD card slots. Immensly practical for the user, but it would take away a lot of the motivation to buy an overpriced 64 GB version. I also worry that a high res screen will be deemed too costly and without any real benefits to be produced. I hope I’m wrong on all accounts.
