MobileNotifier – A Better Notification System

I really, really, really hate the pop up notifications on the iPhone. Really. So when I saw this alternative I was very excited to try it out. It looks great and so far, works well. Instead of getting a pop up for a text, you get what’s pictured below. Much better. When you receive a text, you will be able to select if you want to view it now or later. If you choose now, it opens up your Messages app and if you choose later, it leaves a badge on the stock Messages app icon and closes the notification.

SIGnify – Add HTML to Your Email Signature

We’ve wrote about tweaking your email signature before but it was a detailed process which involved SSH and other complicated steps. This hack is simple and once installed, just requires you to use HTML to tweak your signature. You can change colors, fonts and size as well as add pictures and other images. To do this you’ll have to know some HTML but there is a nice guide at http://www.mygreatiphone.com/html-signature-tips-for-use-with-signify/ that helps you out with basic changes. [Read more…]

iSocialShare – Post Pictures to Facebook & Twitter from Photo App

iSocialShare is one of those features Apple should have built right into the iOS software. This app allows you to post pictures right to Facebook or Twitter from your stock Photos app. Just click on the little cloud button and choose Facebook or Twitter. Then you can add a comment and send. It uses Twitpic to post the image on Twitter and on Facebook it creates a new album called iPhone iSocial Tweak Photos. It works really well and now the only thing it needs is an option to post it to both at the same time using the same comment text. [Read more…]

Trickle – Full Screen Twitter Slideshow

I’ve been looking for an app like this that works with both Twitter and Facebook but Trickle or works with Twitter. What I was looking for was a full screen app that did a slideshow of Twitter and Facebook status updates. It would be even sweeter if it supported something like Flickr too and would show full screen pics when twitpics or Facebook photos show up. Ok, so enough dreaming, all I could find was this app. It’s actually quite nice and simple with a few decent settings to customize things. [Read more…]

IconMaker – Create Custom Icons From Your iPhone

IconMaker is a pretty cool application that allows you to quickly create custom icons right from your device. It turns images into nice shiny, rounded icons. Personally, this is an awesome application for me. I create icons all the time and now, instead of opening Photoshop on my computer and creating an icon, I can create it right on my iPhone!

When you open the application, there are a few options;

No Screenshot Flash – Remove “Flash Effect” When Taking Screenshot

No Screenshot Flash is a hack that removes the “flash” when you take a screenshot. It will still make the “shutter” sound when you take a screenshot it will just no longer have the quick white “flash.” That is basically all there is to it. A simple little hack. It worked exactly like it was supposed to when I tested it. You can get No Screenshot Flash via the BigBoss source.

Page2D – Scroll SpringBoard Both Vertically and Horizontally [Video]

Page2D is a sweet hack that allows the SpringBoard to scroll both horizontally and vertically. This brings me back to the day (way before Apple came out with the scrolling SpringBoard) when we scrolled the SpringBoard vertically instead of horizontally. Anyway, this is a pretty cool hack that allows you to do both horizontally and vertically… allowing for A TON of page options. Check out the video demos below. Note the page dots on the bottom of the SpringBoard that help you keep track of what page you are on. I’m glad it adds the page dots because when I was watching the video, I was like, I’m sooo going to get lost in my pages!!

EasyRearrange – Quickly Rearrange Icons

EasyRearrange is a hack that allows you to quickly rearrange apps on your SpringBoard. The hack starts like every other rearranging application… by putting your icons into “wiggle” mode so that you are able to move them around your SpringBoard. Now, this is where the application is different from the rest, you then tap the icon you would like to move. This will suspend the icon allowing you to scroll to the page you would like the icon moved to. So, instead of dragging the icon from one page to the next page to the next page until you are on the page you would like… the icon stays put and the pages move behind it. Then, just tap the Home button and the icon will drop onto that page.

FBphotoSave – Save Photos from Facebook Application to Camera Roll

FBphotoSave is a hack that allows you save photos from the Facebook application to your Camera Roll. Normally, the stock photo saving method that allows you to tap and hold on an image to save it to your device does not work in the Facebook application however FBphotoSave enables this feature.

It’s a super simple little hack. Once installed, you can use the hack by tapping and holding on any photo in the Facebook application. When you release your hold, you will get a pop-up with the options to Cancel the save or Confirm the save. If you select Confirm it will display a little HUD saying that the photo has been saved. You can then go into your Camera Roll and view the saved image.

ManualCorrect – User Controlled Auto-Correct

ManualCorrect is a hack that removes the stock auto-correct feature and replaces it with more user controlled auto-correct. Basically, the stock auto-correct automatically changes some of the words that you type (which can leave for some interesting emails and messages!) where ManualCorrect removes the stock auto-correct feature and puts in it’s place the option to choose a correction.

ShowCase – Uppercase and Lowercase Characters on Keyboard

ShowCase is a nice little hack that changes the stock keyboard to display the current character case of the letters. Normally, the letters on the keyboard are always displayed as uppercase no matter if you have have the “Shift” key selected or not. With this hack, when the “Shift” key is selected, the characters on the keyboard will display as uppercase letters however if the “Shift” key is not selected, the characters on the keyboard will display as lowercase letters.

PwnageTool 4.2 – Untethered Jailbreak for all devices on 4.2.1

This one was a long wait but the wait is finally over. All of you waiting on 4.1 or those of you rejailbreaking anytime your devices was rebooted or the battery died, now you don’t have to mess with that any more (except if you have a iPod touch 2G). The new jailbreak is a PwnageTool. This means you will create a custom firmware and restore your device with that file. There were initially some problems with iBooks not working and the Apple TV 2 having Wifi troubles but the Dev Team has got it all straightened out and it’s now safe to upgrade. Make sure you take note of your jailbreak apps because you’ll need to reinstall them and also sync your device too. Here’s a link to the Dev Team’s website where you can download the new PwnageTool. You’ll also need the right firmware which you can get on our sources page.

HomePage – Always Return to 1st Home Screen

This is a simple and free hack that brings you back to your 1st home screen after closing any app. So, if you swipe to page 4 and open an app, once you close it you will be taken right back to the first page. Works great! One thing that does annoy me is when you open an app in a folder you have to close the folder before it will return to the home screen. Hopefully this will be fixed or become an option. Here’s a video demo.

Tankbot – Remote Controlled from iPhone or iPad

I’m a guy. So I really like remote controlled anything. I love to watch videos of Traxxas vehicles on YouTube and dream of the day I can afford one. A friend of mine also has been leaving his Air Hog’s (Warning: Flash) helicopter at work lately and even though it’s a simple model, it’s addicting. So, when I heard about this little tank I can control with my iPhone or iPad, I was excited to learn more. I’m trying to contact them for a little more info. For now, they are going to be about $20. Here’s their website: mydeskpets.com/tankbot
