Butterfly

ButterflyDeveloper’s description of game: Catch butterflies in this fun, accelerometer-based demo game.

The object of this game is to catch butterflies using a net that moves when you tilt your iPhone. The butterfly moves freely on the screen as you tilt the iPhone to move the net in the path of the butterfly. It keeps track of the number of butterflies you have caught and the amount of time you have left (you get one minute). My favorite part of the game is the sound effects…as you play you feel like you are in a rain forest! Butterfly is available through the Ste Packaging source. Here are some screenshots:

Balls

BallsDeveloper’s description of game: An accelerometer-based demo game.

This game’s purpose is to demonstrate the ability of the interface with the accelerometer. You are able to move a ball around the screen by tilting the iPhone. The ball is very accurately in how is reacts and responds in it’s environment. Try as you may, you will never “win” in this game…trust me, I’ve tried! Balls is available through the Ste Packaging source. Screenshots:

Aquarium

Aquarium Developer’s description of game: Game. Aquarium is available through the Ste Packaging source.

In this game you get to feed a little fish (who looks like Nemo)! The fish swims randomly around on the screen waiting for you to feed it. All you have to do is tap on the screen where you want the fish food to fall. When the food falls the fish goes and eats it! I did have someone ask me if he gets fatter the more you feed him…the answer is…no, he does not. He just keeps on eating and stays the same size! Some lovely screenshots:

15

15 Developer’s description of game: A twisted sliding puzzle. Tilt your iPhone to move pieces. Available through the Ste Packaging source.

When you first open 15 the pieces will be in order from 1-15 and then it automatically shuffles the pieces so they are randomly placed. (No, the game is not broken and moving on it’s own…you just have to wait!! Unlike some people who are impatient and thought it was broken!! That would be me.) Once the pieces are in their random order you can tilt the iPhone to move the pieces where you would like them. The point of the game is to get them back in order from 1-15. You do have to be careful because the game is very sensitive and might move more pieces than you would like it to. Overall, a very well designed and challenging game. Here are some screenshots:

iApp-a-Day – Melt

MeltThe app for November 3rd is “Melt.” As soon as you start the app a timer at the bottom of the screen starts and on the screen are two ice cubes. As you rub your finger over the ice cubes they start to melt. If you stopping moving your finger the ice cubes stop melting. Once the ice cubes are melted it gives you the time it took you to melt the ice cubes and then the option to view the global status. In the global status you will see how many times the ices cubes have been melted, the average melting time and how many hours have been “wasted” melting virtual ice cubes! Here are some screenshots:
