SDK Release

WoW! So far this press conference has been everything we hoped it would be! The SDK is said to be the exact same SDK apple uses to create there applications. They brought a few Dev companies in and gave them 2 weeks to develop applications. SalesForce.com, Sega, EA, AOL each presented games/applications they developed in those 2 weeks and the results are amazing! The SDK developed applications will be available through App Store a new application that will live on your iPhone. While Companies will be able to charge for their applications, there is also said to be free applications as well! [Read more…]

1.1.4 ZiPhone Jailbreak

ZiPhone’s latest version (2.5 at the time of writing this) can be found here. It is highly recommended that you do a full restore to iPhone FW 1.1.4, because just updating to 1.1.4 will leave all your 3rd party applications on your iPhone but you won’t have access, nor will Installer recognize them as installed.

Go download ZiPhone from the link above. When you run it it will ask you where you want to extract everything, I just created a folder on my Desktop. Go to that folder and run ZiPhoneGUI. [Read more…]

Jailbreak 1.1.4 – My Progress

Well I have been completely successful in jailbreaking 1.1.4 with Zibri’s ZiPhone 2.5. But I have had problems getting some apps to run correctly. I have found a way to fix most of them, the only exception being Customize.

There is a problem where Installer won’t let you install 1.1.3 version apps on 1.1.4, but there is a fix on installer now. Also I had to manually add my own symbolic links, as the 1.1.3 installer fixes did not properly create a sym link in 1.1.4

Sorry for the delay, but I will do a full write up tomorrow.

findme – LowJack for your iPhone

TwitterErica Sadun is at it again with a completely amazing app! Findme is just a script that runs in the background and print the lat/long of your location. But when combined with Twitter (a buddy tracking web application) findme becomes one of the coolest iPhone hacks yet! Before I explain the whole hack, check out the end result on my twitter twitter.com/JakesiPhone

The first great use of this I thought of, is my trip to Italy this summer. I can give my Twitter URL to family and friends so they can see my progress through the country. But the intended use is to set up your Twitter as a private account, so only you can check it. Then if you iPhone ever gets stolen, you can see where its at! Which has potential in the future to be so much more. The script could be modified to take a photo and record the location, so you could possibly get a picture your thief caught red handed! That is of course my pipe dream, but the ability is there. Just need some one to develop it.

Check out the Hack after the break. [Read more…]

XLaunch 0.30-113

XLaunchXLaunch is another well done application from Erica Sadun, and can be found in Installer.app from the Ste Packaging source under the System category. The application itself is very clean and is very similar to the Song list in the iPod app on your iPhone. It lists all applications in alphabetical order and has a header for each letter, and even uses the same scrolling alphabet on the right hand side.

If you like to keep your Springboard nice and clean, and are on 1.1.3, use this application with Poof. Use poof to hide all the applications you don’t want to see, then use XLaunch to find them later when you need them. Screen shots after the break! [Read more…]

Taskbar Notifier (1.1.3) 0.9

One of my favorite little applications has released an update on installer for iPhone v1.1.3! In case you haven’t seen this app before, there is no icon added to your Springboard, it instead adds a little graphic to the status bar at the top on the screen when you have new mail, or text messages, and now will even show when you have a missed phone call! See THIS post for more info about the app. It can be found in Installer.app from the iClarified source, under the iClarified category. Check out the screenshots after the break!
This can now be found from this repo: source: http://dajavax.googlepages.com/repo.xml

VoiceNotes v.31

IconErica Sadun has released version .31 of Voicenotes, and it can be found on Installer.app from Ste Packaging source under the category “Multimedia”.

I contacted Erica on her site to get a change log, and I got this response:

“I’m afraid that grown-up real-developers do things like change logs.
I’ve just been hacking at the software. Sorry!”

lol.

I didn’t notice any changes in this version, but I don’t use it a whole lot. Maybe you can find some? [Read more…]

1.1.3 SMB Theme Fix on Installer.app

IconiPod Touch Fans have added a 1.1.3 SummerBoard themes fix called “1.1.3 Theme Fix” to their repo. It can be found in Installer.app under the category “Tweaks (1.1.3)”. Install it once, then every time you add a new theme through the Installer.app go to the uninstall list in Installer and “reinstall” the 1.1.3 Theme Fix, similar to how you reinstall BSD Subsystems.

This is just a code application, you will not see anything on your Springboard!

Basically it just runs the script I showed you before every time you ‘reinstall’ this app. Nice, quick, and easy for those who are scared of running a command line script. Some screen shots after the break. [Read more…]

NES 2.0.5

  • More code cleanup
  • Improved swiping, removed false swipes when scrolled from center [Read more…]

Scrabble

IconScrabble for the iPhone runs through Jiggy. Jiggy is application development and running software for the iPhone. I hadn’t tried Jiggy out yet, because I thought it was for developers only. But I have been shown the light! Install instructions and screenshots after the break. [Read more…]

Fixing Showtime (Unlimited) and Themes for 1.1.3

This will fix the problem with the outdated Showtime Unlimited and outdated themes for SummerBoard. It does require you to SSH into your iPhone and use WinSCP/PuTTY for Windows and … for OSX (I don’t have a Mac so I’ll have to fill these parts in when I figure them out.) You will have to run short scripts from the command line. Pacemakers beware! If you think you can handle it and must have these fixes, proceed. [Read more…]

Pool

PoolPool is available from the iPod Touch Fans repository listed in Installer.app under Games (once you add the source). If you, like me, played games on previous cell phones, you have probably seen, and played, various pool games. Pool by iPod Touch Fans is the closest thing yet. It is a single player, stripes vs. solids game, with easy to control shots and accurate bounces. Use your finger to align the cue (very easy to do), and swipe your finger across the power slider on the right (which I find to be very well implemented). It’s only short comings are multi-player and the graphics are a bit lacking (but not a game-stopper). I will be playing this game as much as I play iBlackjack, or as much as my wife played FiveDice, which is alot! Check out the screenshots after the break! [Read more…]

ZiPhone 1.1.3 ‘True’ jail-break!

Note: New version 1.1 is out for ZiPhone! get it here

I have been MIA for awhile because I messed up a manual install and was forced to upgrade to an unjailbroken 1.1.3. The last few weeks have been long and grey. But I am pleased to announce that a true 1.1.3 jailbreak is upon us!!!

Zibri (his blog here) formally from the Dev team, now works with the ‘elite’ team, has posted the long withheld jailbreak, allowing 1.1.3 otb(out-of-the-box) or otherwise updated 1.1.3 iPhones a VERY easy way to jailbreak and retain all of 1.1.3’s great features! [Read more…]
