Showtimes is an application that searches for movie theaters in your area, available movies in those theaters and has the ability to map the theater from your current location. When you open the application, you will get a pop-up (actually two pop-ups) asking if it is ok for Showtimes to use your current location. You have to select Yes or the application will crash. Once the application has located your current location you will get a list of theaters starting with the theater that is closest to your current location and ending with the theater furthest from your current location. Here you will see the Name of the theater, the address of the theater, the distance you are from the theater and a Map icon (which will open Google Maps with directions to the theater). Below each theater heading is a list of all the movies available in that theater, the movie rating, the length of the movie and all the showing times for that movie. Tomatoes is a simple application that allows you to search for movies… new or old. When you open the application, you will get the main search screen. Once you have enter the title of a the movie you would like to search for, you can select search in the lower right corner of the keyboard. It will then bring up the most relevant movie based on your search. The search results screen will display the title of the video, the year it was released, the rating, the length of the movie, the percentage based on user ratings and general information about the movie (who it was starring and a short description). To go to the next search result, just swipe to the left. If you would like even more information about the video you can tap on the movies title and it will open a web browser to Rotten Tomatoes web page for that movie. 
Dobot Todos is a very simple, yet very functional To-Do list application. It allows you to create categories and then add tasks inside each category. When you open the application, you will find two default categories; Personal and Work. You can create your own category by selecting the + icon in the upper right corner. You can delete a category by swiping it and then selecting delete. When you select a category, you can add a task to that category using the + icon in the upper right corner. You can enter the task’s title, due date, priority and add notes to the task. Once you finished entering all of the task info, select done on the keyboard and then you can select Save in the upper right corner of the screen.
Bubbles is an application that creates bubbles…yes, bubbles. When you open the application you will get a screen with quick instructions, “Drag to create & tap to pop.” That is really all there is to it…drag to create bubbles, tap to pop them. When the bubbles pop, they make a nice little popping noise. The bubbles are affected by the iPhone’s accelerometer though, it would be nice if they reacted a little quicker. Also, the bubbles pop pretty quickly on there own, not leaving much time for them to be popped. I guarantee there are two very different opinions of this application; pointless and life saver. Only a parent will truly understand the full value of this application! Even five minutes of entertainment can be a life saver!!

CheckWord is a simple application that allows you to check whether or not words are good or bad in games like Scrabble. I love the developer’s description, “Quicker than using a dictionary, easier than using a computer.” See, now that is why we love our iPhones! When you open the application, you will come to the main screen. Here you can enter the word you would like to check. The application auto capitalizes every letter…which is fine, it will work either way. Once you have entered the word select Search. It will then display whether the word is good (can be used in Scrabble) or bad (it cannot be used in Scrabble). The first word I tried was iPhone…it was Bad! Then I tried Apple and it was Good so that made it ok. :) If you select the i icon in the upper right corner, 
FlipBook is an application that allows you to easily create flipbooks right on your iPhone. For those of your who are not familiar with flipbooks, below is a demo video.
