There was an update to the Cydia Community Sources today. The update adds the iSpazio source to the list of sources. The sources url for the iSpazio source is http:ispaziorepo.com/cydia/apt/ The iSpazio source does add a few nice themes though I have found that the more info section of the themes does not work…so, no previews are available. But, if you haven’t already, you will want to check out the Reveal theme…it is one of my favorites!

The update to WinterBoard 0.9.2520-2 makes some significant changes to the how the application works. When you open WinterBoard you will notice that you now have the ability to move files around using the three bars to the right of the files. You can also choose more than one file. Now, here is where it can get a little tricky.
The files take priority based on which file comes first. So lets say you have added a few files to Winterboard and they include, a file that is a transparent dock, a file that is a pink status bar and a file with your favorite theme. If you choose your theme file but, your theme doesn’t have a transparent dock and you prefer if it does, you can choose both the transparent dock file and the theme files. You would then move the transparent dock file before your theme file. That way the transparent dock would overwrite the dock that come with the theme.

SMSNotify is an application that will allow your iPhone to vibrate when you have a missed text message or a new voicemail. This is actually not a new application, it is also available via Installer for firmware 1.1.4 and below. However, the app has changed slightly. In SMSNotify 2.0, if you have a missed text, your iPhone will vibrate three times and if you have a new voicemail, your iPhone will vibrate two times. However, this only works if your iPhone is in sleep mode (or lock mode). If your iPhone is plugged in or not in sleep mode, the app will not make your iPhone vibrate. ‘

Whirlwind21 is basically Blackjack Solitaire. The object of the game is to score as close to 21 as possible in all five rows….without going over 21. When the app opens, you will get the main play screen. At the top of the screen you have the options; New Game and About. New Game will start and new game and About will give your a little info about the game and your High Score. At the bottom of the play screen you can see your current score and how many cards are left before a reshuffle.

Lockdown is an application that allows you to password protect applications on your iPhone. When you first open the application you will get a screen asking you to enter a safety word that will be used in the event that you lose forget your password. Once you have entered your safety word, you will then get a screen where you will need to enter the master password, this can be changed in the application. When you have entered your master password, you will be brought to the main screen of the application. Here you will see the options; Change Password, Show All Applications, Lock This Application, Use my Default.png and Forgot Password.
The Change Password option allows you to change your master password. If you select Show all Applications, you will get a list of all stock apps and application you have installed via Cydia. Here is an example of why it’s awesome to hack your iPhone. WinterBoard allows you to use a webpage as wallpaper. Now at first this might not seem that big of a deal, but think, you could have your twitter, weather radar, etc. as your background. Mind you, they’re not clickable, but it’s still kewl.
But even better, you can link to an image online. So you could make a link to an iPhone wallpaper online and just change the image without having to do anything to the iPhone.
Now… even better. I have this old php file that will pull random images from a folder on your server. I used to use it to change my wallpaper background on MySpace so everythime my profile would reload, the background would change. Well, I copied it over to this site’s server and dropped in a few wallpapers! Now my iPhone changes wallpaper every time I respring or reboot! I bet you could even make a moving gif wallpaper too! The update to version 2.01 of IntelliScreen just makes a few changes to the application. The two visual changes include the ability to choose alert sounds (see screenshots below) and an IntelliDial screen even if you do not have any Favorites selected. Now, if you press the Home button to go to IntelliDial and you do not have any Favorites selected you will get a screen that says, “IntelliDial uses your contact favorites. You have no favorite contacts.” There was also one bug fix that had to do with the app not starting. Other than that, no major changes. Though, I sure am glad to have IntelliScreen back! I really missed this app!! You can get IntelliScreen 2.01 in Cydia via the Intelliborn source.

It seems that biteSMS has been ported to firmware 2.0. The app has most of the features that the previous version had. However, below is a list of a few features that are still being worked on.
- The “Default App” functionality is not yet implemented (it’s being coded as we speak)
- Adding a contact from the address book does not slide away the keyboard (it should, it’s a bug and is being fixed)

Intelliscreen is now available for firmware 2.0 via Cydia. You need to add the Intelliborn source for Cydia which is intelliborn.com/cydia. I don’t notice any new features. Note that after installing you need to turn your iPhone off and back on to complete the install. At first I though I got the SWOD (spinning wheel of death) but after about 30 seconds the springboard re-sprang and everything was fine.

I was excited to see an update for WinterBoard in Cydia today! And, the update turned out to be exactly what I was hoping it would be! WinterBoard now supports changing the StatusBar and fixes the bug where the wallpaper was being cut off just above the dock and just below the StatusBar. A very cool update! Oh, they also changed the icon…which I like. Other than that, there were no change to the user interface, still just lists file names. However, it is nice to have my custom themes looking correctly (< --- pretty sure that is not proper grammar, I apologize to all English teachers)! Check out the screenshots below.
Note: I would like to say thanks to the Developer for adding the icon.png file to the WinterBoard.app folder. It makes my job A LOT easier!

Many of you who are on firmware 2.0 might be wondering why there are so many themes being added to Cydia when SummerBoard isn’t even available yet. The answer is WinterBoard. WinterBoard is an alternative to SummerBoard (get it…Summer and Winter! :)). It is an open source application, developed by Jay Freeman, that supports SummerBoard themes. At the moment WinterBoard is very primitive. There is basically no user interface and there are a few bugs. But, if you are desperate to change your theme and are not big on using Customize…this might be the app for you. When you open WinterBoard, you will notice that it comes with one default “theme.” You can install more themes via Cydia. They are available in the Themes and Themes (SummerBoard) categories.

A good restart/respring application is a necessity on any iPhone or iPod Touch (at least if you are doing any sort of customizing or SSHing). So, I thought I would run through the options that are currently available on 2.0 via Cydia. As of now, there are four application that allow you to restart/respring your iPhone; iReboot, PowerTool, Respring and BossPrefs. All of these apps are pretty much the same if not exactly the same as they were in 1.1.4 and below…they have just been ported to the 2.0 firmware.
iReboot gives you the option to Reboot your iPhone which brings you all the way out to the boot logo screen or the option to Restart your iPhone which will bring you to the lock screen.

The update to version 2.0 of AppFlow does exactly what I was hoping it would do! You are now able to set applications as your Home Button double tap! Very cool! The update pretty much takes the features from xLaunch and adds them into AppFlow. When you tap on an application, you will get a menu with the options; Launch application, Assign to DoubleTap, Badge It and Cancel. You are able to assign any application to the double tap including App Store apps. However, you can only assign badges to Cydia/Installer apps and not App Store applications. Also, you can only assign the double tap and badge from the list mode. If you tilt your iPhone and go into the Cover Flow mode, when you double tap an icon it will just launch that app and does not give you the menu. HPCalc is basically the craziest calculator application I have seen yet. And, as with all my calculator reviews, I will do my best to describe it! I probably only understand about 5% of this application so those of you who are like calculator gurus, go easy on me! :) When you open the application, it will open to a landscape calculator. As if that calculator wasn’t enough, you can select the HP icon in the upper right corner and get quite a few more options. On the main options menu you have the options; Select Calculator, Preferences, Constants and Unit Conversion.

MxTube has made it’s way into Cydia. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to see it so quickly based on a post written by the developer a few days ago saying that MxTube was going to be delayed due to a few bugs. It seems the developer has made a compromise releasing version 1.5a. It basically makes MxTube run on the 2.0 firmware…there are a few new feature but, it is not the full MxTube 2.0 version. The new features include; Background Downloader (which allows you to continue to download videos even after closing the application), Video Descriptions and the ability to watch videos in MxTube before downloading them. All of which are very cool new features!!
