Analytics – Google Analytics App

Available In: App Store       Price: $5.99

AnalyticsWith the new site design we’ve been tracking site statistics which got me wondering if there were any good Google Analytics apps. I’m pretty sure I’ve check before but when looking this time I found an app called “Analytics”. The screenshot previews looked good but the price was a little high at $5.99. At the time, it had 12 reviews with 4 out of 5 stars. After reading the reviews, only the first version had bad reviews. After an update to version 1.2 most reviews were 5 out of 5. Another selling point was the developer offers a refund via paypal if you’re not satisfied. [Read more…]

Now Edit Google Docs Spreadsheets On Your iPhone or iPod Touch

Finally, a feature long overdue! The ability to edit Google spreadsheets from your iPhone or iPod Touch (Android too). This does not include Documents, just Spreadsheets. This is a step in the right direction and will be great for those trying to track spending/budgets, travel/mileage, etc. It’s pretty easy and works well. Features include allowing you to add new rows, edit existing cells, sort by columns, and filter by terms. It would be better if it was a real app but this will do for now. [Read more…]

Google Sync for Mobile – Sync your iPhone or iPod Touch’s Calendar and Contacts with Google

GoogleIt’s about time!!!! You can now sync your iPhone or iPod Touch with your Google Calendar and Gmail’s contacts. You’re going to want to export all your contacts on your iPhone first so you can import them into Gmail. Otherwise Gmail will write over them the first time. Same thing with your calendar. I’m going to test this out tonight and let you know how it goes but I gotta get to my computer to back up my contacts and calendar first. Here’s a video from Google on how it works and you can learn more about setting it up at here.

Google Mobile App Update Adds Voice Search

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

Google Mobile AppThe update eveyone’s been waiting for is finally here! Google has release the update to Google Mobile App that includes voice search. On the iPhone, it uses the built in proximity sensor to begin recording when you hold the iPhone up to you ear. It will beep when the recording begins and when you stop talking or pull the iPhone away from your ear it stops. It then sends the recording to Google’s servers where it does the processing. Then it sends back search results, some which will launch the phone or maps applications. You can also tap the magnifying glass to the left of the search bar to change your search from iPhone & Web to Maps, Images, News, Shopping or Wikipedia. I haven’t tested the voice search in the car where there’s background noise but inside where it’s quite it’s working great.

At the bottom center of the app there is an Apps button. It takes you to a list of Google’s services, most formatted to the iPhone that open in Safari. There’s a long list that includes: Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Talk, Reader (my favorite), GOOG-411, News, Notebook, Photos, orkut, Translate, Maps, YouTube & Earth. You can also avail translate subtitle  for your translation works. You can even edit their order by tapping the edit button in the top right corner and dragging them around. iEarn – Adsense Tracking App

Available In: App Store       Price: $1.99

iEarnI’ve been waiting for this application for a while but I have to say I’m pretty disappointed with it. The app is pretty simple; it displays your earnings from Google’s Adsense program. The first thing that bothered me is that when you open the application you get a pop that says you need to enter your user info under the settings. After hitting ok, the application just closes. It took me about 10 times and reinstalling the app to figure out that the settings are under the iPhone Settings app. After I figured that out I was much happier.

While I was trying to figure out how to get the app to take my login info I checked out the reviews of the app in the App Store and found only two at the time. They both said that the app was very slow to load the information. Once I got my info in and the app running I got it to run ok, but slow, on my WiFi. Trying the app on EDGE was another story. It took so long I never found out how long it takes because I gave up. [Read more…]

NuevaSync

NuevaSyncFirst, NuevaSync is not an app in the App Store, Cydia or Installer. It is a website that hosts an amazing service. It takes your Google contacts and Calendar and creates a Microsoft Exchange service for you to connect to. Now I’m gonna warn you right away of two things. First, they will obviously have access to all of that info because it will be on their servers, so if you’re all about privacy this isn’t for you. Second, this will wipe all your contacts and calendar off your iPhone. You must sync your contacts with Microsoft Outlook or iCal and export them as a .CSV file and import them into Gmail if you want to keep them.

Now that your contacts are into Gmail just go to NuevaSync.com and setup an account. Then follow these instruction to set it up. [Read more…]

GoogleTalk for the iPhone

#Google TalkAs you know, Doug is a huge fan of Google which made an iPhone optimized version of Google Talk very exciting. To use the iPhone optimized version of Google Talk, you will need to go to www.Google.com/talk on your iPhone. If you have signed in to any Google service in Safari before, you will be automatically signed in. Once you are signed in, you will see a list of all your contacts that are available to chat via Google Talk. If they are logged in, there will be a green circle next to their names. If the circle is grey, they are currently not online. You can then tap on the contact you would like to chat with. This will open a seperate chat window where you can type your message. You can also choose to have your chat “Go off the record” with that contact by selecting the down arrow next to the contacts name. To get back to the main menu, [Read more…]

NemusSync 0.5.3 – Google Calendar & iPhone Sync Wirelessly

NemusSync I have been waiting for an app like this for quite a while. Synchronization between the iPhone Calendar & Google Calendar. It even supports multiple calendars. The first time syncing took a while but I do have a lot of calendars and events. I got a lot of doubled up events because I had the same things on both the iPhone and the Google Calendar. I’m going to clear some out now that it syncs! Once you sync the first time it’s much quicker to sync. You can also see all the calendars shared to you and choose which one’s will show up on the iPhone. [Read more…]

Google Releases Web Apps for the iPhone – Video

Here’s a video demonstration of the new release of google’s web apps for the iPhone.

Hidden Google Maps App for the iPhone

While making a demo video I captured this for a split second. It’s basically showing apps that are either part of the toolbar already or part of the “more” section but it also shows “Maps” which is currently not an option. I would assume this is different than “local” that is currently part of the apps package.

Google Phone for the iPhone

Ok, it’s not Android, but it’s still pretty sweet. Google has combined and optimized a bunch of web apps to work on the iPhone. What makes it so great is that there is a menu at the top that links to all the other apps. It also seems to pre-cache your other apps so when search it’s searching images in the background and they are ready right away when you tap images. Here’s a list of the apps: Google search, image search, local search, news, Gmail, Calendar, Reader, GOOG-411, SMS, Picasa Photos, Blogger, Notebook.
