Apple’s events starts today at 10am Pacific, 12pm (noon) Central, & 1pm Eastern. I’d say for sure there will be a camera in the iPod touch, possible the Nano and updates to iTunes making it more “social”. There’s also been talk of the App Store approval process practically coming to a halt the last few days, so maybe there are some new apps coming, or new features to the App Store. (push notifications please!) I’ll be posting anything and everything I can find that effects the iPhone or iPod touch here <del datetime="2009-09-09T18:22:40+00:00">over the next few hours so refresh often!</del>

1:21 – Well the event is over and no camera for the iPod touch. CRAZY! We’ll get some articles out with details on all the news from today shortly.

1:09 – Nora Jones has come out to play. Seems they are not adding a camera to the iPod touch. Major #fail here…

1:03 – Not iPhone news, but nano is getting an FM tuner, pedometer, larger display, voiceover, microphone and speaker too.

1:02 – Just the Nano has gotten the camera so far…

12:56 – They are moving on to the iPod Classic. No word on camera for the iPod touch yet…

12:55 – iPod touch will now support Open GL.

12:52 – New Prices and sizes for the iPod touch! $199 for 8GB, $299 for 32GB, $399 for 64GB!

Ok, so we’ve been busy for a few days but we’re home from the hospital and I just received a tweet that a friend of a friend just jailbroke his iPod Touch 2nd Gen using this guide without tethering! How sweet is that! So props goes to @sethreineke for sending me the tweet and @ericjd for testing it out. I’ve also checked online and haven’t found any risk or problems with this app. This guide only works with windows. Let us know if you have a Mac solution.

NOTE: Untethered means you do not have to have the cable hooked to your iPod and computer. The previous test versions required this but is no longer needed!

They are now shaped more like the iPhone with the curved back but are made out of stainless steel instead of plastic like the iPhone. They also come with volume control buttons which goes along nicely with the new internal speakers.

Another huge feature for the iPod Touch is Nike+ integration. Nike+ is a combination of a sensor on your Nike shoes and software on the iPod that integrates your running and music.

8GB, $229, 16GB for $299, and a 32GB for $399

There are rumors from new Nanos, MacBooks, the longed for tablet and even an update to Apple TV with an HD Tuner, Blueray and DVR (yeah right). We’re gonna stick to the iPhone and iPod here which is still a lot of info.

So far rumors include firmware 2.1. What will this include? Copy and Paste? Background notification service such as instant messaging we’ve seen in previewed in other keynotes. The iPhone itself most likely won’t get any upgrades. If anything it would be colors or capacity changes. The big deal is probably the iPod Touch. Changing to a look like the iPhone and adding a couple features like external speakers or mic is my guess. I’d also hope for a camera, GPS, Bluetooth, volume controls, etc, just like the iPhone. Basically and iPhone without the Phone. I know this would be huge! I know a couple friends that bought the 1st Gen iPhone just to jailbreak it and use it without service to get the camera, mic, speakers, etc.

Biggest news of all? Price drop for the iPod Touch. I’m guessing $199 for smaller capacity and $299 for larger. Even if Apple is losing on this, they will gain back profit on applications sales. If turn by turn GPS comes to the touch, they will sell like crazy for $199. Let us know in the comments what you’ve heard and keep a look out tomorrow as we’ll keep you up-to-date on the latest info.

Rumors are, Apple is trying to dump stock of iPod Touches to get ready for a newer version. What will the new version bring? Larger storage, microphone, speaker, camera, GPS?
If you want more than just a rumor, many iPhone news sites are reporting the new 2.1 firmware has referance to the iPod Touch as “iPod2,1″. Currently it’s refferenced to as “iPod1,1″. Even better, the iPhone 1st Gen was referenced to as “iPhone1,1″ and is now “iPhone1,2″ for the iPhone 3G. You can see it was the second number that changed. With the Touch it’s the first number that changes. Let us know what you think all of this means in the comments.

There is a lot of talk about the iPhone 3G today but what about the iPod Touch? Well we did learn that to upgrade your iPod Touch to the 2.0 firmware will be $9.95. I’m really surprised Apple is charging for this. This mean you’ll have to pay for the App Store and then pay for apps. I know there are other features but this is still not kewl. Luckily the price isn’t that bad and I’d be willing to pay for the upgrade. Speaking of the Touch, since we saved more than needed for an iPhone, we’ll be buying an iPod Touch so we can keep all of those who have them up-to-date on what new and old apps work on the Touch.
So far there is no news on hardware updatesfor the Touch. That means no GPS, obviously no 3G, no color choices. Only software updates will apply. It would be nice if they added a mic, speaker and camera. I have one friend already that has bought an iPhone and fake activated it just to use those feature and another that’s going to buy a used iPhone version 1 just to fake activate it to use just on Wifi. They want the camera mostly and if Ebay gets flooded with version 1 iPhones then they will be cheaper than a Touch.
