MaomaLand – iZoo Theme

MaomaLand is a theme for iZoo. It is based off of maomaland.com which makes toys. The theme looks very nice. The colors are well balanced, and nothing blends in to much or stick out. The theme is very cutesy and seems based off of an anime art style. You can get it from the MaomaLand source. It goes straight into the themes section of your iZoo game so you will not see an icon for it on your SpringBoard. Below are the screenshots.

If you are addicted to iZoo (like I TOTALLY am) then you will love these iZoo add-on themes. Some of the new themes include; Chuzzle, TheRiseOfAtlantis and Zuma. They are pretty clean and play nicely…nothing like more variety!! Each theme can be added individually and are put directly into the Themes feature in iZoo (they will not show up on your SpringBoard). All the themes are available through the iPod Touch Fans source. I love the update to iZoo 1.2!! Actually, this post would have been out much sooner if I wasn’t COMPLETELY ADDICTED to this game! The first time you open iZoo after you update, you will get a pop-up asking you to enter you name…this is so it can be used for the High Score feature (which is also new!). When you have entered the name you would like to use just tap Play On. Once the app opens you will notice two little icons in the timer bar…those are hints. If you are stuck and would like a hit…just tap on one of the little eye glass icons and it will put a red box around the piece that can be used. But, make sure you look quickly because the box shows up and then disappears a few seconds later! Another cool new feature occurs once you have made a match…the number of points you received for each match will kind of float up the play screen. There are also a few new features that will randomly show up such as a little eye glass icon among your pieces…if you tap on it, it will add an additional hint to the number of hints you have! There is also a white sparkle that will show up on one of your pieces…when you make a match that includes the piece with the sparkle, you will get bonus points. If you run out of time…you are given a pop-up with the choice to continue playing or to submit your score to the high score list. If you decide to submit your score, you will be brought to an online score log showing you the top 20 scores and then where your score is among the rest. I also noticed that the donation request has been removed along with a few of the themes…instead of the four previous options, you are now given the option to choose between Garfield Bejewled Mod and the Zoo Keeper Original theme. Overall…a seriously sweet app!! iZoo is available in the Installer.app through the iPod Touch Fans source. Below are the screenshots:

iZoo Update 1.1-3

There are no visual updates to iZoo 1.1-3, that I can see. Let me know in the comments if you notice anything. I believe they are trying to make it compatible with 1.1.3 and that is why the app was updated. iZoo is available in the Installer.app through the iPod Touch Fans source. Below is the Screenshot:

Note: This source can be very slow…it took me at least 20 minutes to download the update! Also, a HUGE thanks from the Developer to all the people who have donated towards this app!! Good job guys…way to support the developers!

iZoo Update 1.1-2

I do not see any major changes with the update to 1.1-2. I did notice that you can no longer tap to the left of the score to get a hint!! However, I did hear through the grape vine that we will see this feature again in a future version! The app seems to play a little quicker and smoother but, that could just be my imagination!! iZoo is available in Installer.app through the iPod Touch Fans source. Below is the screenshot!

iZoo Update 1.1

Ok…so, after finishing my previous post about changing the iZoo skin…I went into the Installer to see if there was anything new and cool…I was surprised to see an update for iZoo but, I thought I better check it out. And, the update adds a few new features including…THE ABILITY TO CHANGE THE THEME!! They are totally trying to steal my thunder! And I was soo excited about my iZoo modding post!

So, the update adds two very cool new features; the ability to change the theme and the ability to Pause the game. To change the theme…just tap the Themes button in the upper right corner…you are then given four options of themes; Garfield Bejewled Mod, SunSeeker Theme, Zoo Keeper Original and Zoo Keeper Updated by t4t5. To select the theme you would like…just tap on it and then tap Use Selected Theme at the top of the page. If you would like to Pause your game, just tap Pause…then to restart the game, tap Pause again. The only issue I am noticing with the update is that you cannot start a New Game when you are in the middle of a game already. iZoo is available in the Installer.app through the iPod Touch Fans source. Below is a full list of the changes via the Developer and the screenshots:

iZoo 1.1
1. Removed the hint feature, as this is going to be a collectible icon depending on combos in 1.2 (along with some other combo rewards such as bombs etc)
2. Added the ability to select a Theme, from any subdirectory of the Themes folder. This can be done dynamically during play too.
3. Increased the difficulty stepup from 5 levels to 3. The timer goes faster every 3 levels now, and it used to be 5, as I found the games were dragging on the earlier levels.
4. Added a new feature that, every third level, the pieces/animals will alternately emerge from the bottom and top. This should make combos harder.
5. Added a local High Score feature saved to your ipod (along with your selected theme, so you don’t have to reselect the theme each time you play)
6. Added a pause feature, which removes the pieces from view when paused.
7. Tried to fix the occasional bug where a piece gets swapped for a space that is filling up. Unfortunately it still happens sometimes, so I will have another go in the next version.

iZoo Skins

As you all know I was HIGHLY excited when iZoo was released because it is similar to Bejeweled (which I LOVE!!) only with little zoo animals! So, what is the one thing that could make iZoo better than it already is….yes, you guessed it…a Bejeweled skin!! YAY!! I have actually found a few skins for iZoo and thought I would share them with everyone! Oh!…I also found a cool little trick that you can do in iZoo…if you are stuck and want a hint…you can double tap to the left of the score and it will put a blue box around the icon you can move!! It is pretty cool!

Note: These themes will overwrite the original theme.

How to change the iZoo skin:
The first thing you need to do is make a backup of the original files so that if you want to go back to the original iZoo theme you can (because remember these themes will overwrite the original iZoo theme). To create a backup…create a folder on your computer title iZoo Original (or whatever you want to title it!) then you will need to SSH into your iPhone and select all the files from the root/Applications/iZoo folder and drag them into the folder you created on your computer. Now you have a backup of the original skin.

Next, you can select one of the skins below (you will need to unzip the file provided). Then, take all the files from the unzipped folder and drag them into the root/Applications/iZoo folder on your iPhone…select Copy and then Yes to All. This will overwrite the original files. Now, just open iZoo on your iPhone and you will have the new skin!

To go back to the original skin just drag all the files from your “iZoo Original” folder that you created on your computer back into the root/Applications/iZoo folder on your iPhone. This is a pretty simple mod…but, it is fun!! So, below are three skins I have found, their zip files and screenshots of each. FYI: iZoo is available in the Installer.app through the iPod Touch Fans source.

iZoo is played like Bejeweled (I LOVE Bejeweled)…only with little zoo animal icons instead of jewels. When the app opens, there is a pop-up menu giving you the option to Donate Now or Donate Later. Once you have made your selection you will be brought to a blank play screen, to start a new game just tap Start in the upper left corner. The point of the game is to get at least three of the same animals in a row, either horizontally or vertically. You can only move one animal in order to make the three or more in a row. So, there already has to be two matching animals lined up in a way that you only need to add one more to make a row of three. To move an animal just tap and hold it and then drag it where you would like it. When you get three in a row…they will disappear and more animals will drop down into the places they disappeared from. Randomly you will get a little animal that looks like it is going crazy…really, it is flashing through all of the different animal icons…just tap it to make it stop and whatever animal icon it stops on…all the corresponding animals on the board will disappear.

You will also notice a purple bar moving along the top…that is a timer. If you get a “match” of three or more…it will give you more time…as you try to find your next move the time will continue to move down. When the time starts to get really low…all the animals will start wiggling…which only makes things worse when you already know the time is almost up and you are frantically searching for a move. It also keeps track of your points, in purple, at the top of the screen. Every time you get a match of three it adds 30 points to your score…if you get a match of four it will add 90 points to your score. You can tell how many matches you need in order to move on to the next level by the little animal icons next to the timer. Each animal has a number above it…that is how many more individual animals you need to make disappear before you can move on to the next level. In the first level you have to make 6 of each animal disappear (a match of three, counts as three…a match of four, counts as four). From there is goes up by three each level…level two you have to make nine of each animal disappear, level 3 twelve of each animal, level 4 fifteen of each animal and so on. When you win…you will get a image saying what level you are moving to and then it will load a new game. If you run out of time…you will get a image saying Game Over, if there are no more moves…you will get a image saying No More Moves Available – Refreshing. I love this game…I’m sooo glad it is finally on the iPhone…I used to have to play the web app version of Bejeweled and that is just not as cool!! iZoo is available in the Installer.app through the iPod Touch Fans source.
