One of the first applications I install after jailbreaking my iPhone is SBSettings, an application that allows you to quickly toggle settings on your device. It allows me to do some of my favorite hacks (see screenshots below) and it also allows me to quickly adjust my brightness, toggle my WiFi and Respring my device… things I do fairly often. Plus, I’m an old school jailbreaker and it has sentimental value. :)

One feature of SBSettings that some of you may not be aware of is that you are able to add the SBsettings menu into your Notification Center (that is the menu you get when you swipe down your screen from your status bar at the top of your device). To do so, you will need to go into your stock Settings application and then into the Notifications option. Scroll down to the bottom and you will see SBSettings. Just tap it and then turn it on. (Remember, you can rearrange the order in which things display in your Notification Center by selecting Edit and then dragging them by touching the three bars on the right and dragging them around.) Once you are in the Notification Center, you can swipe the SBSettings menu to the left and right to see more options.

Recently we had a epic storm in our area that included nearly 12″ of snow, very low temperatures and blizzard conditions. This caused an Emergency Alert to be broadcast by the government. What was most annoying to many in our area is that the alert was posted at 4:00 AM the day before the storm which hit in the evening of the next day. A friend of mine was asking me about it and I didn’t know much. I didn’t get the alert; I assume because I’m on AT&T & he is on Verizon. I had seen tweets about the alerts from a local meteorologist. Here it is:

Info regarding the system that sent the blizzard warning to your phone early this morning: ow.ly/gdHVr #iawx

— Jason Parkin (@dsmwx) December 19, 2012

By clicking the link in the tweet above, you can get a lot of info & frequently asked questions about the system. Now, if you want to know how to turn them off, here’s what to do. Just open your Settings app, tap Notifications & scroll all the way to the bottom. Again, if you don’t see these switches, your provider doesn’t support these alerts yet.

Hope this helps! Let us know in the comments if you see these and what provider you have so we can get a better idea of who is supporting these alerts at this time and who’s not.

I love hacks like SBSettings that allow me to put the current date in my statusbar all the time. But, if you’re looking for a little more info, check out this hack. It adds a full calendar into your Notification Center. There are no settings for the hack but to turn it on and off. You can swipe left and right on the calendar to see other months. This app is free and can be downloaded in the Cydia App.
