SnapTap Updated for 4.0 – Make Volume Buttons Snap Photos

Available In: Cydia       Price: $0.99

This app allows you to take pictures or video with the volume buttons instead of trying to hit the little button on the screen. It should help you to keep the camera more still and keep from blurry photos. This only works when the camera app is open or other apps using the camera feature. The news here is that it had been updated to work with 4.0 firmware so now you can use it to take HD 720p video! This is one of my top jailbreak apps that I just gotta have. [Read more…]

Uploading Photos to Flickr from iPhone & Keeping the Geotag

FlickrOk, someone please explain to me why all the apps I use to upload photos to Flickr do not keep their original geotag? I know some of them allow you to add your current location but I’m never in the exact location I took the picture once I’m ready to upload it. I’ve tried Flickr’s official app, Mobile Fotos, and Flickit Pro and they all remove the geotag. The only way I’m able to upload pictures and keep the original geotag is to email them to Flickr. You can set this up here: http://www.flickr.com/account/uploadbyemail/ And if you want it to post to Twitter at the same time you can set that up here: http://www.flickr.com/blogs_add.gne

Here’s some sweet instructions from Flickr on how to customize your email when sending pictures: [Read more…]

Ustream Live Broadcaster App Approved

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

UstreamApple has finally approved the live streaming app by Ustream.com. Previously there was an app for viewing live streams and an app for recording video and uploading it later but not live streaming. This is huge and will most likely lead to the approval of Qik for the iPhone too. Previously these types of apps were only available by jailbreaking your iPhone. With the recent approval of the video streaming app, Knocking Live Video, supposedly directly approved by Steve Jobs himself after initial denial, we will most likely see all of these types of apps approved.

The Ustream application is very nice. It allows you to see live chat from your viewers, create a poll and have viewers vote live on the video and you can see the results, you can automatically have it upload the video to YouTube or Facebook when you’re done, and you can have it tweet when you’re streaming live. I tested it over wifi and here’s the results:

Flickr 1.1 Update Adds Two Major Features

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

FlickrThe official Flickr app has always been a let down for me. It’s missing some major features and made the app useless. There are still some features I’d like to see but I’ll post them at the end of this article. The new update adds two major features that should have always been there but props to the developer for finally getting them in there and for overall great UI design.

One of the new features now lets you upload more than one photo or video at a time. Although it’s a nice feature, the way it’s designed is not intuitive. You tap upload, select 1 picture, then it loads a screen to add info to that picture. To add another, tap “Add Item” and it brings you back to the camera roll. What’s annoying is if you are loading 10 picture from about 20 pictures ago, you have to do this for each one and have to scroll up each time because it loads at the bottom of the camera roll. Once you get them in, you can tap on each picture to edit the individual pictures info.

SnapTap – Use Volume Button as Camera Button

Available In: Cydia       Price: $0.99

CameraI can’t really show you any screenshots of this app, but it’s an awesome hack that’s worth the $0.99. What it does is make your volume buttons become your camera button when the camera app is open. That way when taking pictures you can hold it like a normal camera. It also makes self portraits much easier! It not only works for the camera but to activate the video camera and stop it. Lastly, it works in all apps where the camera feature is used. I tested it in a few apps like Facebook. Again, I recommend this app, awesome!
