I was a little leery to try version 0.90b3 of Pysl. There have been a few updates since the last time I tried this application. I wanted to give it a chance to work out some of the bugs before I tried it again. Well, I decided to give it another shot and I am impressed. I found that there have been a few changes to the app (and that they all work!). I was able to add a number to the Blacklist and block both SMS and Calls from the number with success. Which is a major change from the last version I installed of this application. Also, there is a Scheduler option which allows you to choose when you would like to filter calls from certain numbers. A great feature!

If you do decided to add a phone number to the Blacklist and block either the Texts or Calls from that number, they will not show up in your stock SMS or Call History on your iPhone. The Texts and Calls will only show up in the SMS History and Call History in Pysl (unless you have the Delete option turned on, then you will not see the Text or Call anywhere on your iPhone). I was also pleased to see that the options with-in the Settings menu now work as well. When I turned on the Status Bar notifcation, it put a little square icon on my status bar when I receive a call that was blocked. It did not ring, nor did the call show up in the Call History on my iPhone but, it added the square icon to my Status Bar and the call was in the Call History list in Pysl. I am actual impressed with the progress this app has made. It seems much more stable and reliable then the last time I used it. Let me know in the comments how it is working for you! Oh! The only annoying thing is that you get the Donate pop-up every time you open the app, to get rid of it you just have to donate. Pysl is available through the iClarified source.

I would highly recommend NOT installing it NOR upgrading to it!! After installing this version, I was not able to make or receive phone calls. I also was not able to send or receive Texts (it would respring my iPhone every time I tried). So, I uninstalled the app and I was still unable to make/receive phone calls. Though, I could send and receive texts. This was not an issue I could fix and ended up restoring my iPhone!

Version .40b3 of Pysl works a little better than the previous version (at least for me)! Whitelist and Scheduler are still unavailable in this version however, Call History is available now. There is also a new option when you are adding a number to your Blacklist that allows you to turn on/off Call Stop Mode. What is really cool is that Call Stop Mode actually worked for me this time! When I entered the number into my Blacklist and was then called by that number, my iPhone did not ring. The call did however show up in my Recent Calls section of my Phone and in the Call History portion Pysl.

Doug said the first time he called it rang once and then had around 15 seconds of dead air and then went to my voicemail. I think the average person would have hung up during the 15 seconds of blank air thinking something was wrong. However, when Doug called back again, after the first time he called, it went straight to my voicemail without the 15 seconds of blank air (it continued to go straight to voicemail without the blank air from then on…no matter how many times he called). I still can’t seem to get the SMS Stop to work!! Let me know if you guys have any better luck! Pysl is avilable through the iClarified source.

Note: Remember to respring your SpringBoard after you make changes in this app.

In version 0.32 of Pysl…Whitelist, Call History and Scheduler do not work. Though, I like that it now gives you a pop-up telling you that it doesn’t work instead of leaving you wondering if it works or not. So, props for that. All the Settings seem to work like they should. I was able to enter a password…which it then make me enter every time I open the app but, that is good, you don’t want people adding number to your Blacklist without you knowing!! The Vibration, Status Bar, Alarm and SMS Privacy all worked as well. But, as cool as it is that all the setting work…I can’t get the actual app to work!! I have tried everything…on more than one iPhone!! Texts still come in like normal as do phone calls…even if the number is in my Blacklist! Also, if you open the app 10 times you will get a warning saying that you need to dontate. After talking to the developer, you can actually just tap the HomeButton and go right back into the app without donating…I’m not really sure what the deal is with that! I really wish this app would work!! It would be sooo sweet! Below is the change log via the Developer. Pysl is available through the iClarified source. Screenshots below.

Change-Log for version 0.32
- Better support for different firmware version
- international language support (actually French, English and Spanish)
- Alarm notification
- Set SMS privacy (no popup for all SMS received)
- Possibility to reply SMS from SMS history
- minor fix
You can add a phone number to a Blacklist and then set the phone so it doesn’t even ring when called by that number or immediately deletes a text message received by a number. There are also a few other features that look really cool! However, we can not get this app to work. Not an any of our iPhones…we tried everything. We can get the app to open but when we add a number to the blacklist and set it not to ring…it still rings. So, let us know if you installed it and it is working for you! I would love to try it out! If just doesn’t work…I hope they fix it soon! Pysl is available through the iClarified source.
