iGo Update 1.4 & 1.5

There have been two update to this app since the last time I reviewed it and, they have added quite a few new features!! The first thing you will notice when you open the app is there are now buttons below the play board. These buttons allow you to go back one move, go forward one move(if you have gone back already), go back an entire turn, zoom out and zoom in. Also, when a new piece is added to the board it puts a little blue asterisk looking thing on top of the piece…I think this makes it easier to see where your opponent just moved. There have also been some additions to the Action menu. You can now view your score, load a previously saved gamed and save your current game (you can change the title of the game to whatever you would like it to be). Good updates! Below are the exact changes with each update and the screenshots.

New App – iSpit 1.5

This new app is available through Installer.app from the Robota source. To start off I should mention this app will not open if you cannot connect to the internet (like when I’m at work with no edge/wifi connection). That being said, this is a very nifty http server that runs from your iPhone, and allows you to view the contents of your iPhone and download saved media (ie. photos, movies taken with Showtime, etc.)

Simply enough, you just have to flip the two switches in the app and wait till it says “Server is running.” Then go to your favorite internet browser on your computer (not your iPhone, even though you can) and type in the IP address displayed in the app. When the page loads you can then move click-navigate through the contents of your iPhone. To download, simply right-click on the file name and select ’save’. Or, if it is an image, simple click the image name (the .JPG version) and it will load the image in the browser, then you can right-click and save the image.

So far, the only use I have for it is to get the following screenshots… but, I’m sure I’ll use it a lot more to get movies taken with Showtime.

Note: Be sure to turn this app off when you are done using it so that other people can’t see your files.

Guitar Tuner 1.1

Another simple app by Robota Softwarehouse source generates tones so you can tune your guitar. A nice interface allows you to select the note easily and shows which string you are tuning by coloring it blue. The tone lasts for about 6 seconds and you can mute it sooner if you’d like by hitting mute or go to another note by tapping on it. There is also a volume control. The only thing this app needs is a little smoother sound. There is a click when the tone turns on and off.

Chess Update 1.1 & 1.2

There are some updates to Chess in the Installer.app through the Robota Softwarehouse source. With the update to version 1.1 there have been some changes made to the Settings. If you tap Settings you will now find an option to turn the Sounds on or off. If you turn Sounds on…you will get even more options…you can adjust the Volume, and turn on or off the Move Sound, Select Sound, Hit Sound and Illegal Move Sound. The Settings have also been put into nice little categories (Game, Layout, and Sound) which is nice an organized! I did not notice any visual changes in the update to version 1.2. Let me know if you notice anything! I did notice with both the updates that the first time you open the app it does not show that Please Donate below the board. The Screenshots:

New Game – Chess

Chess is an app available in the Installer.app through the Robota Softwarehouse source. This app opens to a standard chess game. You are white and the iPhone is black. To move your piece just tap on the piece you would like to move and then tap on the square you would like to move it to. The moves are shown at the bottom of the screen and who’s turn it is is displayed at the top of the screen. If you get stuck, you can tap on the Actions button in the top left corner and get a ton of options…you can get a hint, undo your last move, have the game make your next move, play a new game, save your current game, load your previous game, learn more about the app, and donate. There are some settings that you can change as well, just tap the Settings button in the top right corner. It will give you the option to save your game when you exit the app, 4 board layouts to pick from (Basic, Brown, Wood, Funky) and the ability to choose between eight levels of difficulty. The only thing this app is missing is the ability to play with 2 players. Here are the screenshots:
