Tweetie 2 Coming Soon!

Coming Soon: App Store       Price: $2.99

Tweetieatebits has announced lots of info about the soon to be released Tweetie 2. This will be a free upgrade for the Mac version but for the iPhone, you will need to buy it as a seprate app at $2.99. The original Tweetie is really nice but I’m kinda torn on the idea of making the app cost $2.99 again. As much as I use it, and as many upgrades that there are, I personally think it’s worth it. I have multiple Twitter accounts (in the double digits) and love all the current features. For light to normal users, I could see people being upset for having to pay all over again for the app. Wait until you see these screenshots and list of updates and then you might be willing to pay :) Also note, the developer has “dropped everything and devoted every working minute since to Tweetie.”

– Buy as new app for $2.99
– push notifications per user
– faster, slimmer, and much more powerful
– will be submitted to Apple this week and from there… well, you know the drill.
– built from the ground up
– takes advantage of iPhone OS 3.0, 3GS, and new Twitter APIs
– OS 3.0+ only
– video recording (of course you can video tweet)
– UISearchDisplayController so you live-filter your tweet stream, just like Mail

– drafts manager for tweets and DMs
– link up Twitter users to contacts in your iPhone Address Book
– Threaded conversations
– tab bar notifications
– “Nearby” revamped to take advantage of MapKit
– supports the new geotagging metadata coming soon from Twitter
– Saved searches now sync with Twitter.com and the upcoming Tweetie 2 for Mac
– interacts with Favstar.fm, Tweet Blocker, and Follow cost
– @people picker
– recent hashtags
– multiple attachments manager
– “peek” gesture when replying to a tweet
– full landscape support (configurable, of course)
– edit your Twitter profile

qTweeter Released in App Store as qStatus

Available In: App Store       Price: $0.99

qStatus Many of you are probably familiar with qTweeter, a very unique twitter and facebook client. We have been doing reviews of qTweeter for quite a while now. Well, it seems that the app has now been released in the App Store under the title qStatus… and still contains many of the same features.

I received an email from the developers that saying that jailbroke version of qTweeter will need some updating in order to function with the 3.1 firmware… which may take some time. However, qStatus it is now available in the App Store. Obviously, you can not slide from the statusbar to launch qStatus but, the app does still contain the features listed below (which some of the features are actually pretty cool… I’ve always liked this application). Friday Night Movie Night: IM+ 3.4 Will Add Speech Recognition

YouTubeThis video is a preview of the upcoming update to IM+. This application is $9.99 so I haven’t broken down and purchased it yet. But, as you can see in this video, the app is pretty sweet. One thing I noticed in the video is the app is sending your voice up to a server to transcribe it, like the Google App and Shazam do. The conversion doesn’t happen right on the iPhone. Either way, pretty sweet when you’re driving!

Facebook 3.0 Update Coming Soon

FacebookKeep your eyes on the update tab in the App Store! Facebook will be releasing an update to their iPhone app very soon! I have to admit I’m pretty excited about this. Right now, the app is very clunky not to mention the major bug of messages from groups in your inbox don’t show up. There’s lots to be excited about though. Here’s a list of upcoming features straight from the developer’s Facebook account: [Read more…]

TweetMic – Send Audio Tweets

Available In: App Store       Price: $0.99

TweetMic We recently did a review of FaceMic, an application that allows you to record audio and then send it straight to your Facebook page (posting it on your “wall”). Well TweetMic is the same concept only via Twitter. It allows you to record audio and then send it as a tweet. Very cool.

TweetMic functions basically the same as FaceMic. When you first open it, you will need to go to the Setup option where you will enter your Twitter info. You can also change the default phrase under the Setup option. [Read more…]

FaceMic No need to type your Facebook update…now you can speak it! FaceMic is a pretty cool application that allows you to record audio and then send it straight to your Facebook page (posting it on your “wall”). FaceMic is very well designed and extremely easy to use.

Here you will need to enter your Facebook info (email address and password). Once you have finished entering your info, you will then need to select the Grant Permission option. First Impressions: TweetDeck for the iPhone [Twitter]

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

TweetDeckTweetDeck was released tonight so I thought I’d give it a try. First of all, it’s free. That’s nice. Second, I have to admit, I’m a Tweetie fanboy. I prefer it over TweetDeck on the desktop so beware. Really, the thing I think is the problem is it has too many features. I know, seems impossible. There are some great features though. Like nice little pop ups when you get new tweets. It’s kinda set up like safari with multiple pages that can be zoomed in and out and flicked through. I really like the pop up bubble in the bottom left with recent tweet counts. I’m going to try and use it tomorrow along with the crazy day of the iPhone firmware 3.0 release! [Read more…]
