Rename II is an application that allows you to easily change the name of Stock, Jailbroke and App Store applications.

Rename II is very simple to use. The application gives you three options; /Applications, Appstore Apps and About. The /Applications option lists apps that are in your /Applications folder. This will include both stock and jailbroke applications. The Appstore apps option is where you will find a list of all the App Store applications that are on your iPhone or iPod touch.

To change the name of an application, just select it from the list. You will then get a pop-up where you can enter what you would like the new title of the app to be. Once you are finished renaming the app you can select Ok and then hit the Home Button, your device will respring and the apps will be renamed on your SpringBoard.

There are a few things I like about this application. I like that it displays the application’s original name on both the list and the pop-up where you can change the title of the app. This makes it much easier to change the app back to it’s original title. I also think it is cool that you can rename applications with emojicons. It would also be sweet to have a Rename All option that would put all icons back to their stock titles. When I was testing the app, I changed quite a few app titles and now I have to try and remember which ones they were! Or, maybe some sort of indicator next to the apps that are not their stock titles.

I have found that Rename II does not work perfectly for me. I am not able to rename any of my stock applications (besides Voice Memos). I can however rename all my jailbroke and App Store applications.

Coalescence is a WinterBoard theme that contains 132 icons, a dock, wallpaper, lockscreen background, badges, sliders and a few other UI mods. The theme is packages for the 3.0 firmware and works without any sshing! YAY! You can get Coalescence via the SOS iPhone source.

How to Install

2. Make sure you have the SOS iPhone source installed in Cydia.
3. Search for Coalescence in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the Coalescence Theme.

Matte Nano is a WinterBoard Theme that contains a wallpaper, dock, badges, status bar and 2,295 icons (though, a lot of those are duplicate icons). The theme folder also contains an icon template (a .psd file) located in the Library/Themes/Matte Nano/Icons folder. One cool thing about this theme is that it resizes all icons, even if they do not have an actual icon created for the theme, that way at least all your icons are the same size. To make this theme even more complete, you can install Matte UI Graphite and Matte SBSettings. When you have all three mods installed it is a nice, complete theme. You can get Matte Nano and Matte UI Graphite via the modmyi source. You can get Matte SBSettings via the SOS iPhone source.

Many of you are probably familiar with the Picnic theme. Recently it was updated to work with the 3.x firmware. The theme includes 393 icons, wallpaper, dock, statusbar, dialer, lock background, loading screens, lock screen battery, pop-up mod, SMS mod, weather mod, badges, sliders (though, the sliders are aligned incorrectly)…etc. It is a well designed theme that was been around for a while now. You can get Picnic V2 via the SOS iPhone source.

How to Install

2. Make sure you have the SOS iPhone source installed in Cydia.
3. Search for Picnic-V2 in Cydia, run the install.

iPhone Pearl is a purple WinterBoard theme (I know, a little on the girly side but hey, we don’t want boy themes on our iPhone all the time!) that contains a dock, wallpaper, status bar, badges and 172 icons. It is a nicely designed theme that doesn’t need any sshing or changing… it just works. You can get iPhonePearl via the SOS iPhone source.

How to Install

1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the SOSiPhone source installed in Cydia.
3. Search for iPhonePearl in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the iPhonePearl Theme.

Ghost Ice is a WinterBoard theme that contains a wallpaper, dock, sliders, lock screen background, 42 icons, lock screen battery and a few other small mods. As with most themes, this one does take a little ssh work to get it to look completely correct. Because this theme is from a primarily French repository, some of the icons need to be renamed (from French to English). You can ssh into the Library/Themes/Ghost-Ice.theme/Icons folder and rename the following three icons; Calendrier to Calendar, Horloge to Clock and Appareil photo to Camera. Once that is done, everything should look correct. You can get Ghost Ice via the SOSiPhone source

Cubez is a cube style WinterBoard theme. I actually received an email about this theme a few weeks ago…and now it has made it’s way to Cydia. The icons are little cubes (which I must say are very cute!). The theme doesn’t seem to contains a lot…some icons, a wallpaper and badges. The one catch to this theme is that you need to turn on Transparent Dock in order for it to look correct. This is because the dock is part of the wallpaper. You can get Cubez via the SOSiPhone source.
