It is nice to see a few familiar apps being released for firmware 2.0. SpoofApp is an app that allows you to record calls, change your voice when making a call and change the display number when you make a call. There are a few change with the new version of the application. When you open SpoofApp, it will look basically the same. The Recordings option on the lower menu bar has a new icon and the Free Minutes button in the upper right corner has been changed to a Help option. When you open the Settings you will notice that they have changed slightly. Besides having a new look, there is also the option to turn on/off the Keypad Sounds.

The Buy Minutes options has also improved. The cost of the minutes has not changed (prices listed below). You are also still able to get five free minutes.

The app itself functions the same. When you make a call, you get the same options as in the previous version…the ablity to choose a voice and the ability to turn the recording on or off.

The Recording options looks much nicer in this version of SpoofApp. When you go into the Recording option, it looks the same but when you select a recording…the interface is much improved. The only new option is the ablity to delete the call and any recording of that call. You are still able to download all call recordings to your computer via spoofcard.com.

I always forget how much I like application until I test it again! It is just so easy to use and seriously funny!

The update to version 2.1 of SpoofAPP (an iPhone Caller ID Spoofing, Voice Changing, and Call Recording App) adds a new feature that allows you to download the conversations you have recorded, to your computer. Once you have recorded a conversation using SpoofAPP, you can go into the Recents option and select the recording. You will then get a screen with all the information for that call and the ability to Play the Recording. When Play Recording is selected, you will see a Download Recording to Computer option. This option will give you a pop-up saying that you will need to go to SpoofCard.com and enter your PIN number.

Once you have entered your PIN number on the website, it will display all the calls that you have made using that PIN. You can then select the Listen option next to a call that has a recording. This will bring you to a page in which you can listen to the recording and download the recording to your computer. All you have to do is right click on the Download Recording to Computer option and save it to your computer. It will save the audio file as an MP3. It worked great for me and the audio quality is pretty good.

This is another application that I have held off on trying for a few updates now. Jacob did a review of SpoofAPP a while back but, it’s time to give it another go and man is the new interface nice. When you first open SpoofAPP you will need to create a username and password and go through a few set-up steps (see screenshots below). Once you have done this, you will get a pin number and five minutes free so that you can test out the application. You will notice that there is a new lower menu bar in which you have the following options; Settings, Buy Minutes, Keypad, Contacts and Recents. There are a ton of options in the Settings including the ability to turn on/off Voice Changer and Call Recording. You can also see how many minutes you have remaining and choose whether you want your contacts to sort by first or last name. The Keypad option is where you make the calls from. The first number is the phone number you would like to call and the second number is the number you would like to spoof. You can select from your contacts by selecting the contacts button or by deleting the phone numbers currently in the number field and then selecting the little book icon. Once you have entered a number and a spoof number, tap call. You will now get the options to choose your normal voice, a Male voice or a Female voice. Once you have selected that, you will then get the option to record the phone call or not.

Ok, this is where it can get confusing. SpoofAPP will first call you. So, your iPhone will ring and you will want to answer it. You will then get a recording telling you how many minutes you have remaining and to press 1 to connect the phone call. Once you have selected 1, it will dial the person you want to call. It automatically changes your voice so, all you need to do is talk! Once the call is over you can go into the Recents option, in the lower menu bar, to see a list of all the phone calls you made (assuming you selected the record option in the menu). To listen to one of the phone call recordings, just tap on it. You will then get more information about the call; the phone number you called, the Caller ID, the date and time of the call, the duration of the call, what voice to selected to have and then the option to play the recording. The recording will open in QuickTime. You are able to hear both sides of the conversation in the recording. The app works flawlessly, at least when I tried it! The voice changing works great (Doug thinks it’s hilarious), the spoof number works correctly and the call recording are very clear. Overall, a very good application. I’m highly impressed with this one. If you would like to buy more minutes, after your five free minutes are gone, below is the cost (which isn’t too bad). SpoofApp is the iPhone app for all you pranksters out there. I got my iPhone out at a recent family gathering and even my grandparents had a good laugh with this. SpoofApp allows you to call someone, and disguise your number with some one else’s, and even allows you to change your voice!

You can find the app in Installer under toys and is availible from BigBoss’ source. To actually use this you are required to purchase a phone card from one of the providers, SpoofCard or Phone Gangster, but there is a Free Sample Call, for the first time. Open the app up and tap settings on the top right, then select Free Sample from the provider list. Enter your phone number and area code, select the voice changer option you want, then tap Back. Tap the top number area and enter in the number you want to call, to select a contact, tap the contacts area (this option is very well implemented!) and select the contact’s number you want.

The second number entry area is for the number you want to apear on the persons phone you are calling, works best if you are calling a number that they would have saved on their phone, so when they receive the call they see that persons name show up and not just a number. Once both numbers are in place, tap call, if you get a popup about recording you can tap no, or go setup an account. Then the app will contact the provider with the info you entered, and the screen will tell you to answer the phone when they call you, tap answer when you receive the call and start listening. Once you answer it will start ringing the number you dialed. Once the person answers your call, you wont be able to tell that your voice is being masked, but it is! there is about a 3 second delay between the time you say something and the time they hear it.

SpoofCard is the only provider that offers recording and voice changing, they were also gracious enough to give us a few free cards to do this review! Thanks Spoofcard!

All in all a very fun app and very well designed. Kudos to the programmer! Screenshots below, and comment with how your prank calls went!
