The iPhone 4 unlock is ready! Remember, unlocking is different from jailbreaking. Unlocking lets you use your iPhone on other carriers. Of course, in the US the only other carrier that works with the iPhone is T-Mobile. This unlock is done by first jailbreaking the iPhone allowing applications to be installed that Apple doesn’t approve of. Then, in Cydia, you will need to add this source: repo666.ultrasn0w.com Then you can install ultrasn0w. Read more
A few day ago, Sherif Hashim, tweeted that he had found an exploit for the 5.12.01 baseband (the current baseband for the 3.1.3 firmware)…. meaning he found a way for it to be unlocked. He later said that he was working with the Dev-Team to get the export working correctly and released. Yesterday, he tweeted that he received the following message, “Your Apple ID was banned for security reasons.” It seems that Apple is not too happy with Hashim and his exploit! Read more

This allows you to travel through Europe or other countries and swap out the SIM card to save on roaming fees. All you need to do is fill out this request form and once approved you can unlock through iTunes. The request may take up to 14 days to process. Anyone planning on unlocking their iPhone through O2?
Will you unlock your iPhone through O2?

Today the Dev-Team released an update to the unltrasn0w unlock. The update to version 0.92 is basically a bug fix.
Today we released an ultrasn0w update that fixes an issue for those running firmware 3.1.2 with the 04.26 baseband. That specific combination resulted in a missing carrier name in the upper left-hand corner of your home screen. Today’s ultrasn0w update from 0.91 to 0.92 fixes that problem (which was an important issue for roaming). You should see the update available if you have http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com as a Cydia source. Enjoy!

However, GeoHot has recently decided to look into an unlock for the 05.11.07 baseband. It seems that Jody Sanders, better known as the guy that sells the Dev-Teams unlocks, has offered GeoHot $10,000 to release the unlock.

If GeoHot does find an exploit for the unlock, it will be released to the community for free however, Sanders will continue to sell support for the the unlock to his customers.

According to GeoHot it should only take him a day or so to find the exploit. He started the search at 10:00pm EST last night.
“

So far, he still hasn’t found an exploit and is running out of places to look. We will just have to wait and see if he is able to find one!
