Version 0.8 of weLyrics adds a few new features. When you turn on the lyrics, you will notice that a lot more lyrics show up on the screen. Not only that but, they look much nicer! As in the previous version of WeLyrics, as the music plays the lyrics will scroll. However, it is much smoother with the update to version 0.8. I still find that the lyrics change much too slowly! I would love to see the lyrics scroll just before they are sung instead of a few words after! Another cool new features is that the app now supports local lyrics files. Which means if the mp3 file of a song has the lyrics built into it, it will pull those lyrics. The local lyrics files are kept in the ~/media/Lyrics folder on your iPhone. I also found out, thanks to an email, that the lyrics are pulled from an online server – http://www.coollittlethings.com. I think the update definitely improves the overall look of the app however, I’m still looking forward to a few small changes! WeLyrics is available through the weiPhone source.

WeLyrics is an app that adds lyrics right into your iPod application. When you install WeLyrics, it will put an icon on your SpringBoard however, the only option in the actual application itself is whether or not you would like the lyrics on or off. When the lyrics are turned on, it will display lyrics to the songs playing in your iPod. To display the lyrics while a song is playing, just tap on the album art (the middle of the screen). It will take a second to download the lyrics. Once the lyrics are downloaded, it will scroll through them as the song plays. The current lyric are in white and the lyrics that are coming up are in grey just below the current lyrics. If it is not able to find lyrics for a song, it will either display just the title of the song or just leave a blank screen. You can also delete lyrics if it brings up the wrong ones. I did have one song in which it found the wrong lyrics. To delete them, just tap the little red trash can icon. I think this app is a very good concept however, there are a few areas that need a little improvement. I’m not sure where it is downloading the lyrics from but, I’m pretty sure it is not LyricWiki. This is because I found that it was only able to download lyrics for about 70% of my songs though, most of them are available through LyricWiki. I also found that it scrolls though the lyrics much too slowly! It doesn’t bring up the next section of lyrics until it is a few words into it…I would love to see it go to the next section of lyrics a few words earlier. Overall, this app has great potential. Everyone loves a lyrics app!! WeLyrics is available through the weiPhone source.

Loo is cube game similar to CubicMan. The object of the game is to get the the cube onto the black square without falling off the edge. However, the cube must land vertically (up and down) on the black square in order to move on to the next level. When the app opens, you will get a main menu screen with three options; Start, Load and About. The Load option is pretty cool…if you are on a level you can write down the code for that level and then the next time you open the app you can enter in the code and go straight to that level. Otherwise when you close and reopen the app it will bring you back to the first level. Now, how to play!

Once you are in the game…you can move the cube by tapping on the arrows. The cube will tilt and roll based on how you move it. Make sure you have enough grey squares for the cube to move on or it will fall off the edge. On the lower part of the screen it will display the game code, the level you are on and the number of times you have moved. It has some sweet levels! There are levels where you have to move your cube onto a square in order to create a bridge, others where if you land on a certain square it takes away blocks and others where you have to move your cube in a certain direction to keep moving it…things like that! The only thing it needs now it the ability to get back to the main menu while you are in the game. Overall, very cool! Loo is available through the weiPhone source.

weTool 0.39

There has been a version 0.38 and a version 0.39 of weTool…both released within the last day. The biggest change with the update is that is makes the app compatible with 1.1.3/1.1.4. Which is very cool. Also, in the newest version (0.39) there is an option in the preferences to Enable US Version (though it worked fine for me without the US version enabled). A few other small changes include…a new look when forwarding text messages and the About button how has info in it! Other than that there were a few bug fixes. weTool is available through it’s main source which is the weiPhone source. It also gets released through the ModMyiFone.com source…but, they do not have version 0.39 out yet. I did read on the developer’s site that people were having issues installing the newest version if they had the previous version through ModMyiFone.com…so, I actually uninstalled version 0.3.7.1 through ModMyiFone.com and then reinstalled version 0.39 through the developer’s source. It worked perfect.
