Shadow Keys is a mod that changes the color of the pop-up keys on the keyboard when you select them. This particular mod changes the it from the stock white to a gray shadow. I personally use a pink key highlights! You can get Shadow Keys via the modmyi source. You activate/deactivate the mod via WinterBoard.

NativeUI is nice, clean WinterBoard theme. The theme does require just a little bit of set-up (nothing like an iNav theme does!). When you install NativeUI, there are a few things you need to do in WinterBoard. First, activate the NativeUI theme. You will also need to activate the No Docked Icons Labels and No Undocked Icon Labels options. Once out of WinterBoard, you will need to rearrange your icons slightly. In your top row of icons you want your Weather icon, your Calendar icon, a blank icon and your Clock icon. In the dock you will need the Phone, Email, SMS and iPod icons. You can put whatever icons you would like in your second and third row of icons. See the screenshots below. One thing I like about this theme is that it accommodate the WeatherIcon and LiveClock mods. There are not a ton of themes that do this, especially ones that are a little more unique like this one. StatusBar Dots is a mod that moves your page dots to your status bar. So, instead of having the dots below your forth row (or fifth if you are using the FiveIrows mod) they are on your status bar. In order to have the page dots on your status bar, the app moves your time over to the far right on your status bar (similar to the RightClock mod).
If you do not have any sort of status bar notifications, this mod should work well for you. However, if you do have status bar notifications, it will push all your notification over to the right and they will overlap on top of each other. You also cannot see the ninth page indicator dot if you have notifications on your status bar. [Read more...]

Safety Not Guaranteed is a clear icon theme. I personally love clear icons because I can change my wallpaper and feel like I have a whole new theme! This clear icon set is actually a little different than most…it has a design to it. Most transparent icon themes tend to just be the stock icons…but see-through. The theme contains a dock, wallpaper, status bar, 128 icons and a few UI mods. I did find that I had a little bit of trouble getting the theme to work correctly with the LiveClock and WeatherIcon mods. In order for it to look correct, you can either disable both mods (using the LiveClock Disabled and No Weather Icon mods) or you can move your preferred weathericon and liveclock mods above the Safety Not Guaranteed theme in WinterBoard. Joulz is a simple, clean theme. It contains quite a few mods including; 446 icons, wallpaper, dock, status bar, badges, lockscreen wallpaper, sliders, calculator, notes, keypad…etc. The thing I really like about this theme is that it accommodates both the WeatherIcon and LiveClock mods, which is awesome. You also have the option to turn on a digital live clock. In order for the lockscreen to display your notifications correctly, you will also want to install the Lockscreen Clock Hide mod. This is a theme for the ladies! Pink Apple is a pink theme that contains 49 icons, a wallpaper and a dock. The theme also contains WiFi bar, Signal Bars and a Carrier Logo but, none of those three mods showed up when I tested the theme. iSimple is a theme based off the iNav theme. Like the iNav theme, it uses Categories to put all your apps into two categories; Apps and Games. It then uses blank icons (webclips) to position the Games, Apps and Cydia icons correctly on the SpringBoard. You can choose which every apps you would like to put on your dock…which is nice. The Games and Apps icons are clear so that you can see the icons on the wallpaper. Once all your icons are positioned correctly (see screenshots below) you will want to check the No Undocked Icon Labels option in Cydia. The only thing I noticed with this theme is that the Cydia icon is not clear. You would think it should be so that it would match the Games and Apps icons…in which you can see the wallpaper through. I’m sure many of you have heard about the iNav theme…if not, WHAT! JK, it’s totally ok if you haven’t heard about it especially because I’m going to tell you about it right now! iNav is a theme pretty much like no other theme out there. Since it’s release, there have been many themes based off of it but, it was definitly one of a kind! It does take a few minutes (ok, like 20 minutes) and a little work (no SSHing though!) to set up this theme so, I’m going to walk you through it. Nova is a very unique theme…it is clean and well designed. It contains 21 icons, a dock, status bar, badge and wallpaper. The only downfall is that there is no icon for the Maps application. I even took a look at the folder to make sure it wasn’t spelled incorrectly but, nope, no Maps icon. The upside is that the folder does contain a .psd file so that you can create your own icons. So, if you are ssh savvy and photoshop savvy…you could take care of the no Maps icon problem. If you are ssh or photoshop savvy…you might have to wait for an update before getting a Maps icon! OK, as many of you know, I’m not a huge fan of themes what have the date and time on the SpringBoard…only because then I have to move a bunch of blank icons around in order for it to work correctly! But, I am willing to make an exception for i’Elegance! Not only is this theme simple and clean…it basically mods every part of your iPhone and/or iPod Touch. The weather, sms, calculator, keyboard, badges, icons, wallpaper, lock screen, status bar, slider bars, safari, mail….basically everything is modded and themed. This is where another bias of mine comes in, usually themes that mod a majority of your iPhone are thrown together and terribly designed…’Elegance is not one of those themes. The design is quality and it is consistent through all of the mods. I love how each loading screen is customized for each specific app! I also love how it says, “No Calls for You!” on my status bar (our test iPhone is fake activated). It made me laugh! :) [Read more...]

Comet is a just a fun little application that “randomly” shoots comets across your SpringBoard. The comets go behind your icons which actually creates a pretty cool affect. Not an app I would leave activated all the time but, fun to check out. I did find that the comets shoot WAY too often. It would be better if they were like totally random…like every couple of minutes or so…that way just as you start would start to forget about them, one would go flying by! Ovals, is a theme that changes your icons into vertical ovals. The theme contains 53 icons and a wallpaper (actually a few wallpapers). There are a few things I really like about this theme. The first is that the theme has a mask so that all your App Store icons are themed! Which is sweet! The second is that the theme file contains an icon template (a .psd file) so that you can create an icon for any jailbroke apps that might not already have one. Ovals would also work for any of you who use the FCSB mod. Personally, I had to make a few mods to the theme for it to look the way I wanted it to. In WinterBoard, I selected; user wallpaper (and then just used a black wallpaper), transparent dock and reflective dock. You can get this theme via the modmyi source. [Read more...]

Relax is a nice, calm theme that contains 34 icons, a dock, a wallpaper and a lock screen background. One thing to note about this theme is that when you install it, the theme’s iTunes icon does not display…it is in the file, it is just named incorrectly. If you are comfortable with SSH…you can SSH into the Library/Themes/Relax Theme/Icons folder and rename the icon file Itunes to iTunes…then it will show up correctly. Also, the red badge just does not go with this theme…I would have loved to have seen a nice semi-transparent badge (or maybe one that matched a little better!). But, it is still a nice theme that is easy on the eyes! You can get this theme via the iSpazio source.

2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the iSpazio source installed in Cydia.
3. Search for Relax in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the Relax theme.

Glass Two is a clean theme that contains 142 icons, dock, status bar and wallpaper. The theme also contains a template so that you can create your own icons (I love when they do that!!). The only issue I have with this theme is that the dock that that theme comes with has reflections of icons however, the reflections are (from left to right); Phone, Safari, iPod and Settings. I personally like to have different icons in my dock but, then it doesn’t reflect correctly. It isn’t a huge deal since you can easily change this using other docks in WinterBoard. 6 iPhone 3.0 Icons is a theme that includes the Stocks, iPod, Phone, Voice Memos, SMS and MMS icons from the 3.0 firmware. When you install 6 iPhone 3.0 Icons (via the iSpazio source), it will add the theme into WinterBoard where it can then be activated/deactivated. When activated, the Phone, Stocks, iPod and SMS icons will change to the 3.0 icons however, you will not see the Voice Memos or MMS icons due to the fact that there are no apps with these titles on your SpringBoard (or at least not on my SpringBoard). But, the icons are in the theme’s folder so if you want them you can go to Library/Themes/iPhone 3.0 Icons/Icons folder on your iPhone or iPod Touch. I also added them to this post (see screenshots below) The theme only contains these six icons. I will say that I’m a little confused by the MMS icon…I’m not sure if it is based on the country you are in or what but, Doug does not have that icon on his 3.0 upgrade.
