My grandma has been texting me for the past couple days asking me to help her fix her Facebook iPhone App. She said it’s not refreshing her news feed and can’t see people’s walls. I told her to shake it (that forces the app to refresh.) It didn’t work. Then I noticed I am having the same issues. Have you been experiencing problems? Let us know in the comments. I checked out Twitter and it looks like we’re not the only... [Read more of this article]
Multiflow is a multitasking application. The app uses Backgrounder to start applications running in the background and then allows you to view and switch between the apps that are running in the background. It basically puts a GUI on the Backgrounder utility. Check out the demo video below. This reminds me of an application that Steven Troughton-Smith (the developer of Stack and Orbit) posted a screenshot of last month. [Read more of this article] Read More →

eBook reader
by ckong (Posted Tue, 17 Nov 2009 11:24:13 GMT)
I've recently converted to eBooks as my main source of reading. I first started purchasing eBooks from barnesandnoble.com, and soon found out they also own ereader.com and fictionwise.com (I believe fictionwise.com bought out ereader.com, and then fictionwise.com was bought out by BN).
I normally now purchase my eBooks from ereader.com as I like their site organization and discounts the best. They also seem to have a slightly larger library but I suspect the three sites will sync up in the future.
My device? I have an iPhone. Total books? About 30. Each is about 250KB compressed (not sure uncompressed).
If you don't have an iPhone or an iPod, I'd recommend looking at the Barnes and Nobel Nook. Hopefully, it'll be able to pull content from not one but all three sites when they release it. I'd recommend the Kindle (from Amazon), but I think the total number of books is greater at BN since they purchased Fictionwise.
One other word of note... I haven't found all the eBooks I wanted on any site yet. I'm guessing its a combination of licensing issues, royalties, and just the overall belief (or disbelief) in the format (i.e. protecting eBooks against pirating). I personally stick with eBooks as I like the idea of continue reading a book anywhere I am...so I'm willing to live with this limitation. For books that I really want that aren't in eBook format, I'll purchase the hardcover anyway.
Good luck with your search.

Dee commented on Element – Lock Screen Mod Coming Soon:
Are you sure that this feature is for a "lockscreen"? Because it's actually for a "homescreen" itself. Lockscreen and homescreen both is totally different. Lockscreen is where you see along with "slide to unlock" screen and is actually locked, and homescreen is where you have access to any apps right after you

| Magellan car kit detailed at FCC filingThe Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) Filed under: iPhone, iPod touch That was fast. We just learned Magellan was going to offer a car kit for the iPhone and it has already hit the FCC. GPSTracklog.com has a detailed drawing of the new device, and it looks to be quite complete. Magellan has said the kit will be on sale before the end of the year, and even give the iPod touch full nav capabilities. The car kit is supposed to allow any iPhone GPS app to work with it, so you're not limited to the Magellan app. It works in portrait or landscape mode, and has a speaker for hearing directions and also link to your iPhone for Bluetooth based calls. The Magellan Roadmate app itself [iTunes link] has a boatload of good features, and we're anxious to get our hands on the app for a full test. Holiday travelers will have a lot of good choices for navigating to your destinations. Remember when we thought the plain old Google Maps app was cool? Thanks to Rich for the tip. | Google Earth for iPhone updated to 2.0 with map compatibilityInfinite Loop Google announced Wednesday that Google Earth for iPhone has been updated to version 2.0. Though the major version number has incremented, the update is rather minor except for a new ability to connect to your saved Google Maps and view them overlaid on its virtual globe. The main reason to grab this update is in integrated ability to view maps that you have saved to "My Maps" using Google Maps or the desktop version of Google Earth. Google offered the examples of checking maps for where Lonely Planet co-founder Tony Wheeler likes to travel or where chef Ferran Adrià likes to eat. However, it could also be used for viewing things like tracking a recent road trip, hike, or even a bike ride. Just enter your Google account login credentials, and you can select from any of your saved maps to overlay on the Earth. ![]() |
| AT&T loses first round in battle over Verizon adsThe Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) Filed under: Odds and ends, iPhone The Associated Press is reporting that an Atlanta Federal judge has denied an AT&T request to pull the Verizon 'there's a map for that' ads.The judge has set a December 16th hearing to give AT&T another chance to make a case. AT&T filed suit earlier this month looking for a temporary restraining order to stop the ads, and wanted a permanent injunction to halt them. The ads say that the AT&T network is not up to the quality or range of the Verizon network, and shows two coverage maps to make the point. AT&T claims the maps are misleading, and injures the company reputation. Verizon has said the commercials are truthful and accurate. The case pits the two communication giants against each other as they fight for increasing shares of the mobile market. AT&T has an exclusive on the iPhone, and that has brought AT&T an increasingly growing share of mobile customers. Verizon was reportedly offered an exclusive on the iPhone more than 2 years ago but turned it down. There have been sporadic reports that Verizon would like to get the iPhone back when the AT&T contract expires, but with some Verizon ads targeting the iPhone as well as AT&T that looks to be increasingly unlikely. AT&T loses first round in battle over Verizon ads originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Wed, 18 Nov 2009 20:00:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
